Ipswich Town skipper Sam Morsy has been linked with Derby County this morning
Double promotion-winning Ipswich Town skipper Sam Morsy has been linked with a move away from Suffolk this summer.
Morsy, 33, is in the last year of his contract at Portman Road, with journalist Alan Nixon reporting on X this morning that fellow Championship side Derby County are interested.
Nixon claims that Morsy could leave Town ‘if the right offer comes in’, and says Rams’ boss John Eustace is a ‘huge fan of his experience.’
Morsy is one of just three midfielders in the Blues’ senior squad at the moment, with the others – Jack Taylor and returning loanee Cameron Humphreys – having never consistently started for Kieran McKenna’s men.
Given he’s in the last year of his contract and is a serial winner, it’s perhaps no surprise to see Morsy linked with moves this summer.
Town are obviously in the middle of an engine room revamp, with the all-action Matusiwa on the way and the Ruiz link emerging yesterday.
But Morsy will still have an important part to play next season. He’s the beating heart of the Blues, and I’d be surprised if he was allowed to move on this summer.
