Faster times are therefore expected although the athletes could also opt to slow things down to conserve their energy and not give out too much before the World Championships set to take place in Tokyo, Japan in September.

Jackson has run just two 200m races this season, winning one, the Jamaican National Championships in June, while the other was a second-place finish at the season-opening Xiamen Diamond League in April.

Meanwhile, Alfred has been in scintillating form, winning all her three 200m races this season, while she has also enjoyed a good run in 100m, losing just one of her four events over the distance, and comes into the race as hot favourite.
