The winger is almost certain to be sold and City need to get as much money for him as possible to cope with the fall in revenue that comes with being in League One
Growing interest in Abdul Fatawu could give Leicester City a chance of making a significant profit on the winger.
Fatawu is City’s most valuable asset and will be sold this summer to help the club cope with the drastic fall in revenue.
Plenty of Premier League clubs have already been linked to the Ghanaian, including Sunderland, Everton and Fulham, some of whom are reigniting interest they had last summer.
Now, there are suggestions of interest from overseas. Sky in Germany report that Bundesliga side RB Leipzig have Fatawu on a list of wide targets.
It’s said they are monitoring the 22-year-old in case they lose one of their current wingers this summer, and that no contact has been made yet.

Sky has upgraded its Ultimate TV and Sky Sports bundle to now include HBO Max, Netflix, Disney+, discovery+ and Hayu, as well as 135 channels and full Sky coverage of the Premier League and EFL.
Sky broadcasts more than 1,400 live matches across the Premier League, EFL and more with at least 215 live from the top flight alongside Formula 1, darts and golf.
But the greater the interest in Fatawu, the better for City. Selling for around £35m, as was his supposed price-tag last summer, seems unlikely now that the club are in League One, but if more sides are willing to make bids, City should still be able to make a handsome profit on a player they signed for £14m two seasons ago.
There’s unlikely to be progress on any deal until later in the summer though, with Fatawu likely to be going to the World Cup.
It’s expected that he will be in the Black Stars squad, alongside City team-mate Jordan Ayew, as they take on England, Croatia and Panama in North America. Ghana have got warm-up matches against Mexico and Wales prior to then.
The only other player who looks like making it to the tournament is Harry Souttar, whose return from 16 months out to play in City’s final two fixtures of the season has boosted his chances of making the Australia squad. He’s currently at a warm-up camp with the Socceroos.
Their manager Tony Popovic said: “When you don’t play for 16 months and you can produce not just the results – they had a draw and a win with Harry in the team – but if you watch him perform and you watch those two games, there is presence, there is aura, there is a leader.
“You can’t get that in a young player overnight. That takes time. And he’s done it at a World Cup when he also played underdone.
“So they’ve shown the resilience and mentality that you need at a World Cup. Because you need to be able to suffer. You need to be able to go through tough times. These boys have done that in their own personal journey.”
