University of Georgia’s soccer team listens to “Georgia On My Mind” by Ray Charles after the Georgia vs. Michigan soccer game at Turner Soccer Complex in Athens, Georgia on Sunday, Aug. 24, 2025. Georgia won 3-0.
After a big win Thursday against the defending champion North Carolina, Georgia soccer did not take its foot off the pedal for its Senior Day game at the Turner Soccer Complex, overpowering Michigan 3-0 on Sunday. The victory gives the Bulldogs their first trio of consecutive clean sheets since early in their 2023 season.
Junior midfielder Summer Denigan scored twice and senior midfielder Juliauna Hayward added another to lead Georgia to its third straight win.
The Bulldogs took control early when Denigan hammered the ball in the net from 25 yards out off an assist from Hayward in the 19th minute.
In the 49th minute, Denigan scored another skillfully impressive goal, heading the ball past the keeper off the service from graduate defender BK Harris, who recorded her first assist as a Bulldog after transferring from USC.
Hayward clinched the match for Georgia in the 71st minute as she fired an unassisted strike from the top of the 18-yard box.
Georgia dominated Michigan offensively and defensively on the pitch, with twice the number of shots on goal as the Wolverines, and the defense forced freshman goalkeeper Hannah Folliard to make only one save throughout the entire game.
Before the match, seven senior players and three senior managers were recognized for their contributions to the program, receiving cheers from family, friends and fans.
“We’re always striving to get a little bit better, but today was about showing up for our seniors,” head coach Keidane McAlpine said. “Thanking them for all the work they’ve put in to build this program, change the narrative around Georgia soccer and elevate it. This year we’re going to continue to honor them in that way to build a program, but I was super happy with the way that we showed up to get the result today.”
Georgia looks to extend its win streak against North Florida at the Turner Soccer Complex on Thursday at 6:30 p.m.
