Ipswich Town loan man Cedric Kipre has confirmed his desire to stay at Portman Road beyond the end of this season.
Ipswich Town made a number of new additions in the summer transfer window. Among them was centre-back Cedric Kipre, who checked in from Stade Reims on a season-long loan.
The 29-year-old has performed well for ITFC, displacing Jacob Greaves from the starting XI and locking down a place in the side alongside Dara O’Shea. And, though only announced as a loan, TWTD has said Kipre’s deal includes a buy option.

The Ipswich Town loan man seems eager to trigger that too. Kipre has spoken highly of life in East Anglia, confirming a desire to stay permanently and make it to the Premier League. He said:
“Of course, that’s what I want, hopefully we get promoted and I can stay here, because I enjoy it very much. This is why I came here because my dream has always been to play in the Premier League. Here we’ve got a good chance to get promoted.”
Cedric Kipre going the right way about securing an Ipswich Town stay
Few saw Kipre displacing Greaves from the Ipswich Town starting XI upon arrival. Given how the latter had starred at Championship level with Hull City, it was widely expected that he and captain O’Shea would be the go-to partnership.
That was how it started, but some faltering form from Greaves opened the door. Kipre has well and truly taken that chance, and it puts him in a good spot to earn an ITFC stay.

The buy option gives the Tractor Boys a choice, so it is up to Kipre to make his signing undeniable. He could be a solid asset regardless of how this season ends, be it promotion or disappointment.
All the former West Brom and Wigan Athletic man will be focused on is keeping his place and keeping his recent standards up. If he does, it will go a long way to ensuring he’s kept around at Portman Road.
Ipswich Town’s big ambitions
Ipswich Town have made no secret of their goals for the future. They want to become an established Premier League club, and they feel they have the ingredients to do so.
Investment has been strong, and they have a fantastic boss in Kieran McKenna. With Mark Ashton overseeing things, it has been a period of prosperity in the club’s recent history.
Summer signing Darnell Furlong spoke of being persuaded to join by the “insane” ambition at Portman Road, and it seems the likes of Kipre are well and truly invested too.
Time will tell if he has a part to play in the long-term though as he stakes his claim for a permanent stay.
