Leicester City are expected to oversee another busy transfer window as they continue reshaping their squad following a disappointing campaign. With financial considerations and squad rebuilding likely to be high on the agenda, there are several players who appear destined to leave the King Power Stadium in the coming months.
In fact, Leicester could generate as much as £50 million by selling four players who are no longer viewed as central to the club’s long-term plans. While departures are never straightforward, the signs increasingly point towards a significant summer clear-out.
One of the most likely exits is midfielder Wilfred Ndidi. The Nigerian international has been a loyal servant to Leicester since arriving in 2017 and played a major role in some of the club’s greatest achievements, including the FA Cup triumph in 2021. However, injuries and inconsistent form have affected his influence in recent seasons. With interest from clubs across Europe and the Middle East, Leicester may decide that now is the ideal time to cash in on one of their highest-profile assets.
Another player who could be on his way out is Patson Daka. The Zambian striker arrived with a strong reputation after his prolific spell with Red Bull Salzburg, but he has struggled to establish himself as a regular goalscorer in England. Despite flashes of quality, Daka has never fully convinced as Leicester’s first-choice striker. A move elsewhere could benefit both player and club, while Leicester would hope to recoup a sizeable portion of their original investment.
Defender Wout Faes is also attracting attention. The Belgian centre-back has been a regular starter, but Leicester’s defensive record has often come under scrutiny. While Faes possesses qualities that appeal to clubs in major European leagues, there is a growing sense that Leicester would consider offers if they met the club’s valuation. Selling Faes could allow the Foxes to reinvest in younger defensive options while helping balance the books.
The fourth player who may be sacrificed is Boubakary Soumaré. The French midfielder has enjoyed spells of good form but has struggled to consistently command a starting place. Given his age and pedigree, Soumaré remains an attractive proposition for clubs in France, Germany and Italy. Leicester could receive a healthy fee for a player who still possesses considerable resale value.
Combined, these four players could generate somewhere between £40 million and £50 million, depending on market conditions and the level of competition among interested clubs. Such income would provide Leicester with much-needed flexibility in the transfer market and help fund a squad overhaul.
Importantly, selling players does not necessarily signal a lack of ambition. Modern football increasingly requires clubs to make difficult decisions regarding player trading. Leicester themselves have previously benefited from this model, selling stars such as Harry Maguire, Ben Chilwell and Wesley Fofana for substantial profits before reinvesting in the squad.
The coming weeks will reveal exactly how Leicester intend to approach the transfer window, but the likelihood of these four departures appears stronger than ever. If suitable offers arrive, Ndidi, Daka, Faes and Soumaré could all be wearing different colours next season, with Leicester potentially banking up to £50 million in the process and taking another important step in their rebuilding project.
