Noah Lyles and Sha’Carri Richardson to anchor – Olympic legend picks his perfect Team USA 4x100m squad

Trinidad and Tobago’s track legend Ato Boldon made his ideal Team USA 4x100m lineups.

Legendary Trinidadian sprinter Ato Boldon has selected his perfect Team USA 4x100m relay squad with Noah Lyles and Sha’Carri Richardson as anchor leg runners.

Boldon, who works as an NBC Sports television track and field broadcast analyst, revealed his perfect formation capable of dominating at the upcoming World Championships in Tokyo this summer.

In the men’s 4x100m, the respected analyst and former sprinter selected Christian Coleman as his first leg runner, Fred Kerley in second, Kenny Bednarek in third, and Olympic champion Lyles to bring the baton home.

While in the women’s category, he picked Melissa Jefferson-Wooden, Tee Tee Terry, Gabby Thomas, and reigning world champion Richardson as the anchor leg runner.

Boldon, a four-time Olympic medallist and Trinidad and Tobago national record holder in the 50m, 60m, and 200m events with times of 5.64s, 6.49s, and 19.77s respectively, made his selection based on their capabilities amid the underlying problems weighing down Team USA at major relay championships.

At the just concluded World Relays in Guangzhou, China, Team USA had a poor outing by standard, having failed to medal in the women’s 4x100m after finishing fourth, and settled for second position in the men’s category. In contrast, the mixed 4x100m relay didn’t make it to the final.

Despite the absence of their top stars like Richardson, Lyles, Thomas, Kerley, Coleman, and Jefferson-Wooden, the team’s performances were below par, considering the large pool of talent the country has at its disposal.
