  • Wolves complete €33m double signing after transfer deadline, dealing a setback to Ipswich Town.

Wolves complete €33m double signing after transfer deadline, dealing a setback to Ipswich Town.

Wolverhampton Wanderers confirmed the signings of Marshall Munetsi and Nasser Djiga just after midnight, over an hour after the 11pm cut-off point on transfer deadline day.

The Old Gold sealed both deals before the window was slammed shut, pleasing head coach Vitor Pereira who was determined to land a new defender and central midfielder. Wanderers are delighted but rivals in the Premier League relegation fight – including Ipswich Town and Leicester City – will be watching on through gritted teeth.

Munetsi, signed for a fee believed to be in the region of €20.5 million (£17m), became the second player to join Wolves from Stade de Reims in the window following the £16.6 million acquisition of centre-half Emmanuel Agbadou. The Zimbabwe international has put pen to paper on a three and a half year contract.

A staple in Reims’ midfield for the past five seasons, Munetsi was recently named the man of the match in a 1-1 draw away at Paris Saint-Germain. The 28-year-old is in his prime years and had established himself as one of the best midfielders in the bottom half of the French top flight before his exit.

Djiga, meanwhile, has joined from Red Star Belgrade in a deal worth approximately €12.5 million (£10m). The 6ft 3in centre-half promises to be a superb addition as he recently emerged as one of the best defenders in the Serbian top flight.

The 22-year-old, who played every possible minute for Red Star in the eight Champions League outings this season, only signed for the Serbian Super Liga club for £2.5 million in the summer. Most teams would be devastated to lose a key player but Red Star are thrilled to cash in for what’s close to a record sale.

Wolves are relieved they managed to avoid a repeat of the Kevin Danso saga as they looked set to sign the Austrian international defender from RC Lens but Tottenham Hotspur hijacked the deal. A full agreement was reached for Danso to join on loan and a medical was even booked, but Spurs swooped in to sign him instead.

Lemina exit inevitable after £17m Wolves deal
Munetsi signing on the dotted line will allow Mario Lemina to depart the club. Reports in Turkey suggest a full agreement has been reached for Lemina to complete a €3.5 million transfer to Galatasaray, still a possibility as the Turkish window doesn’t shut for another week.

The Old Gold were keen to move on Lemina throughout January following unprofessionalism and a lack of commitment from the former captain. Lemina refused to play against Newcastle United two weeks ago after requesting a transfer earlier in the month, before apologising to Pereira and his teammates.

The 31-year-old played 77 times for Wolves in all competitions, scoring six goals and making five assists. Lemina has made more appearances for Wanderers than any other team in his career and he had built a superb relationship with the fanbase, but those memories have now been tarnished to a great extent.

  • Social media criticizes Jalen Milroe for his performance struggles at the Senior Bowl.

Social media criticizes Jalen Milroe for his performance struggles at the Senior Bowl.

Alabama QB Jalen Milroe had an inconsistent week at the Senior Bowl, culminating in a disappointing performance during Saturday’s game.

Social media reactions to Milroe’s performance at the Senior Bowl were harsh, with many questioning his decision to enter the 2025 NFL Draft early.

During the week in Mobile, Milroe had a mixed performance, struggling in practices on Tuesday and Wednesday but bouncing back with a solid outing on Thursday. He displayed impressive deep-ball accuracy, a trait that has made him an intriguing prospect, but struggled with short and intermediate throws, missing several attempts.

In Saturday’s game, Milroe completed 3-of-5 passes for 18 yards, rushed three times for 11 yards, and took three sacks. His pocket presence remained a challenge, a pattern that persisted during his two years as Alabama’s starting quarterback. Milroe also missed a throw over the middle and failed to take any significant shots downfield to showcase his deep-ball skills. As a result, his draft stock after the Senior Bowl appears uncertain, with early feedback being mostly negative.

Social media critics were unforgiving towards the former Crimson Tide quarterback, especially regarding the missed pass over the middle intended for Georgia’s Arian Smith.

While many were critical of Milroe, former NFL quarterback Kurt Benkert’s comments offered a more nuanced perspective. Benkert, like others, believes Milroe could have a future in the NFL—under the right circumstances.

However, Benkert emphasizes that Milroe should not be thrust into a starting role in 2025. Instead, he needs time to develop, sitting and learning before getting meaningful playing time. Milroe could be used in a limited role, utilizing his athleticism, but forcing him to start next season could hurt his growth or even derail his career.

Despite this, it’s likely Milroe will still be selected in the first round as teams will be intrigued by his potential and talent. The draft will likely see a team take a chance on him early.

For the sake of fairness, I hope Alabama fans can start supporting him rather than wishing for his failure. Milroe gave his all to Alabama and could have transferred for a bigger payday, possibly improving his draft stock for the 2026 draft. Instead, he entered the 2025 draft because being an Alabama quarterback meant everything to him. This should be appreciated in today’s football landscape.

Gators Football Coaching UPDATE and What We’re HEARING

The Florida Gators coaching staff is coming together, and we’ve got the latest updates! 🏈🔹 In this episode of Stadium and Gale, we break down the newest coaching changes, rumors, and what our sources in Gainesville are sharing. Who’s staying? Who’s leaving? And what does this mean for the future of Florida football? 🔥 Topics covered: ✅ Recent coaching updates & hires ✅ Insider info on possible staff shifts ✅ How these changes affect recruiting & team strategy ✅ What Billy Napier’s next moves could be Tune in for an in-depth look at all things Gators coaching!

Florida head football coach Billy Napier may find himself on the hot seat again if two DJ Lagway-related factors don’t come to fruition. After a strong finish to the 2024 season, where the Gators won their last four games to finish 8-5, expectations are high for 2025. Lagway played a pivotal role in the team’s success, leading the Gators to victories in three of their last four games, including a blowout win over Ole Miss that knocked them out of the College Football Playoff.

If Lagway continues his strong play, Florida could be a CFP contender next season. However, according to On3’s Andy Staples, if Lagway struggles or the line play regresses, Napier’s job could be in jeopardy. “Putting Florida here is a big swing, and it counts on two things: quarterback D.J. Lagway continues to improve and the line play looks like it did at the end of 2024 and not the beginning,” Staples wrote. “If both those things happen, Florida could go 10-2 and get in based on the gnarliness of its schedule. If those two things don’t happen, someone else is here and the Gators may be in the market for a coach.”

While the University of Florida gave Napier a vote of confidence ahead of the 2024 season, that doesn’t mean they won’t make changes if improvements aren’t seen in his fourth season. The days of firing coaches too soon may be over, but SEC programs will always be willing to invest heavily if a coach’s tenure starts to go south. Napier must prove himself this fall.

  • Former Georgia Bulldogs Staff Member Hired as Collegiate Head Coach

Former Georgia Bulldogs Staff Member Hired as Collegiate Head Coach

Scott Cochran, former staff member for the Georgia Bulldogs, has been appointed as the head coach of a collegiate football team.

Scott Cochran, the former head strength and conditioning coach for Alabama, during a practice session at Barry University in Miami Shores, Florida, on December 26, 2018. Alabama was set to play Oklahoma in the Orange Bowl on Saturday.

Scott Cochran, former strength and conditioning coach for the Georgia Bulldogs, is returning to the coaching scene as the new head coach of the West Alabama Tigers, a Division II program based in Livingston, Alabama. Cochran previously worked alongside coaching legends like Nick Saban and Kirby Smart, and served as Georgia’s strength and conditioning coach from 2020-2023. He played a key role in Georgia’s back-to-back national championships, with his energetic coaching style becoming a hallmark in the locker room. After the 2023 season, Cochran stepped away from the program for personal reasons and later became the president of the American Addiction Recovery Association.

Cochran’s appointment further expands Kirby Smart’s extensive coaching tree, though the significant difference in divisions between the two schools means that a meeting between Cochran and Smart is unlikely anytime soon.

  • Micah Parsons Says Alabama Offered Him a Scholarship to Play Running Back

Micah Parsons Says Alabama Offered Him a Scholarship to Play Running Back

Micah Parsons, linebacker for the Dallas Cowboys, has quickly become one of the NFL’s top all-around defensive players since being drafted in 2021 from Penn State. However, his football career could have been quite different.

In a recent episode of his podcast, The Edge, Parsons hosted Los Angeles Chargers safety Derwin James, who shared that if he hadn’t played safety, he would have opted for running back or wide receiver. In response, Parsons revealed that Alabama had actually offered him a scholarship to play running back.

“Bama offered me… to play running back,” Parsons said.

Parsons then asked, “What is Derrick Henry?” to which James responded, “Fast and big.”

Parsons confidently replied, “What is Micah Parsons? Fast and big!” Henry, a standout running back at Alabama and in the NFL, stands at 6’3″ and weighs 247 pounds, nearly identical to Parsons’ measurements of 6’3″ and 245 pounds. Additionally, Parsons posted a 4.36-second 40-yard dash time, much faster than Henry’s 4.54-second time coming out of college. It’s possible former Alabama coach Nick Saban saw Parsons as a potential offensive weapon rather than a defender.

In the end, Parsons chose to stay on defense, where he has since earned four Pro Bowls and two first-team All-Pro selections, becoming the cornerstone of the Dallas Cowboys’ defense.

  • Late Onuachu strike earns Saints second win of the season at Ipswich

Late Onuachu strike earns Saints second win of the season at Ipswich

IPSWICH, England, Feb 1 (Reuters) – Southampton ended their miserable season with a crucial 2-1 victory at fellow relegation battlers Ipswich Town, securing their second Premier League win after Paul Onuachu netted late.

Both teams, desperate for points in their fight against relegation, saw Southampton strike first when Joe Aribo’s shot trickled past Ipswich goalkeeper Arijanet Muric and into the net. The home fans, who had witnessed only one league win at Portman Road all season, didn’t have to wait long for an equalizer, as top scorer Liam Delap calmly finished on the half-hour mark.

Ipswich squandered several opportunities to take the lead and were punished for their profligacy when Onuachu’s goal in the 87th minute allowed Southampton to reduce the gap to the safety zone to eight points, with Ipswich now seven points ahead in 19th place.

This marked a first victory for Southampton manager Ivan Juric, who took charge on December 21. “I’m really delighted, truly happy for the players and our supporters – they are incredible, and everyone is very happy today,” he said. “Maybe we suffered a bit more today, but we showed character with the ball and secured the win.”

  • NFC wins third straight Pro Bowl behind 3 touchdown performance from MVP Jared Goff

NFC wins third straight Pro Bowl behind 3 touchdown performance from MVP Jared Goff

Lions quarterback Jared Goff, who threw three touchdowns, was named the Pro Bowl Games Offensive MVP while leading the NFC to a 76-63 victory in the flag football game that capped off the weekend.

At the same time, Vikings cornerback Byron Murphy earned the Pro Bowl Games Defensive MVP award.

Goff had an almost flawless performance in “passing the test,” helping the NFC take a 14-7 lead over the AFC on the Pro Bowl Games’ opening night Thursday.

With some assistance from Green Bay running back Josh Jacobs in an NFL trivia contest, Goff demonstrated his passing skills by hitting every target and more in just 90 seconds. He scored 44 points for the NFC, five more than his teammate Sam Darnold of Minnesota.

Goff, Darnold, and Tampa Bay’s Baker Mayfield easily outperformed the AFC team of quarterbacks, which included Cincinnati’s Joe Burrow, New England’s Drake Maye, and Pittsburgh’s Russell Wilson.

The passing contest was the main attraction of the six events on opening night. The NFC also won two of three relay races, a skills challenge called “satisfying catches,” and a game show for NFL teammates called “helmet harmony,” which resembled “The Newlywed Game.”

  • College Football Fans Already Excited About Arch Manning’s Cousin

College Football Fans Already Excited About Arch Manning’s Cousin

Arch Manning, the Texas Longhorns quarterback, has been a backup for the past two years, yet remains one of college football’s biggest stars.

The nephew of Peyton and Eli Manning entered Austin as the top-ranked recruit in 2023 and has impressed in his limited playtime. During the two games he started while Quinn Ewers was injured, fans across the country were captivated by his strong arm and impressive speed.

Despite fans and analysts calling for him to take over as the starter, it didn’t happen, as Texas’ season ended in the College Football Playoff semifinals against Ohio State. However, with Ewers declaring for the draft, it’s now officially the Manning era in Austin.

While fans are excited to see what Arch can do as the full-time starter, a Saturday social media post teased another Manning rising through the ranks, one that could generate even more excitement. As the post revealed, fans are already buzzing about Peyton Manning’s 13-year-old son, Marshall.

“Sir another Manning has dropped,” quipped one fan.

“The Manning family set to dominate football for another two decades, wow,” predicted another.

“Marshall Manning vs Gunner Rivers in 2035 is gonna be insane,” commented a third.

“Arch and Marshall will rule the NFL together just like their family members,” speculated another.

Marshall Manning is still too young to be ranked by recruiting sites, and it’s uncertain if he’ll follow in the footsteps of his uncle, cousin, father, and grandfather, Archie. But with such a renowned family, he’ll have no shortage of role models for guidance.

Additionally, being Peyton Manning’s son has given Marshall unique experiences, like going viral in 2023 for throwing a pass to Minnesota Vikings star Justin Jefferson at the Pro Bowl Games.

If Arch Manning fulfills his immense potential, with some analysts projecting him as the No. 1 overall pick in the upcoming draft if eligible, and Marshall Manning grows into a star, the Manning family could become the most influential in football history.

However, both Arch and Marshall still have a long way to go before reaching the legendary status of their family members.

  • 2025 Pro Bowl highlights: Jared Goff wins MVP, Jahmyr Gibbs’ sick INT

2025 Pro Bowl highlights: Jared Goff wins MVP, Jahmyr Gibbs’ sick INT

Highlights and notable moments from the Detroit Lions players at the 2025 NFL Pro Bowl.

Once again, I watched the 2025 NFL Pro Bowl so you wouldn’t have to.

On Sunday, the Pro Bowl Games wrapped up with a flag football game, interspersed with several more skills challenges. With six Detroit Lions players present, there was plenty to analyze from the event in Orlando, Florida.

    Jared Goff wins Offensive MVP
Goff started as the NFC’s quarterback and quickly led his team to three scoring drives. According to the broadcast, Goff ended with 126 yards and three touchdowns. His performance earned him the Offensive MVP award, and the NFC won 76-63.
Additionally, Goff won the precision passing event on Thursday, making for an exciting weekend for the Lions quarterback. Here are a couple of his touchdown passes:

Jahmyr Gibbs grabs an impressive interception
As the game progressed, players swapped positions, and Lions running back Jahmyr Gibbs found himself at cornerback. On a two-point conversion attempt to Marvin Mims Jr., Gibbs jumped and made the interception. He likely would’ve scored if not for half the AFC team stepping in to stop him.

Brian Branch picks off Joe Burrow
Branch represented the Lions secondary well, even though the NFL’s leader in interceptions was not selected for the game. Branch intercepted Joe Burrow on a short pass to Joe Mixon.

Lions OL help NFC claim event victories
Taylor Decker participated in the Pro Bowl tug-of-war and helped his team to victory.
Meanwhile, center Frank Ragnow took part in a six-player relay race, teaming up with Tristan Wirfs to flip large tires. The pair defeated the AFC duo of Rashawn Slater and Tyler Linderbaum, securing the necessary lead for their team to win the race.

Jack Fox narrowly loses his event
Jack Fox, the NFC’s punter, competed against Jaguars punter Logan Cooke in an accuracy challenge. Both punters had racks of footballs and aimed to boot as many as possible into six trashcans set up in a triangle 30 yards away—similar to an NBA three-point contest.
Fox and Cooke tied, then tied again in overtime. But Cooke ultimately won in sudden death.

The Georgia Bulldogs impressed at the Senior Bowl All-Star game.

Five Bulldogs Shine at the Senior Bowl

The Senior Bowl, one of the most anticipated events of the NFL offseason, took place on Saturday, featuring top college football talent from across the country competing for one last chance to showcase their skills before the NFL Draft. The intensity of the competition builds throughout the week during practice, but Saturday was the day to suit up and play one final game in their Georgia helmets.

While no one from Georgia had an exceptional game, the Senior Bowl is designed for all players to receive equal playing time, making standout performances rarer. Despite this, five Bulldogs took part in the event and managed to make their presence felt with some notable stats. Let’s break down how each Georgia player fared on Saturday.

    Senior Bowl Stats

WR Arian Smith – Two catches for 37 yards.

Safety Dan Jackson – Three tackles and one pass break-up.

LB Smael Mondon – Two tackles and one pass break-up.

DL Tyrion Ingram-Dawkins – Two tackles.

RB Trevor Etienne – Five carries for 12 yards.

    Georgia’s Top Play

Although all five Bulldogs performed well in their limited roles, the highlight of the day came from wide receiver Arian Smith. Although his final line read two catches for 37 yards, one reception stood out—a jaw-dropping 32-yard grab, despite a defender closely covering him.

Smith, who had an up-and-down season, still has a lot to prove in the NFL Draft process. If he keeps making plays like this, there’s no doubt he’ll be a high draft pick come this summer.

Georgia’s NFL-bound players will have multiple opportunities to impress scouts in the coming months, including Pro Day in Athens and the NFL Draft Combine from February 27 to March 2. The NFL Draft will take place in late April.
