Commanders New Cornerback Marshon Lattimore ‘Ready!’

The Washington Commanders, currently sitting atop the NFC East at 7-2, have made a high-impact acquisition just before the trade deadline, adding cornerback Marshon Lattimore to their defense.

With a pivotal Week 10 matchup looming against the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Commanders look to reinforce their secondary as they prepare to take on a 6-2 Steelers team riding a three-game winning streak led by veteran quarterback Russell Wilson. The Commanders’ defense has been strong, allowing only an average of 183.3 passing yards per game, and Lattimore’s presence aims to add further depth to their coverage.

The trade with the New Orleans Saints, who recently dismissed head coach Dennis Allen, sent Lattimore and a 2025 fifth-round pick to Washington in exchange for third-, fourth-, and sixth-round picks in the 2025 NFL Draft. Although Lattimore has been dealing with a minor hamstring issue this season, he expressedenthusiasm for the new opportunity with a team on the rise.

“It’s a new start for me. I’m just ready to go,” Lattimore said of joining Washington.

The cornerback found out about the trade in New Orleans, quickly preparing to transition to his new team. “Everything’s been crazy. It happened fast. I was in New Orleans yesterday doing treatment, now I’m here.”

Lattimore also spoke about Washington’s promising roster, particularly rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels.

“They got a good young quarterback; they got good things going on-well, we do. Let me change how I’m talking. It’s a great situation for me to be in. I’m excited for it,” he added.

Lattimore, an Ohio State alumnus, joins a Commanders squad that includes several former Buckeyes.

“It’s always good. In New Orleans, when I first got there, that’s how it was-a lot of Ohio State players. Now, it’s the same thing here,” he shared. “We are all from the same recruiting class too, so it makes it even bigger and better.”

Lattimore’s addition not only strengthens Washington’s defense but also aligns him with familiar teammates, contributing to the chemistry of a unit looking to maintain their division lead. The Commanders’ matchup against the Steelers will provide an immediate test for Lattimore as he joins an already resilient defense, aiming to shut down Pittsburgh’s offense and continue Washington’s push for a postseason run.
