Leicester City boss Marti Cifuentes has provided an early injury update on Aaron Ramsey and Hamza Choudhury after they were both forced off in Monday night’s 2-1 win over Derby County, with particular concern over the on-loan Burnley man.

Ramsey’s cameo lasted less than five minutes when he replaced Bobby De Cordova-Reid just after the hour. The midfielder signalled to the bench that he needed to come off and received treatment before he headed straight down the tunnel.

Choudhury was forced off six minutes into the second half after picking up a knock to his knee earlier in the contest. Like Ramsey, he signalled to the bench that he needed to come off before going down.

Both players require assessments, but there will be more concern over Ramsey, as it seems it’s a recurrence of the hamstring injury that kept him out for two months.

“Hamza got a knock in the first half on his left knee,” the City boss said. “At half-time, he was feeling it even more. He tried to continue but it was getting more difficult. We need to see tomorrow how he is feeling.

“Aaron’s is the same hamstring. It’s difficult to say now (how bad it is), we need to get more tests tomorrow (Tuesday) and then we will know more. It’s disappointing because he worked really hard to get back.

“He’s a quality player. I’m sure he can be an important player. It’s sad for him mentally.”

Ramsey missed nine games between the start of November and middle of December with a hamstring injury. The attacking midfielder picked up the issue in the 1-0 loss to Millwall on October 25.

Since joining the club on loan from Premier League side Burnley on deadline day, he has played just eight games, starting only three.

The Foxes responded to the defeats to Queens Park Rangers and Watford to beat their East Midlands rivals. De Cordova-Reid’s fifth goal of the season was cancelled out by Rhian Brewster early on, before Jordan James continued his fine run of form to score the winner.

In his last seven Championship appearances, the Wales international has netted four goals, taking his tally up to seven for the season.
