Leicester City legends’ post-match celebration as Christian Fuchs manager return plea made

Leicester City fans were able to put the misery of the last two seasons to one side on Saturday afternoon as they joined together to celebrate the success of 2016.

From Marc Albrighton’s famous in-swinging crosses to Yohan Benalouane leaving one on the attacker, to Jamie Vardy strolling on the pitch in sunglasses whilst his stunner against Liverpool 10 years ago played on the pitch.

Conrad Logan, manager of local non-league side Anstey Nomads, was the hero at the end of the game with two great penalty saves.

Fuchs manager call

Fuchs’ return to Leicester coincided with him being a manager in charge of League Two side Newport County. His name has been very briefly mentioned as a candidate to take over the Foxes in League One.

Upon arriving at the King Power Stadium less than two hours before kick-off, Fuchs spent time taking pictures with the fans that camped outside the players’ reception. One banner asked Fuchs to be Leicester’s new manager…

Hero reception for Ranieri

How good was it to see Ranieri back at Leicester? The Italian never got to say goodbye to fans when he was sacked in 2017 and has only returned a few times since.

Very early in the game, his famous chant was sung by those inside the stadium and the title-winning manager made sure he soaked it in. He stepped-out of the dug-out, turned and waved to the three sections of the ground open with a huge smile on his face.

The same moment happened a couple of more times and he loved every single one of them.

Post-match dinner

As the supporters inside the stadium filtered out of the stands, work began across the dugout and down the touchline. Around 12 benches were put into position in the sun with a catering station set-up nearby.

Then, players from both teams slowly emerged from the tunnel alongside their family. It looked set to be a chance for the players to properly catch-up and enjoy the last remaining of the sun.

A PA announcement was then put out to the fans waiting outside the reception of the King Power Stadium to inform them that the players won’t be coming out to take photographs for a while.

The celebrations continued with friends and family.

Top’s moment with fans

Khun Top was spotted for the first time since City’s relegation was confirmed last month, with the City owner and family attending yesterday’s charity game.

He ensured to take pictures with some supporters that asked, one in particular thanking him for everything after getting their snap. After the contest, Top engaged with more supporters inside the club shop.

Many got a few seconds to speak to the chairman before getting a picture. He was then escorted out of the shop and into his car after receiving one more, “thank you”.

Referee’s special occasion

For those who didn’t know, the game’s referee, John Brookes is a massive Leicester City fan. Because of that, he is unable to officiate any Foxes game or ones linked to them in any way.

He didn’t let the occasion get to him though, giving fouls when needed and even pulled out the ‘vanishing spray’ to mark out the position of the ball for Marc Albrighton.

Brookes then made sure to get captain Wes Morgan a big high-five as the defender was substituted off.
