Oliver Glasner says it would be disrespectful of Liverpool’s players to say his Crystal Palace side beat a weakened team at Anfield. The Eagles advanced to the fifth round of the Carabao Cup with a 3-0 win after Yeremy Pino added to Ismaila Sarr’s first-half brace.
Arne Slot made 10 changes in total from Saturday’s 3-2 defeat to Brentford as the likes of Kieran Morrison, Trey Nyoni and Calvin Ramsay were selected in a match-day squad that had no senior players on the bench.
Glasner, though, pointed out the experience and quality Slot had in his lineup on the evening, saying: “We saw Arne Slot’s decision and it is disrespectful to all their players (to say it was a weak team).
“I have seen Joe Gomez win the Champions League and the Premier League with them; I have seen Wataru Endo play a lot of games for Japan; I have seen Alexis Mac Allister, he won the World Cup with Argentina; I have seen Kerkez, who cost £40m; I have seen Chiesa, who has played for Italy.
“I think it would be disrespectful if we say that. Everyone who wears this [Liverpool] badge has quality.”
