Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce expressed heartfelt gratitude for Usain Bolt’s support during her farewell race on Jamaican soil.

 

 

The 10-time world champion was in action at the Jamaican Championships, which doubled up as trials for the World Championships in Tokyo, Japan, later this year.

 

Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce finished an impressive third in the women’s 100m final, crossing the finish line in 10.91 seconds behind Tina Clayton and Shericka Jackson, who clocked respective times of 10.81 and 10.88.

“The support from Usain Bolt means a lot. For me, it has been a journey, and I know that for Jamaica, we have many athletes who can represent the country,” Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce told Television Jamaica.

 

“To have athletes who have retired to come back and support your vision and dream is really wonderful. Shout out to Usain and the whole grandstand and everyone that is here tonight, that is here to support. Thank you so much for the love, I’m truly grateful for it.”

The mother of one also appreciated her team, including her husband Jason Pryce, for holding her down during the tough moments and always offering guidance.

 

She revealed that without her husband, she would not have reached far, noting that God has played a major role in fulfilling His promises.

 

Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce noted that the first step was to qualify for the World Championships, and now going forward, her main focus is on working on some aspects of her race so she can be ready by the time she steps foot on the track in Tokyo.

“Right now, all the praise is to the Highest. I’m standing here because of the promises He made to me. I want to appreciate my team that has been there for me and encouraged me. My husband, of course, I don’t know what I would do without him,” Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce said.

 

“My coach and team, and I’m just grateful to be able to be here tonight, finishing healthy and being on the team for Tokyo. I’m really grateful for that. There is a lot to work on, but the first hurdle has been cleared. I have an opportunity to run in Tokyo, and that’s what matters.”
