Crystal Palace ready to offload Jesurun Rak-Sakyi in January

Oliver Glasner’s Crystal Palace are ready to sanction the departure of Jesurun Rak-Sakyi when the transfer window reopens.

Jesurun Rak-Sakyi was expected to be on the move in the recently concluded transfer window. While multiple clubs knocked on Crystal Palace’s door for the young winger, they failed to strike a deal with Oliver Glasner’s team.

While he has ended up staying at the club, the 22-year-old might not have a prominent role, and they could look to offload him in the winter. According to Pete O’Rourke via Football Insider, the Eagles will be more than willing to listen to offers for Rak-Sakyi when the transfer window reopens in January.

Southampton and Scottish giants Rangers were both keen on signing the Crystal Palace graduate on deadline day. While the Eagles were willing to negotiate his departure, neither club could strike a deal for him despite making late bids.

Rak-Sakyi has been a part of the Eagles’ first team since 2022, but he has yet to establish himself as a key figure. The 22-year-old was on loan at Sheffield United last season. He was involved in a total of 36 matches across competitions and contributed towards nine goals in just over 1,800 minutes of first-team action.

While he has massive potential, the English youth international is still waiting for that breakthrough season. Since he is not an important part of Glasner’s plans and only has two years left on his deal, the Eagles were ready to cash in on him.

However, things did not go according to plan for them. The 22-year-old has ended up staying at Selhurst Park, but if he does not get enough game time over the next four months, his departure in January will be a certainty.

Pete O’Rourke’s take on Rak-Sakyi’s future

While speaking about Rak-Sakyi’s future, O’Rourke said: “There was a lot of interest in Rak-Sakyi on deadline day. If he’s not figuring in Oliver Glasner’s plans between now and January, I’m sure Rangers will maybe be looking at that situation with Rak-Sakyi.

“It doesn’t look at the moment like he is going to be part of those plans, they were willing to let him go in the summer but couldn’t reach an agreement. Rangers are likely to be in the market for more attacking reinforcements.

“Russell Martin is a huge fan and tried to sign him during his time at Southampton, so that interest isn’t going to go away. He’s a huge fan of the player, and if he’s not playing between now and January, Rangers will be having a look at him again in the middle of the season.”

Rangers are one of the clubs that will certainly revive their interest in the 22-year-old if he doesn’t get enough game time over the next few months. Manager Russell Martin is a massive admirer of the young winger. He has tried to sign at previous clubs and made an attempt to add him to his squad this summer.

While his efforts once again went in vain, Martin is expected to return for him when the transfer window reopens in January. Meanwhile, the Eagles are already planning to entertain offers for the Palace graduate. As a result, there are high chances of Rak-Sakyi being on the move in the winter window.
