AC Milan are pushing for Koni De Winter, and he is now the main name to replace Malick Thiaw as per a report.
According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Milan have taken concrete steps to try and sign De Winter. The former Juventus defender, now at Genoa, was also in Inter’s sights. The Nerazzurri had even made an attempt to secure him in the event of a possible departure of Bisseck or Pavard.
At this point, however, Milan have ‘truly overtaken them’, having identified De Winter as the perfect player to add to their squad given Thiaw’s imminent departure to Newcastle.
The 2002-born defender is considered a top option for the Rossoneri, and contacts have already been initiated to try to get closer to striking a deal with Genoa.
Thiaw’s replacement?
In case you missed it, Milan and Newcastle have agreed a deal worth €40m including bonuses for Malick Thiaw, who has left the squad in order to fly back to Italy before undergoing a medical, per reports.
There have been some conflicting reports regarding the bonuses in the operation for the German. SportItalia said €35m as the fixed base and €5m in bonuses, while Daniele Longo said €36m plus €4m in bonuses.
