Uche on Making His Palace Debut & His Manager’s Message

Crystal Palace forward Uche finally had the moment he had been waiting for as he stepped onto the Selhurst Park pitch for his competitive debut. After months of training hard and adjusting to life in South London, the young striker’s introduction late in the second half against Fulham was the culmination of patience, belief, and trust from his manager Oliver Glasner.

Speaking after the game, Uche admitted that the experience was one he would cherish forever. “It felt amazing to finally make my debut. As a young player, you always dream about the day you can represent the club in front of the fans, and for me it was special to do it here at Selhurst Park. I just wanted to soak in the atmosphere, listen to the noise, and then focus on doing my job for the team,” he said.

Uche’s first touches were calm and composed, showing why Glasner has been keen to ease him into first-team action rather than rush his development. The forward linked play well, pressed with intensity, and even came close to getting on the scoresheet with a late shot that forced a smart save. For Palace fans, it was a glimpse of what might be to come from a player tipped to have a bright future.

The striker was quick to credit his manager for giving him belief and clear instructions before sending him on. “The gaffer just told me to play with freedom, trust my instincts, and work hard for the team. He said this is the reward for all the work I’ve been putting in during training and to enjoy the moment. That meant a lot because as a young player you can sometimes overthink things – but he reminded me that I was ready for this,” Uche revealed.

Glasner himself praised the youngster’s attitude and development in recent months. “Uche has been excellent in training. He listens, learns quickly, and has earned the respect of his teammates. We felt this was the right moment to give him his first minutes. He will only get better with experience,” said the Palace boss.

Palace supporters also welcomed Uche warmly, with many staying behind to applaud him off the pitch. For a club known for giving young players opportunities, his debut was another sign of their commitment to integrating academy talent and smart signings into the senior squad.

Looking ahead, Uche is eager to build on this milestone and contribute more regularly. “This is just the start. I know I have to keep working hard and take my chances when they come. Hopefully I can help the team with goals and assists, but for now I just want to keep learning every day,” he added.

For Crystal Palace, the emergence of Uche adds depth to their attacking options and gives fans reason to be excited about the future. If his debut performance is anything to go by, Glasner’s faith in him looks well placed – and this may just be the beginning of an exciting journey in red and blue.
