    Anthony Elanga scores vs Spurs

With Newcastle United still chasing a deal to sign Anthony Elanga, Nottingham Forest have reportedly set their sights on signing a young Premier League gem who could replace the Swede.

Nottingham Forest battling to keep Elanga

Those in the Midlands managed to keep hold of Elanga last summer and that victory quickly paid dividends in an excellent season at the City Ground. The interest in the winger hasn’t gone away, however, and this time Newcastle have money to spend. The Magpies have already reportedly made an enquiry about signing the former Manchester United man and Forest face another fight to keep hold of one of their star players.

Elanga, himself, chose to remain coy when asked about his Nottingham Forest future whilst on international duty with Sweden recently, telling reporters: “There’s a lot of talk. I’m focusing on what I can do and my focus today was on the game. In football there are always rumors. The most important thing is that I focus on what I can control.”

After missing out on the Champions League even after a fantastic campaign, there may be some concern around the City Ground that Nuno Espirito Santo could lose his top players this summer.

As ever, Evangelos Marinakis has already set his sights on incomings of his own, though.

The Greek owner and Nottingham Forest have recently been linked with moves for the likes of Igor Jesus and Real Valladolid star Raul Moro. What’s more, the Tricky Trees are also reportedly interested in signing an impressive Premier League gem if Elanga chooses to leave the club in favour of Newcastle this summer.

Nottingham Forest assessing Oscar Bobb move

According to Football Insider’s Mick Brown, Marinakis is now assessing a Nottingham Forest move to sign Oscar Bobb from Manchester City this summer. The young winger returned from a lengthy spell on the sidelines towards the end of last season and will be desperate to get up to speed with some much-needed game time.

    Manchester City’s Oscar Bobb

Brown, a former Premier League scout, told Football Insider: “A Premier League loan move is exactly what Bobb needs. After the injury he had, he has to prove to everybody that he is still capable at this level.

“It’s difficult to come back from something like that, he has some proving to do, but he has to be playing regularly to do it. If you take him out of that Man City side and put him in another Premier League team, a Crystal Palace or a Nottingham Forest, it will show where he’s at. Palace and Forest are both clubs I’ve heard are having a look at the deal.

The 21-year-old is a player who Pep Guardiola believes has “incredible potential”, but his short-term future could lie at the City Ground. It’s there that he could step into Elanga’s role and discover his best form following a frustrating injury setback.

Crystal Palace now leading the race for ‘fantastic’ player Wolves tried to sign in January

After finishing in 16th position in the Premier League, Wolves are looking to push towards the top half in 2025/26, and measured recruitment will be key.

Ait-Nouri and Cunha amassed 32 goal involvements between them in 2024/25, and without them, Wolves could be in big trouble.

But whilst there is a focus on replacing two of their main sources of goals, Vitor Pereira also has a centre-back on his radar, preferably someone left-footed to challenge Toti Gomes.

Robert Renan has emerged as a target for Wolves, though a player the Wanderers were linked with in January could now join a Premier League rival.

Japhet Tanganga during Millwall FC v Sheffield United FC – Sky Bet Championship

Crystal Palace have entered the race to sign Japhet Tanganga

In January, there was an onus on Pereira to improve one of the division’s worst defences, doing so with the additions of Emmanuel Agbadou and Nasser Djiga.

But following a stellar 2024/25 campaign, which saw him win the club’s Player of the Year award, the 26-year-old is now attracting interest from newly-promoted Leeds United, Sunderland and Burnley.

According to The Express, established top-flight side Crystal Palace have also entered the race for his signature, and it is believed the Eagles could have the edge if it turned into a straight four-way battle.

It emerged last week that Tanganga is available to Premier League clubs for just £1.2 million due to a clause in his contract, and while that has left Millwall sweating, several teams are licking their lips at the chance to land such a bargain.

Jose Mourinho once called Tanganga ‘fantastic’ after breaking into the first-team during his time as Tottenham manager, and now, there’s a possibility he could return to the big time, but not with Wolves.

Tanganga is no longer on Wolves’ radar

Wolves were linked with so many different centre-backs in the January transfer window, and they were only £1.2 million shy of signing Thomas Kristensen.

Though, after Pereira turned Matt Doherty into a right centre-back and watched Agbadou dominate in the Premier League, there was no longer any need to go for Tanganga.

Considering he’s a talented ball-playing defender with an eye for goal, it’s a shame they’ve perhaps quashed their interest.

However, since the need to sign a left-footed centre-back is much more pressing, Pereira is pouring his focus into that.

But realistically, anything can happen in the transfer window, and it wouldn’t be a surprise if Wolves also joined the race for the Englishman.

Better than Bijol: Leeds targeting “best CB outside the top five leagues”

Leeds United have a massive summer ahead of them in the coming months, with shrewd additions needed if the side are to survive the drop in the Premier League next season.

Daniel Farke has done a tremendous job leading the side back to the top-flight, but the real job starts now, with the German needing to keep the side in the division.

None of the last six sides to secure promotion back to such a division have been able to remain in it for longer than one season, highlighting the task on the Whites’ hands in 2025/26.

    daniel farke

Whilst they secured the Championship title in 2024/25, multiple additions will be needed in key areas of the pitch this summer, with added depth and quality required if they are to buck the recent trend.

With the season less than two months away and with no additions made, the hierarchy need to start making moves to strengthen the first team squad, leading to countless names being thrown into the mix.

The latest on Leeds’ hunt for new additions this summer

All areas of the pitch have been subject to links for Leeds in the last couple of weeks, with Farke evidently plotting moves for numerous talents before the start of the season.

The likes of Fabio Silva, Douglas Luiz and Japhet Tanganga have all been mooted with moves to Yorkshire, but as of yet, no deals have edged closer for any of the aforementioned trio.

    douglas-luiz-juventus-champions-league

However, another name has entered the mix over the last couple of days, with Celtic centre-back Cameron Carter-Vickers firmly on their radar, according to 67 Hail Hail.

Their report claims that the Whites are battling Sunderland for the 27-year-old, with the Scottish side potentially holding out for a fee in the region of £25m for his signature.

It also states that the American could be tempted by a return to the Premier League, with the real expectation that he will leave Brendan Rodgers’ side before the end of the summer window.

Why Leeds’ £25m target would be a better option than Bijol

Over the last couple of days, Leeds have emerged as strong contenders to secure a deal for Udinese centre-back Jaka Bijol, with the Slovenian appearing a key target for Farke’s side.

Napoli’s David Neres in action with Udinese’s Jaka Bijol

The Whites have already had their first bid for the 26-year-old rejected, but remain in talks with the Serie A side over a move to land the defender ahead of the 2025/26.

It’s been reported that the first bid was in the region of £15m, but it remains to be seen how much the Italian side would be demanding to part ways with Bijol this window.

He’s been a key member of the side this campaign, featuring in all but four matches, highlighting his importance to the side and making it understandable that they don’t want to part ways with him this summer.

They should look past a move for the Slovenian and prioritise a deal for the Celtic star, offering a better defensive option ahead of their return to the Premier League.

    carter-vickers-celtic-transfer-gossip-premiership-rodgers

However, when comparing his stats to those of Carter-Vickers this campaign, the American has massively outperformed him in numerous key areas, showcasing why the board needs to pursue a move for his signature.

The 27-year-old, who’s been labelled “the best centre-back outside the top five leagues” by Euro Expert, has completed more passes and made more progressive passes per 90 – showcasing his ability to play out from the back when needed.

He’s also starred out of possession, winning more tackles per 90, and making more interceptions, having the talent without the ball, massively aiding their survival battle next season.

The former Spurs star has also won more aerial battles, having an impact at both ends of the pitch, potentially offering a set-piece threat within the final third.

Whilst he may be an expensive addition for the Whites this summer, his figures produced this campaign are examples of the talent he possesses – offering a better signing than Bijol.

Both players would massively improve the options currently in the first team squad, with Farke needing to work tirelessly in the coming months to secure Carter-Vickers’ signature.

  • Certainly! Here’s a 500-word piece on the heading # Ipswich Town: Eight strikers who could replace Liam Dela

Certainly! Here’s a 500-word piece on the heading # Ipswich Town: Eight strikers who could replace Liam Dela

Ipswich Town: Eight Strikers Who Could Replace Liam Delap

With Liam Delap returning to Manchester City after a loan spell at Portman Road, Ipswich Town are on the hunt for a new striker to spearhead their attack.

Delap’s physicality, pressing, and ability to stretch defences were crucial components of Kieran McKenna’s system. Replacing him won’t be easy, but there are several exciting options who could fill the void. Here are eight strikers Ipswich Town should consider this summer.

    1. Kieffer Moore (AFC Bournemouth)

An experienced Championship forward, Moore would offer Ipswich aerial dominance and a proven goal threat. With Premier League experience and a strong work ethic, he could be a leader on and off the pitch. Moore may be available if Bournemouth reshuffle their squad.

    2. Ellis Simms (Coventry City)

Simms enjoyed a productive 2023–24 season and could be tempted by a move if offered a prominent role. At 6’3”, he’s a strong, mobile striker with Championship pedigree and Premier League potential. Ipswich’s attacking style may suit him perfectly.

    3. Jerry Yates (Swansea City)

Yates is a tenacious forward known for pressing from the front and scoring in bursts. Though he had a quiet campaign last season, his movement and energy would make him a good fit in McKenna’s system. He also adds versatility, being able to play in a front two.

    4. Josh Maja (West Bromwich Albion)

A smart, technical striker, Maja could thrive in Ipswich’s possession-based approach. Injuries have hindered his impact at West Brom, but he remains a clinical finisher when fit. A fresh start could rejuvenate his career.

    5. Liam Millar (FC Basel)

The Canadian international has pace and creativity, offering a slightly different profile from Delap. While more of a wide forward, Millar has played centrally and would suit Ipswich’s fluid attacking style. A loan or permanent move could be viable.

    6. Tom Cannon (Leicester City)

Cannon had a breakthrough spell at Preston before joining Leicester. With limited minutes under Enzo Maresca, a loan move could benefit all parties. He’s quick, confident, and has the finishing ability to shine in a team like Ipswich.

    7. Jamal Lowe (Free Agent)

Recently released by Bournemouth, Lowe brings versatility and Championship experience. He’s comfortable as a central striker or winger and could offer short-term impact with minimal financial risk. His pressing and directness could replicate some of Delap’s strengths.

    8. Rhys Healey (Free Agent)

Having returned from France, Healey is a wildcard option. He boasts a strong scoring record in Ligue 2 and MLS, and at 29, he’s entering his peak years. If Ipswich want a hungry, proven finisher, Healey might be worth a punt.

Replacing Delap won’t just be about goals—it’s about finding a forward who fits Ipswich’s high-tempo, intelligent system. Whether they opt for youth, experience, or a tactical curveball, the next striker will play a crucial role in Town’s Championship ambitions—or potentially, a Premier League push.

Wisconsin Football: 2027 In-State OL Receives Huge Three-Star Rating

Wisconsin offensive line coach AJ Blazek works with J.P. Benzschawel during the team’s 10th spring practice, which was held on a practice field north of Camp Randall Stadium in Madison, Wisconsin on Saturday April 20, 2024.

A top 2027 in-state recruit has been on the radar of the Wisconsin football staff, and now picks up a third star.

Ethan McIntosh, a 2027 offensive lineman, is a native of Verona, Wisconsin and has been on the recruiting circuit for quite some time.

McIntosh has finally been entered into the systems, however, and is now considered to be a three-star recruit within the class. The recruit has a rather interesting connection to the program as McIntosh is the son of Chris, the current Wisconsin athletic director.

The 6-foot-7-inch, 235-pound offensive lineman brings serious agility and athleticism to the line with a frame that could still fit more mass over time. McIntosh is also an accomplished wrestler and fit the wrestling-offensive/defensive line hybrid the Wisconsin football staff often hunts for.

Wisconsin offensive line coach AJ Blazek works with guard Joe Brunner during the team’s final spring practice, which was held on the field north of Camp Randall Stadium on Thursday May 2, 2024 in Madison, Wisconsin.

Currently, McIntosh is ranked as the sixth-overall recruit in the state of Wisconsin in the 2027 recruiting class. The offensive lineman pulls in the 42nd ranking in the class at his position, with still plenty of room to grow moving forward for the athletic recruit. McIntosh holds offers from Iowa, Iowa State, Kansas, Northwestern, North Dakota, and Washington State.

While McIntosh does not have an offer in hand yet from the Wisconsin football staff, the talented offensive lineman is someone the staff is keeping an eye on moving forward.

Wisconsin has made a habit of watching players over the course of a season before extending an offer, which is a common practice.

The Badgers have liked what they have seen from McIntosh thus far, and could become a serious player moving forward as the recruiting process continues to grow for the offensive lineman. Offers have only just begun rolling in for McIntosh who has been busy as of late attending camps.

Speaking of attending camps, McIntosh is set to visit Wisconsin this weekend to attend the annual Wisconsin football event Bucky’s BBQ. The event is set to be a major recruiting networking moment for Wisconsin, but especially for McIntosh who is just starting to build relationships with coaches.

While McIntosh has a great connection to Wisconsin, the staff will have to extend an offer before the recruit begins to serious consider playing for the program.

Former West Virginia basketball head coach Darian DeVries recently stopped by Jon Rothstein’s Eye On College Basketball podcast by CBS Sports, and among the topics discussed was his departure from Morgantown.

DeVries left the program after his first season to take the same position at Indiana in a sudden move that left many WVU basketball fans feeling betrayed. The move came just days after the 19-13 Mountaineers were snubbed from the NCAA Tournament in a move that shocked the college basketball world. And according to DeVries, he wasn’t excited about the prospect of leaving West Virginia.

“We had a lot of great support from the administration and the people. So it was certainly a place that you weren’t looking to leave by any means,” DeVries said. “It’s a place where we were very happy, and we had an enjoyable first year and we were looking forward to the future together. But ultimately it just felt like the Indiana job was an opportunity you couldn’t pass up.”

DeVries also mentioned that the administration in Morgantown was very supportive during the process, and he sung the praises of WVU AD Wren Baker’s approach to the situation.

“Wren’s a terrific AD, and [I’m] certainly thankful for the opportunity he gave me — and their entire administration: Ben Murray, I worked with him a lot too,” DeVries told Rothstein. “But it’s not an easy conversation. It’s certainly something we had talked about, the two days there of what it looked like and the decision making process.”

Joy Naukot’s Big Finish at the NCAA Track and Field Championships

West Virginia track and field star Joy Naukot capped an amazing freshman season on Thursday night with a Top 3 finish in the women’s 10,000 meter run at the NCAA Championships.

Under the lights at historic Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore. — one of the most storied venues in the sport — Naukot shattered the previous meet record (alongside four other competitors) in a blazing fast race that saw her capture the bronze medal with a new program record of 31 minutes, 34.34 seconds.

The Kapenguria, Kenya, native was honored for her performance with First-Team All-American honors, becoming just the fourth woman in program history to earn the achievement in the 10,000 meter run.

West Virginia Basketball Learns Big 12 Opponents For Upcoming Season

WVU basketball now knows who and where they’ll be playing in Big 12 action this season, and it comes with a bit of a twist.

The twist is that the Big 12 has officially reduced itself back to an 18-game schedule for the 2025-2026 season — that was the previous norm for the league before last year, when it jumped to 20 league games upon the conference expanding to 16 teams. Now, the league will go back to its former approach, allowing teams a couple additional out-of-conference games.

The Mountaineers will play just three teams in a traditional home-and-home series, with Cincinnati, Kansas State, and UCF on that list. The Mountaineers will also receive visits from Baylor, BYU, Colorado, Kansas, Texas Tech and Utah, while they’ll find taking trips to Arizona, Arizona State, Houston, Iowa State, Oklahoma State and TCU. Dates and times are yet to be released.

Former WVU guard finds new coaching gig

Former West Virginia basketball guard Jordan McCabe is on the move once again.

McCabe has had a rocky couple of years in the coaching industry — he spent the 2023-2024 season as an assistant on the staff at WVU under Interim Head Coach Josh Eilert in a historically bad season for the Mountaineers, and spent 2024-2025 as an assistant at Green Bay under Doug Gottlieb, who led the Phoenix to a dismal 4-28 record.

Now, McCabe will be joining Bryce Drew’s staff at Grand Canyon, where he hopefully won’t encounter the same losing ways as at his past two stops — Drew has taken the Antelopes to the NCAA Tournament 4 out of the last 5 years.

Wisconsin Football Staff Lands New Top Ranked 2026 Commitment Zachary Taylor

Wisconsin Badgers head coach Luke Fickell during the game against the Oregon Ducks at Camp Randall Stadium.

After hosting Zachary Taylor for an official visit, the Wisconsin football staff quickly locked-in a commitment with the defensive back.

Taylor, a three-star 2026 defensive back from Texas, announced his commitment to the Badgers just days after stepping foot on campus for the first time.

Taylor is one of the newest recruits Wisconsin contact within the 2026 class, earning a scholarship in late April from the staff. Wisconsin acted quickly, however, and booked an official visit with a recruit who appeared to be destined to stay close to home.

The defensive back previously visited TCU, Texas Tech, and Houston and had positive interactions with all programs. The 6-foot-2-inch, 185-pound defensive back has the ability to play both safety and cornerback with ease which has drawn extra attention towards the recruit.

Wisconsin not only added a great talent on the field in Taylor, but also added to the 2026 recruiting class in a major way. Taylor is currently the top ranked recruit in the 2026 recruiting class for the Badgers.

    Wisconsin Badgers, Darrion Dupree

Wisconsin Badgers running back Darrion Dupree (13) rushes with the football during warmups prior to the game against the Penn State Nittany Lions at Camp Randall Stadium.

Wisconsin adding Zachary Taylor is a big addition and not only because of the rating of the recruit but also due to his rare skillset.

As mentioned previously, Taylor stands tall at 6-feet-2-inches which is a massive frame for a defensive back. Taylor also possesses rare speed, recording a 4.39 40-yard dash time previously which would put the defensive back in elite company. The recruit has great footwork, a long frame, and speed skills that simply cannot be taught which has truly set Taylor apart in the eyes of the Wisconsin football staff.

Taylor had been one of the top recruits on the recruiting board of Wisconsin and represents a major win far from home for the staff as well. Moving forward, Taylor will likely play safety after coach Jack Cooper extended the original scholarship offer. However Wisconsin could certainly move Taylor around and utilize the defensive back in many different ways.

Three-time Olympic gold medalist and former USC Trojans track and field star Rai Benjamin has made his return to the track in Oslo, Norway, on the Diamond League circuit, where he competed in the 300-meter hurdles against the former 400-meter Olympic champion Karsten Warholm and former 400-meter world champion and Olympic medalist Alison dos Santos. The race marked Benjamin’s first hurdle race since winning Gold in Paris nearly a year ago.

The three aforementioned athletes, dubbed the “Big Three,” have all made the podium in the 400-meter hurdles and are the three fastest men to ever run in the event. Any time those three take the track together, a world record is usually broken, and Thursday was no exception. While the former Trojan led for most of the race and stormed to a personal best of 33.22, it was Warholm who stole the show at the end to run a world record of 32.67. Dos Santos finished third with a final time of 33.38.

Rai Benjamin (USA) celebrates winning the men’s 400m hurdles final during the Paris 2024 Olympic Summer Games at Stade de France.

The dynamic trio will race again in their main event, the 400-meter hurdles, this week in the Stockholm Diamond League event. This will be Benjamin’s first 400-meter hurdle since the Olympic title was won, and he’ll look to enact revenge on his rival Warholm. While these races are entertaining and important, Benjamin is focused on the long game and making sure his body is prepped for the future.

“From a health perspective, just running a lot of meets can sometimes wear you out,” said Benjamin, of the strategy of minimising the number of events he chooses to run in order to potentially extend his career. “And it doesn’t take very long for me to be ready for a championship, whether it’s USAs or Worlds. And once I’m healthy, that’s the focus, so we pick and choose. I want to be able to run something fast every time I get on the track.”

“He’s a very smart guy, so he knows his body and we try to make good choices to keep him healthy,” says coach Joanna Hayes, a former Olympic gold medallist in the 100-meter hurdles herself. “He’s had a lot of injuries in the past so the races that he runs all have to make sense.”

Benjamin, Noah Lyles, and Grant Holloway, all three Olympic gold medalists, have been podcasting together and creating content since their Olympic triumphs. While the podcast is noteworthy, we haven’t seen much of them on the track just yet, but with Benjamin making two appearances this week and national trials around the corner, we’ll continue to see the record-breakers and champions in action.

Gold medalist Rai Benjamin (USA), silver medalist Karsten Warholm (NOR), and bronze medalist Alison Dos Santos (BRA) during the medal ceremony for the men’s 400m hurdles during the Paris 2024 Olympic Summer Games at Stade de France.

“We’re trying to get out there and brand ourselves, especially leading into 2028 (Los Angeles Olympics) where we have home-field advantage. It’s good to get the audience involved and look at us and look at our personalities. It’s been awesome so far,” Benjamin added.

As Benjamin and fellow USA track and field athletes continue preparing for the World Championships and already look ahead to the 2028 Olympics, being visible on and off the track is a major point of emphasis. Following her victory at the Diamond League Meeting in Oslo, Julien Alfred revealed that the race was more of a training session to gauge where her body is as far as the 100m is concerned.

It was Julien Alfred’s first 100m of the season, and according to her, everything went as she had expected. She revealed that going forward, she will be looking to work on her finishing.

“I have no complaints, I’m healthy, and that’s all that matters. As long as I have a great execution, because that’s what I’m working on, nothing else matters.
