Ofili, Brume join Amusan for Atlanta City Games

Nigerian track stars Favour Ofili and Ese Brume have been listed to compete at the 2025 Adidas Atlanta City Games alongside world record holder Tobi Amusan, following the release of the updated start lists for the street athletics event scheduled for Saturday, May 17 at Piedmont Park, Atlanta, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

The trio will be representing Nigeria in their respective events at the meet, which features some of the world’s top athletes in a festival-style atmosphere aimed at bringing track and field closer to the public.

Amusan, who last competed at the Diamond League meets in Xiamen and Keqiao, where she clocked 12.74s and 12.66s respectively in the women’s 100m hurdles, will aim to sharpen her form ahead of the summer championships.

PUNCH Sports Extra reported that she confirmed her participation through social media and encouraged fans to attend the free-to-watch event.

Ofili, fresh from her participation in the Miami Grand Slam Track 100m and 200m, will line up in the women’s 150m race, where she faces a competitive field including Jamaica’s Ashanti Moore and Britain’s Daryll Neita.

Multiple-time global medallist in the long jump, Brume, is also set to make her second season appearance after making a debut at the 115th Drake Relays in late April. She will compete against elite jumpers, including Quanesha Burks and Jasmine Moore of the United States.

The Adidas Atlanta City Games is a competition held outside the traditional stadium setting, allowing fans close-up access to world-class athletics. The event will feature sprint races, hurdles, middle-distance contests, long jump, and pole vault events. It is scheduled to be broadcast live on NBC from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm Nigerian time on Saturday.

The participation of Amusan, Ofili, and Brume comes in the wake of Nigeria’s disappointing withdrawal from the World Relays in Guangzhou, where Amusan and Ofili had been slated to compete before visa issues forced the country to pull out.
