Australian GP – Lewis Hamilton highly critical of Ferrari SF-25 but defends Riccardo Adami

Ferrari is already forced to chase in F1: Australia is hard to digest for Lewis Hamilton and the SF-25, but the Briton defends Riccardo Adami. Too much information while chasing Alexander Albon, then too little during the second stop. Nothing serious, it’s part of the growth process: the real problem lies in the car’s lack of balance.

A tenth-place finish is certainly not the dream debut for Lewis Hamilton. The seven-time world champion, who only arrived in Maranello a few months ago, has to settle for a single championship point after (fortuitously) coming close to the podium. A matter of strategies and circumstances that, for a few fleeting moments, made Scuderia Ferrari fans dream on an otherwise dreadful Sunday.

“I was overtaking drivers at every corner, I thought I could keep my car on track,” the Briton recounted after the race. Over the radio, his race engineer had told him that the rain, already falling on the track, would not last long. But all it took was one lap to shatter the dream: “At a certain point, it started pouring.” Too late to return to the pit lane without consequences.

Lewis Hamilton defends Riccardo Adami after the Australian GP

The communications between Lewis Hamilton and Riccardo Adami, his new race engineer, did not seem particularly smooth from the early stages of the race. Too much information, lamented car #44, who was repeatedly asked to try different settings on the steering wheel.

“Generally, I’m not a driver who likes to receive a lot of information during the race unless I ask for it directly. But [Riccardo Adami] did his best, and we’ll move forward. We are still trying to get to know each other, step by step. We will analyze the race comments, the things I said, and the things he said.”

An overly nervous Ferrari SF-25 in Australia: Lewis Hamilton’s comments

In addition to an unfortunate strategy, the seven-time world champion was also slowed down by a very nervous car. So difficult to drive that even a highly experienced driver like Hamilton found himself “almost in the wall” multiple times.

“From the moment I got in the car on Friday, I didn’t have much confidence [in the car], especially at high speeds. On Saturday, confidence was coming back. I was building and building and building. Then we got to the race, and once again, starting from scratch, I had no confidence, not even in the adjustments, and the car was very difficult to drive.” – the seven-time Formula 1 world champion concluded.

Dolphins predicted to trade for Vikings QB to replace Tua Tagovailoa as Aaron Rodgers rumors swirl image

The Miami Dolphins have to make a statement in 2024 and reach the playoffs at a bare minimum if Mike McDaniel wants to keep his job and continue to build upon the foundation he has laid in South Beach.

McDaniel has worked alongside GM Chris Grier to build a talented roster, but the Dolphins have struggled to break through in the ultra-competitive AFC.

In his first season leading the Dolphins in 2022, they finished with a (9-8) record and snuck into the playoffs, where they fell to the Buffalo Bills in a close matchup in the Wildcard Round.

In 2023, it appeared as if Miami took a major leap forward under McDaniel and his high-octane offense. The Dolphins finished the regular season with an (11-6) record, but were blown out by the Chiefs in the Wildcard round of the postseason, in a 26-7 loss.

Most people in NFL circles believed McDaniel’s squad would continue to ascend in 2024 and potentially break through in the AFC and make a run in the playoffs. Instead, the Dolphins regressed and finished with a (8-9) record while missing the postseason.

Suddenly McDaniel went from being one of the hottest young innovative coaches to entering 2025 on the hot seat — and it’s safe to say that anything less than a trip to the playoffs — will mean the Dolphins will clean house and start over at the end of this season.

One of the biggest question marks for Miami is QB Tua Tagovailoa, who has played as well as the elite QBs in the NFL at times, but been inconsistent at others.

The most alarming part about the Dolphins franchise QB has been his injury history. Still, Grier and the Miami brass opted to give Tagovailoa a four-year, $212.4 million contract extension with $167.1 million guaranteed last July before the start of the 204 campaign.

At the time, the $53.1 million-per-year new-money extension was the second-largest four-year agreement in NFL history, coming in a shade over Jared Goff’s $53 million deal and just behind the $55 million per year on Jordan Love’s four-year contract and Joe Burrow’s and Trevor Lawrence’s five-year contracts.

In his first two seasons with McDaniel as the head coach in Miami, Tagovailoa thrived. In 2022 and 2023, he ranked second in the NFL in pass yards per attempt (8.5) and passer rating (102.9), fourth in total passing yards (8,172) and fifth in passing TDs (54).

But the Dolphins QB has a scary injury history, particularly when it comes to concussions. He missed significant time in his first three NFL seasons, with concussions being a major cause in several instances. In 2023, he showcased his promise and ability to stay healthy, leading the NFL with 4,624 passing yards while playing all 17 games.

But in 2024, Tagovailoa suffered yet another concussion and it appeared as if his NFL career was in real jeopardy. He only ended up missing four games, but the Dolphins offense plummeted to dead last in the NFL during that stretch and they lost all four with his absence.

Even with the recent contract extension, there have been questions about Tagovailoa’s future with the Miami Dolphins.

With the rumors heating up linking Aaron Rodgers to the Minnesota Vikings, TWSN believes the Dolphins should make a trade for second-year QB JJ McCarthy to replace Tagovailoa:

McCarthy will be an interesting trade target due to his pro-ready skills. McCarthy finished college with 6231 yards and 48 touchdowns over 481 completions with just 11 interceptions during that time. McCarthy reads defenses well and is able to anticipate throws extremely well, navigate the pocket the extend plays, and throw on the run outside of the pocket as well. McCarthy has great leadership skills, and for a team like the Miami Dolphins, he’d be ideal.

Tua Tagovailoa has been good for Miami, but it’s clear changes are needed as they’ve reached their ceiling with him. Tagovailoa has performed great against bad teams, but when it comes to facing a top team in a meaningful game, he can’t play consistently. When it comes to having to make a big play, Tagovailoa has struggled, as when he’s asked to make a big play throwing down field, his throws get more reckless and of his seven interceptions this season, six have come from 10 or more yards down the field.

With McCarthy they’d be getting a more efficient quarterback that they wouldn’t have to worry about sporadic play. McCarthy is also a bit more mobile than Tagovailoa to make plays outside the pocket and throw accurately off-platform. If the Dolphins want to advance their offense, McCarthy is the way to do so. For the Vikings, they can get draft capital in return.

  • Cubs aim for a stunning victory over Dodgers in Tokyo series as Mookie Betts battles fatigue and uncertainty looms around his status

The Chicago Cubs began their season with a two-game series held in Tokyo, Japan, facing off against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Prior to the series, the Cubs played two exhibition contests to acclimate. In the first game, the Cubs were held scoreless in a 3-0 loss by the Hanshin Tigers, with the opposing starter delivering five flawless innings.

The team rebounded in the second contest against the Yomiuri Giants, securing a 4-2 victory. In that win, top prospect Matt Shaw drove in key runs, while pitcher Matt Boyd closed out the game with four scoreless innings and six strikeouts.

    Dodgers’ Concern Over Betts’ Health
The Dodgers face uncertainty as they prepare for the upcoming series, with doubts revolving around the fitness of Mookie Betts. The veteran player has recently battled an illness that significantly impacted his physical condition and led to noticeable weight loss. During a recent workout, Betts demonstrated signs of fatigue, at one point leaning over with his hands on his knees—a clear indicator of his current strain. Should he be sidelined for the series, the Dodgers will need to adjust their infield strategy, potentially turning to other players for leadership in that area.

    Cubs’ Aspirations for the Season
The Cubs enter the Tokyo series with high ambitions, widely expected to not only capture their division title but also emerge as one of the top teams in Major League Baseball. Early spring training challenges, including injury setbacks, have been overcome by players such as Matt Shaw, who now looks ready for a permanent role at third base. With determination and a season loaded with promise, the Cubs are set to prove their mettle on a global stage and signal their readiness for the challenges Ahead

  • My Lungs Feel Terrible”: Quincy Wilson Confesses Same Medical Issue as Noah Lyles at New Balance Nationals

My Lungs Feel Terrible”: Quincy Wilson Confesses Same Medical Issue as Noah Lyles at New Balance Nationals

Quincy Wilson is becoming rather mainstream for making headlines, just like Noah Lyles. This time, the 17-year-old chose the New Balance National Indoor Championships. Racing in the 400m sprint on March 15, the Olympics history maker won the finals in 45.71 seconds. This becomes the second-fastest time in high school history. And the fastest in the New Balance Nationals Indoors ever, toppling his own time of 45.76 from 2024. But something else is drawing attention this time.

It’s not just the record and his pace. It’s the circumstances of the win that have left us surprised and in awe. Wait till you find out that he ran the 2nd-fastest time in school history while having breathing difficulties and other issues.

And here again, Quincy Wilson has found Noah Lyles with him. The most ardent track and field fans know the fastest man in the world has been battling chronic breathing problems all his life. And now, Paris Olympics starlet Quincy Wilson also reveals that he has had long-term respiratory problems.

The Bullis High Schooler raced in the New Balance Nationals Indoor Championships on March 15 in Boston and narrowly edged past Andrew Salvodon, who himself got the 4th-fastest time in school history, clocking 45.84. Taking to Instagram later, Citius MAG posted a clip of the 17-year-old breaking down the entire race for them. He walked us through how he got off to a good start: “I gotta go get six (sixth lane). I gotta go get six. When I came out of the blocks, I felt smooth … everything was smooth. I was trying to, like, stay, like, low with my arms.”

Going into more technical details, he explained his implementation: “So, I was, like, not trying to use them (hands) as much just as yet. But then I felt the inside.” Cameron Homer, a fellow Bullis High-schooler of Quincy, gave him the first challenge. As Homer went past him from the inside, Quincy just kept calm. The Olympian continued, “Don’t panic. Been in this situation before. I wanted to get the break because I haven’t had a break all year. I kind of, like, got the break.”

His plan to go outside to overtake Homer worked: “I had to run outside, but I was just, like, I’m not running lane 2 this year. I’m cutting him. I cut him.” That’s when the crowd came alive. The teenage sensation, who has so many records to his name already, was in the lead: “This is where I start hearing people.” But with it came an uneasy feeling inside: “I’m starting to feel; all my lungs feel terrible. I mean, like, because of flu.” And the flu was not the only issue.

Eventually, Quincy won the race, as we know. The Paris Olympian was bullish: “But I’m just, like, I gotta be a dog. I seen him (Andrew Salvodon) coming up on me. I’m just, like, I gotta go to my arms. I gotta run. But I didn’t even know he was that close to come past me on the inside.” But Andrew didn’t cross him before the finish line.

Quincy Wilson was the New Balance Indoors race champ as he slowed down, walked near the crowd, and took it all in. Quincy was so prepared for the race, especially attitude-wise, as he was seen hyping up the crowd, almost as if telling them they knew who the #1 was.

But talking about the build-up to the New Balance Indoors race, he shared, “I even had bad asthma, so it was, like, it took me a long time to just, like, get back.” The speedster had been away from the tracks since the USA Indoor Championships on 23rd February. And now we know why. He said, “I haven’t run since USA’s. I’ve been in bed. I’ve been, yeah, I was real sick.”

The illness was made worse by the chronic breathing problem. Continuing, the Bullis High School star said, “I’ve been using my inhaler. I’ve been trying to get everything to make sure that I was ready for today.” This is not the first time Wilson overcame an injury obstacle to compete in a race. The biggest achievement of his life has come because he didn’t let injury keep him out.

When the qualifying heat came, he was there. Running a 47.27 split time, he started off the relay for team USA as they qualified for the finals with a time of 2:59.15. The rest, as we all know, is history. But coming back to the big revelation—that Quincy Wilson has asthma. It has been disruptive for him as it has been for Noah Lyles, who has been battling it all his life.

How Noah Lyles lives with asthma

If you don’t know what asthma is, it’s a condition where the airways in the lungs are affected, either by inflammation or by getting narrow. This makes it difficult for air to pass out when you exhale. Noah has had this condition since he was 3. Speaking to CNN in April 2020, the US sprinter said, “Asthma definitely affects kind of everything I do in terms of health, physical fitness, sometimes even emotional because if you’re emotionally fatigued, that can bring your immune system down.”

The 27-year-old had to be homeschooled so that it didn’t make things worse for him. Add to that the change in diet, the operations to remove tonsils and adenoids when he was 7, and supplementary medication and vitamins. His parents haven’t left any stone unturned to ensure that asthma’s effect on Lyles is minimal. But still, he had suffered because of it all his life. He would return from races so exhausted and with breathing issues that he would have to miss Monday school.

But Noah Lyles is an athlete who has refused to be kept down by it. Why is he the fastest man in the world? Asthma couldn’t stop him from winning the 100m race in just 9.784 seconds at Paris 2024. After the race, Lyles posted on X, “I have Asthma, allergies, dyslexia, ADD, anxiety, and Depression. But I will tell you that what you have does not define what you can become. Why Not You?”

The guy came in third in the 200m event, and wait for it. Noah Lyles ran the race with COVID. After the race, he collapsed in a heap. He left the track in a wheelchair, but he also left Paris with 2 medals. Yes, it’s unbelievable what these guys can do.

Gabby Thomas Expresses Bitter Feelings Around Diamond League As Track and Field Star Gives Honest Take on Grand Slam Track

Track and field may be all about speed, but when it comes to making a living? Slow and painful. And Gabby Thomas is not sugarcoating it at all. For years, track athletes struggled with money. But things finally looked to change.

But how? Well, Michael Johnson was supposed to be the bringer of change with his new Grand Slam track. If Johnson can walk the talk, then sprinters might be able to look at a hefty $400K a year. But as Gabby recently revealed, she isn’t quite sold yet. But what did the gold medalist have to say? Well, quite a bit.

    Watch What’s Trending Now!

As Gabby put it, “the highest prize purse in our sport.” Sounds like a dream, doesn’t it? But today, Gabby Thomas is pulling back the curtain on the harsh reality. In a recent interview on A Touch More with Sue Bird & Megan Rapinoe, Nikki Hiltz and Gabby Thomas didn’t hold back when discussing Grand Slam Track and how it’s shaking up the track and field world. Both athletes are part of the series, and when asked why they joined, the answer was crystal clear—money. And not just any money, big money.

Unlike the usual grind where track athletes barely scrape by, this series pays. How much? Let’s do the math. A World Championships gold medal gets you $150,000, but win just one Grand Slam event, and you’re pocketing $100,000. Even eighth place takes home $10,000. Stack up four wins, and you’re looking at a cool $400,000. Now that’s not just running for glory—that’s running for a real paycheck.

As Gabby Thomas put it, “It’s really striking to me how in track and field, unless you have an outside sponsorship, you don’t get paid.” And she’s not wrong. Unlike other pro sports with guaranteed salaries, track and field athletes rely solely on prize money and sponsorships—no wins, no paycheck. Athletes rely solely on prize money and sponsorships, but even those aren’t guaranteed.

What is the potential annual earnings for a sprinter who wins all four Grand Slam track events?

    $250,000

    AD

Gabby Thomas provided insight into the challenging reality of earning money in the athletic world. Prior to Grand Slam Track, most competitors had to travel overseas as excellent prize money existed only through international venues. Athletes relied on the Diamond League for prize money competitions since it awarded $10,000, but the funds soon faded!

“You do still have to, you know, if it’s not covered, pay for your travel, agent fees, coaching fees, and all of that. So hopefully, you go—like, the whole $10,000, there it goes,” she revealed. Many athletes would return home not with earnings but with debt. And even the biggest payouts weren’t exactly life-changing.

“In our main championship, the Diamond League Finals, I mean, you can win $50K,” Gabby Thomas said. Meanwhile, professionals from other disciplines continue to bring in millions.

The athletes of the Big 4 leagues (NFL, MLB, NBA, and NHL) are already signed to multi-million dollar contracts. Now, this might be attributed to the franchise style system that’s prevalent. Regardless, this

creates an abundant contrast. The novelty of Grand Slam Track stands out because of its groundbreaking nature. Despite larger prize pools, track and field running remains an exceptionally tough profession from which to earn a living.

But what about Gabby Thomas? She depends on prize money but also maintains a separate job to keep her life stable. An Olympic medalist still needs to chase down additional jobs for financial stability. But what exactly is this side gig?

Gabby Thomas isn’t making money on the track, so where’s the real payday?

Join our 110K+ family of loyal track & field fans and don’t miss out on the stories that that truly matter in the world of athletics.

“I don’t make my money on the track,” Gabby Thomas admitted, which turned out to be completely truthful. Despite her three Olympic gold medals, Gabby relies on more sources of income than prizes because athletic earnings cannot cover expenses. So where does the cash come from? According to Meaww, her net worth sits somewhere between $1 million to $5 million, but the track isn’t her main paycheck.

On the Net Worth and Chill podcast, Gabby spilled the tea: “I have a job that is to run, but I have a second job.” And that second job? Being her own brand. “It’s to essentially be an influencer,” she explained. And she’s not just talking the talk—her 1.1 million Instagram followers, Vogue cover feature, and brand deals with Amazfit and CAVA prove she’s got the business game on lock.

With the Olympics paying $37,000 for gold—and even less for relay racers who have to split it—Gabby knew she had to secure the bag elsewhere. And honestly, the payout is almost laughable. When Gabby revealed the $37K Olympic prize, her podcast host, Lu, practically choked. “

That’s it? 37 G’s for what could be a lifetime worth of work? No, absolutely.” And she’s got a point.

Athletes drop six figures on training, travel, and coaching just to make it to the podium, and that payout barely scratches the surface. No wonder Gabby and so many others are turning to brand deals and social media to keep their careers afloat. Because in track and field, running fast is one thing, but if you want to stay in the game, you’ve got to play smart.

Ferrari explain why Lewis Hamilton, Charles Leclerc left on slick tyres in Australian GP rain drama

How Ferrari’s gamble on trying to turn around their – difficult Melbourne weekend backfired amid the late-race rain shower; watch the first Sprint weekend of the season at the Chinese GP this coming week live on Sky Sports F1

Listen in on the radio messages from Lewis Hamilton’s first race with Ferrari throughout the Australian Grand Prix.Ferrari boss Fred Vasseur says the team simply made “the wrong call” as he explained why they gambled on keeping Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc on slick tyres longer than their rivals in the late rain-hit stages of the Australian Grand Prix.

Leclerc and Hamilton were running sixth and eighth respectively when a big late-race downpour started to hit parts of the Albert Park track with 13 laps to go.

The leading McLarens both soon ran off track – with Oscar Piastri then spinning off completely – at the end of lap 44 which was enough for race leader Lando Norris to head straight for the pit lane and change to intermediate tyres.

Max Verstappen inherited the lead by staying out, but then, as the rain intensified and with the world champion having to tiptoe around the track, Red Bull called him in to change tyres two laps later.

McLaren driver Oscar Piastri ran wide ending up on the grass, leaving him to rejoin in last place!Ferrari, though, kept their drivers out even longer until lap 47, by which time the Safety Car had been called for crashes for Gabriel Bortoleto (inters) and Liam Lawson

By then Hamilton and Leclerc, who himself had spun on lap 44, were running second and third in the queue behind the intermediate-shod Norris. But despite the gained track position, Ferrari decided the conditions meant they had no choice but to pit for intermediates too ahead of the race restart, a move which dropped the drivers down to ninth and 10th.

The best of the action from the first race of the 2025 Formula One season at the Australian Grand Prix. But why the gamble in the first place?

“It was a strange situation because sector one and two were still dry and sector three was completely wet and it was a kind of a bet I think that Red Bull and us, we bet on the fact that we have to stay on track and to wait for the last part of the race with slicks,” said Vasseur to reporters in Melbourne.

Who pitted for intermediate tyres when?

Lap 44 Norris, Russell, Albon, Antonelli, Stroll, Hulkenberg, Bortoleto, Piastri, Bearman
    Lap 46 Verstappen, Gasly, Ocon
    Lap 47 Hamilton, Leclerc, Tsunoda

“When Mercedes and McLaren, but McLaren it’s also because they went out that they pitted two laps before.

“We made the wrong call because I think the best option was to pit the same lap as Max and we made the wrong call at this stage.”

Could Ferrari have just stayed on slicks?

“I don’t think they’d have kept it on the track.

“And then on the restart it would have been absolutely horrific on those slick tyres.”

“In my mind I know that’s treacherous, I know it’s difficult, but these are the best drivers in the world and once you’ve made that decision you’ve got to think of the long game.”

“If they could have just survived on these dry tyres under the Safety Car… I think they should have stayed out.”

Did Ferrari keep their drivers informed enough about rain?

After rejoining the track in ninth place, Hamilton said on team radio to new race engineer Riccardo Adami: “I thought you said it wasn’t going to rain much? We just missed a big opportunity there.”

Leclerc, though, was heard being told by his race engineer about the impending arrival of the high-intensity “class three” rain.

Lewis Hamilton speaks after his opening race as a Ferrari driver, finishing 10th at the Australian Grand Prix.Asked about the apparent conflicting messages between the two cars, Vasseur said: “Yes, but this is very difficult that we don’t have a sensor for the rain, it means that it’s more a feeling, it’s what we can see on the screen, what we can have on the radar, it’s true from corner to corner.

“I think we were all surprised by the quantity of rain at this stage of the race, McLaren first, and now we did debate to stay on track with the slicks and to survive, but it was the wrong call.”

    Positie Coureur Punten
    1 Lewis Hamilton 4862.5
    2 Sebastian Vettel 3098
    3 Max Verstappen 3023.5
    4 Fernando Alonso 2337
    5 Kimi Räikkönen 1873
    6 Valtteri Bottas 1797
    7 Sergio Pérez 1638
    8 Nico Rosberg 1594.5
    9 Michael Schumacher 1566
    10 Charles Leclerc 1430

    Alonso blijft punten verzamelen

Australian sprinter Gout Gout set the world’s quickest time over 200m for 2025, demolishing the field at the Queensland Athletics Championships on Sunday.

The 17-year-old, who set a national record over the distance in December, crossed the line in 20.05s during the under-20 heats, beating the rest of the field by more than two seconds.

His time was a marked improvement on 2025’s previous best time, the 20.13s clocked by Zimbabwe’s Makanakaishe Charamba in Texas in February, and just outside his own national record and personal best of 20.04s. It was still quicker than Peter Norman’s previous national record of 20.06s, which had stood for 56 years until the youngster came along.

Gout even broke the 20-second barrier in the under-20 200m final at the meet in Brisbane, a wind-assisted 19.98s, but the time did not count due to the illegal +3.6m/s wind at his back.

Despite the unofficial time, the Queensland native can now be called the fastest Australian over 200m in all conditions. The teenager also sealed the under-20 100m title at the meet on Saturday, running 10.38s in the final and 10.39s in his heat.

It appears the sky is the limit for Gout, who improved on Usain Bolt’s best 200m time as a 16-year-old – 20.13s – with his Australian record in December. Bolt’s fastest 200m time aged 17 was 19.93s, which Gout is steadily creeping towards.

Georgia Bulldogs News: New football commit, heartbreaking injury, Carson Beck drama

Every weekend at Georgia is a busy one, but Friday and Saturday of this week have presented a lot of major stories surrounding Georgia athletics.

All of the news however is unfortunately not good news, so let’s dive right in beginning with the best thing to happen in Athens so far this weekend.

Georgia football adds new in-state commit

The last time Georgia football earned a commitment was back on Jan. 30. That however changed this weekend as the Bulldogs secured a commitment from three-star in-state wide receiver Brady Marchese.

Marchese marks the sixth commit of the 2026 class and the second wide receiver. Kirby Smart and his staff still have a long way to go with this recruiting class, but so far they are doing an excellent job at identifying talent that fits the identity of the program.

    Georgia’s first spring ball injury

It’s nearly impossible to go the entire spring without an injury, but that doesn’t make it any easier when they happen. Heading into spring ball, Smart detailed 11 injuries Georgia was working through already, but that number increased by one when freshman wide receiver Tyler Williams reportedly tore some ligaments in his ankle that will require surgery.

It is unfortunate for Williams to miss all of spring and likely most of the offseason with this injury, but the hope is that he will be 100 percent by the time the regular season rolls around this fall.

Ever since Carson Beck transferred from Georgia to Miami (FL), he has been unable to stay out of the news. The most recent off the field drama is surrounding him and his girlfriend, star Hurricanes basketball player Hanna Cavinder, breaking up. And the reason for the breakup is rumored to be caused from Beck cheating on her.

Beck’s tenure in Miami is off to a rocky start, and unfortunately for him the season doesn’t begin for a few months still. So it will be quite some time before any Miami fans are able to see something from him beyond the off the field drama.
