Collins took to social media on Tuesday night to announce his commitment to the Crimson Tide.
It’s a homecoming for Collins. Out of Gardendale (Alabama) High School, Collins was one of the top recruits in the Yellowhammer State.
On the 247Sports Composite, Collins was rated 4-stars, the No. 5 defensive lineman, No. 6 player in Alabama and No. 42 prospect overall nationally in the Class of 2023. Collins attracted widespread interest in his original recruitment with scholarship offers from 29 schools, including Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Florida State, Georgia, LSU, Miami, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Tennessee, Texas and Texas A&M. It was a big win for Billy Napier and his staff to land Collins’ commitment in August 2022 and then his signature that December.
Collins heads to Tuscaloosa with 2 full seasons of remaining eligibility, as well as an available redshirt.
In the 2024 regular-season campaign, Collins played in 6 games. He recorded 6 total tackles, including 1 solo stop. His last appearance came on Oct. 19 in UF’s home win over Kentucky. Collins announced plans to enter the transfer portal on Dec. 3. The Gators play Tulane in the Gasparilla Bowl on Friday in Tampa.
Last season, Collins appeared in all 12 games for the Gators and earned Freshman All-SEC recognition. He recorded 23 total tackles, including 1.5 TFLs and sacks. He also logged 4 quarterback hurries, 1 pass breakup and 1 forced fumble.
