Leicester City’s new manager will have £10m to spend in League One and are already making plans to reinforce the squad.

According to Alan Nixon on Patreon, the Foxes have made it clear that there is a budget ready for quick deals as they look to bounce back to the Championship at the first attempt.

Following a dismal season, Leicester are braced for some big changes to the squad with players set to leave in order to slash the wage bill.

But according to Nixon, Leicester will have an eight-figure sum to spend on new arrivals with a striker at the top of their priority list.

The Foxes have already been linked with a move for Plymouth hotshot Lorent Tolaj who has attracted plenty of interest from Championship clubs including Millwall and Sheffield United.

Tolaj has hit double figures again in the EFL this season and only moved to Home Park last year following a successful stint with Port Vale.

But Leicester’s most pressing matter is to appoint a manager for next season with Gary Rowett having taking charge until the end of the campaign back in February.

He made his pitch for the job yesterday, saying: “I see a fantastic opportunity here,” Rowett said. “There’s going to be some big decisions. It’s going to need someone who is brave enough to make those decisions.

“This team needs to look very different, the culture needs to look very different. But it’s a great opportunity, so of course I would like that opportunity.

“But what’s more important is the club getting it right, because it’s a fabulous football club.

“I’ve enjoyed the 14 games. It’s been tinged with frustration and disappointment that we’ve played well in a lot of those games and lost four of them. We shouldn’t have lost that. We should have won a lot more. But it’s easy to say that.

“It’s important the club get it right, whatever decision that is. But of course I’d like this opportunity to rebuild this. I think I could be exactly what the club needs.”
