Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner revealed that his ongoing contract talks with chairman Steve Parish centre on developing every aspect of the club.

The recently crowned Austrian Manager of the Year is out of contract at the end of the season, with initial discussions over new terms already underway.

Glasner, who was named Premier League Manager of the Month for September, is in regular contact with Parish as the pair look to align on the club’s long-term vision and extend what has become a golden era at Selhurst Park.

Palace broke the glass ceiling last season by winning the FA Cup – the first major trophy in the club’s 120-year history – and Glasner is eager to see continued progress across all areas of the club.

In 2021, Palace opened their state-of-the-art £20 million academy, and the club hopes to complete the long-awaited new Main Stand within three years as part of an extensive upgrade to its facilities – designed to match the winning culture on the pitch with world-class operations off

“We are talking, but we have 19 games to play before the new year,” said Glasner. “I am here to do the best for Crystal Palace and win as many games as possible.

“With all the things around the games, there are not many evenings or days when we can talk about my contract with my focus on it. There is so much going on, the players and club deserve 100% Oliver Glasner. I don’t want to be distracted.

“We are looking for the right moments to talk. The club are not in a rush. I met Steve four or five times this week. He appreciates that I am always giving 100% and I appreciate our open and honest communication.

“It’s all about being successful and I want to be as successful as possible with my team for Crystal Palace. This is what I will give every day.

“It’s not about Oliver Glasner’s thoughts, it’s also the chairman, all the employees, the owners. It’s extending the stadium capacity. Building a new stand has been a project for years and it’s what the club wants. It’s important to get more revenue. The PSR rules are becoming stricter.

“It started with building the academy and attracting other players to Crystal Palace. It’s not just one thing that we need to do to make the next step. If we want to make sustainable improvement as a club, we need to take the right steps in every department.

“I still think our media department is too small for international football, four competitions. The schedule is full. It’s not just me, it’s all the players, the organisation, the meeting rooms, we have to do our press conferences for the international games at the academy [because the facility at the first team training ground is not suitable for UEFA’s requirements].

“Last year’s sporting success has to be followed by the infrastructure and the company, which has to happen to be sustainable. This is what the club is doing really well. They are working hard to take the right steps. The stand hasn’t been built, everyone wants it, but it’s not so easy.”

Glasner confirmed that club captain Marc Guehi has informed Palace he will not be signing a new contract and will leave on a free transfer at the end of the season, after his proposed move to Liverpool this summer collapsed on Deadline Day.

He emphasised that maintaining consistency within the squad is vital to sustaining the club’s success, adding that he hopes Palace can establish themselves as a destination for top players.

“We are talking about what is necessary, what the club wants to be, how we can use this to develop the sporting side, how we can keep players and get new ones in?”

“Consistency is so important. We sold Michael Olise, Joachim Andersen and Eberechi Eze for good money. Marc already told us that he won’t sign a new contract, so he will leave next year.

“Not just me, but the club wanted Marc to sign a new deal and offered him one, but he wants something different. That’s normal, it’s about how we can deal with these situations and the best way to take the next step. This is what we are talking about together.

“In any company where two leaders have different visions, you go separate ways and can’t achieve your goals. This is what we are talking about. If we can find the same pathway and goal for Crystal Palace, then we will end the talks and if we can’t, we will also end the talks [with different outcomes].”
