2025 Georgia at Georgia Tech football game moved to Black Friday

The Georgia Bulldogs and Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets will meet again on Black Friday for the second year in a row, as announced during the ACC football schedule release show on Monday evening.

Georgia will travel to face Georgia Tech on Friday, Nov. 28, 2025. The game will take place at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Ga., instead of Tech’s home venue, Bobby Dodd Stadium, as announced last fall.

“We’re thankful to our partners at AMB Sports and Entertainment for the chance to bring Clean, Old-Fashioned Hate to Mercedes-Benz Stadium in 2025,” said Georgia Tech athletics director J Batt in October. “This opportunity to adjust our contract with AMBSE not only offers our fans a new experience in one of the world’s top stadiums, but also provides our department with significant revenue as we enter a new era of college athletics.”

In last season’s Clean, Old-Fashioned Hate, Georgia defeated Georgia Tech 44-42 in a thrilling eight-overtime game at Dooley Field at Sanford Stadium in Athens, Ga. The kickoff time and TV broadcast details will be released later this Spring, with the possibility of a primetime broadcast, as in 2024.

The Georgia Bulldogs have won seven straight games against their in-state rival and now lead the all-time series 72-39-5.

Georgia, ranked No. 5 in ESPN’s Way Too Early Top 25, is slated to begin the 2025 season against the Marshall Thundering Herd in Athens on Saturday, Aug. 30. Georgia Tech will open its season the same day on the road against Deion Sanders’ Colorado Buffaloes.

Former Bulldog Champ Bailey reflects on Georgia’s 2024-2025 season

Georgia Bulldogs defensive lineman Gabe Harris has recently undergone surgery according to UGASports. Harris posted a picture via social media with his left arm in a sling.

Harris is Georgia’s returning leader in sack production, which is a bit shocking because he recorded just two sacks in 2024. However, seven of Georgia’s eight leader sack producers from 2024 have left via the NFL draft or transfer portal.

Harris, who recorded 14 tackles in 2024, is expected to be one of Georgia’s top defensive linemen/outside linebackers in 2025. Harris played with a brace around his left shoulder for the later part of the 2024 college football season.

The 6-foot-4, 260-pound defender will likely miss time this spring. The Bulldogs need some young players to step up in their defensive line room considering all the experience and production that UGA is losing. Georgia returns just 21.6% of its sack production (eight of 37 sacks) from 2024. The Bulldogs are counting on Harris in 2025, so his recovery is one to keep an eye on.

Georgia offensive tackle Monroe Freeling and tight end Colton Heinrich also underwent surgery. It is typical for numerous UGA players to have surgery following the end of the season.

  • Carson Beck’s high school coach fires back at Georgia after Beck’s transfer

Carson Beck’s high school coach fires back at Georgia after Beck’s transfer

Carson Beck’s decision to transfer to Miami just got more interesting.

It has been quite some time since former Georgia football QB Carson Beck announced his shocking decision to transfer to Miami (FL). Okay, maybe it hasn’t even been a month yet, but in today’s day and age that is a really long time.

But everyone has had an opportunity to voice their opinions on this decision, so Beck’s transfer is officially old news. However, a new party just voiced their opinion on this subject for the first time, and that is Beck’s former high school coach Bobby Ramsay.

Ramsay could have discussed a lot of different things surrounding Beck’s decision to move on to Miami, but he instead took the time to take a shot at Georgia and the Bulldogs’ fanbase for how they handled it.

“The way it ended, it seemed like he was scapegoated for the season they had,” Ramsay said via 247sports.com. “They don’t get back in the Alabama game if he doesn’t throw them back into it. They don’t beat Tennessee if he doesn’t play the way he played. … The drops this year weren’t just drops; they were brutal drops. I’m talking 40 yards down the field, game-changing plays, dropped. The Georgia WRs didn’t give him a lot of help. When you’re dropping balls that flip the field, take points off the board, change the momentum of a game, that’s hard to overcome, especially with the schedule they played.”

“He’s coming in with a chip on his shoulder,” Ramsey continued. “He’s taking notes. He’s keeping receipts. He’s coming in highly motivated because his goals for this year were to win a national title and win the Heisman, and he didn’t accomplish that. His goals have not changed.”

Beck’s former coach does make a couple good points. While Beck didn’t have the season anyone (including Beck) hoped for, he still deserves a lot of credit for the wins and success Georgia found this season. It is interesting however that Ramsay made such a point to bring this up because no Georgia fan has ever denied that Beck had great moments this seeason.

However, Beck still was not very good for part of the season and that really hurt the Bulldogs. There were a few stretches where Beck was an interception machine and the Bulldogs honestly were pretty lucky (shoutout to the defense) that they still won these games because Beck didn’t really do much to win those games.

So Ramsay can blame the wide receivers and the difficult schedule all he wants. Everyone knows that Beck wasn’t at his best this season and when the season was over Beck shut himself out from the entire team. That is not what a leader should have done and that is why Beck has received so much backlash from this decision.

  • Kirby Smart Urged to Turn to Steve Sarkisian After Georgia Mass Exodus Draws Rising Concerns

Kirby Smart Urged to Turn to Steve Sarkisian After Georgia Mass Exodus Draws Rising Concerns

It’s not a secret that Kirby Smart and Georgia Bulldogs had a lackluster season. However, still many would argue that it’s simply not true, and Georgia did well with their standards.

But it’s not the Georgia team that won the national championship 3 years ago and had almost 15 players selected in the NFL draft. And we can argue all day whether Kirby Smart is doing well. There’s one area we all will agree he has been a bit clumsy. So what’s that exactly?

    Watch What’s Trending Now!

Well, the Bulldogs, like other teams, are preparing for the postseason antics. That will see players being retained, the transfer portal being overused, and coaches getting on that recruitment bandwagon. But it seems Kirby Smart has failed to capitalize on one crucial aspect of it. And, i.e. keeping his best players around.

If Branden Gall of 440 Sports is to be believed, Georgia Bulldogs is doing just that. “You supplement through the portal, and then you pay your veterans to stick around, and I think that’s what Texas is going to try to do this year.

Georgia decided not to with Carson Beck. They said no, we’re not going to pay that guy to stay around. That’s a choice, so um, we’ll see“. For context the senior QB Carson Beck, who was around for 4 years with Georgia and had been the starter for the past 2 seasons. He recently decided to transfer to the Miami Hurricanes. So, will his departure change anything?

Carson Beck had left with an average season on his back. His stats may look decent, with 64% pass completions and 3,485 yards gained in total. But we can’t forget his iffy form throughout the season. Interceptions, bad plays- however, it didn’t help Beck that the WR room was not as talented as some other programs.

Carson still had one year on cards to play at the college level before going into the draft. But why did Georgia gamble on not retaining him?

The answer may not be as straightforward as it may look. On the surface, it will look like Georgia has another potentially good quarterback in Gunner Stockton, who is a sophomore, and because of that, maybe Georgia will cope. But that’s still a gamble, and it’s a big one.

Because, for one, we still haven’t seen the best of Stockton yet. Yes, he did have some good performances against the likes of Notre Dame and Texas Longhorns, but the boy still needs a lot to prove. And that’s putting a bit much pressure on a Quarterback who hasn’t been a regular till now. Well, who knows, he may well prove all of us wrong.

Moving on, on the other front, it seems Texas Longhorns coach Steve Sarkisian is playing his cards right at the moment, and Kirby could benefit from a bit of inspiration.

For starters, Texas had a very good season this year, even in the Buckeyes playoff game where they lost, they fought back as hard as they could. Furthermore, post-season, their retentions and transfers are well thought out. Arch Manning, the well-touted playcalling prodigy, has been retained by the Longhorns. And, with the potential departure of Quinn Evers for the NFL Draft, it is very well expected that Manning will be having the reins now.

What do transfer and recruitment for Longhorns and Bulldogs look like?

It seems Steve Sarkisian is having a busy postseason. It is widely reported that the Bulldogs head coach is gearing up for elite recruitment for the 2026 class. Amongst the potential prospects is the runningback KJ Edwards, who is ranked 3rd ranked player in Texas by On3. But how are things looking at Kirby Smart’s camp?

Well, Kirby Smart is in a bit of a self-created conundrum right now with players leaving his camp left, right, and centre.

For context, almost 36 players in Georgia have entered the transfer portal since last December, with major names like Rara Thomas (WR) and Michael Jackson III (WR). With several key players leaving, it will seem very logical that Kirby Smart should plan for the reinforcements as soon as possible.

Former Bulldog Champ Bailey reflects on Georgia’s 2024-2025 season

The Georgia Bulldogs have offered a scholarship to five-star Texas Longhorns quarterback commitment Dia Bell.

The 6-foot-3, 190-pound quarterback plays high school football for American Heritage in Plantation, Florida. Bell is ranked as the No. 13 recruit in the class of 2026 and is the top ranked recruit in Florida, per On3. Bell is the fourth-ranked quarterback in the 2026 recruiting cycle. Dia Bell is the son of former 12-year NBA player Raja Bell.

Head coach Kirby Smart and Georgia have been heavily recruiting five-star quarterback Jared Curtis, who was previously committed to Georgia. However, UGA is not going to count on Curtis committing to UGA, so the Bulldogs are still looking to land an elite quarterback in the class of 2026.

Bell has been committed to the Texas Longhorns since June 2024. Georgia is trying to flip Bell. Kirby Smart, offensive coordinator Mike Bobo and wide receivers coach James Coley are the main ones recruiting the five-star quarterback.

Georgia recently landed a pair of five-star recruits from American Heritage in Marvin Jones Jr., who is now with Oklahoma, and Tyson Campbell, who plays in the NFL for the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Kirby Smart’s end of the year Coaches Poll ballot

Georgia Bulldogs football coach Kirby Smart ranked his team No. 4 in the final US LBM Coaches Poll, placing them ahead of two College Football Playoff semifinalists. According to ballots released by USA TODAY Sports, Smart ranked Georgia above No. 5 Texas and No. 6 Penn State.

Smart’s final poll differs from other coaches. In the final poll, Texas landed at No. 3 and Penn State finished at No. 5.

The Bulldogs defeated Texas twice this season, including a victory in the SEC championship game in December. During the postgame trophy ceremony, Smart highlighted the challenges of Georgia’s demanding SEC schedule, which featured road games at Alabama, Texas, and Ole Miss.

Texas fell to Ohio State in the CFP semifinals, 28-14, while Penn State was edged out by Notre Dame, 27-24, in the other semifinal matchup.

Among SEC coaches, Missouri’s Eli Drinkwitz and Alabama’s Kalen DeBoerplaced Georgia at No. 5, Texas A&M’s Mike Elko, Vanderbilt’s Clark Lea and Kentucky’s Mark Stoops ranked UGA at No. 6. Georgia Tech’s Brent Key ranked Georgia at No. 5.

Georgia Bulldogs quarterback Gunner Stockton (14) looks on against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish during the second half at Caesars Superdome.

The Georgia Bulldogs enter the 2025 season having to replace two-year starter and now Miami QB, Carson Beck. Here’s a look at the depth chart at Quarterback.

The Georgia Bulldogs enter the 2025 season having to replace two year starter, Carson Beck at the quarterback position. With Gunner Stockton having replaced Beck during the SEC Championship Game against Texas and earning his first career start against Notre Dame in the Sugar Bowl, Stockton is the presumed starter entering the 2025 season. Here’s how the depth chart stacks up at QB.

Georgia Football Depth Chart – QB Room

Now, there’s no 100% guarantee that Stockton is the guy moving forward, considering Kirby Smart’s history of embarrassing open competitions. Stockton will have to earn the starting job this spring and fall camp, however, he’s earned a sizeable lead entering the offseason over redshirt freshman Ryan Puglisi.

Stockton has waited his turn behind both Carson Beck and Brock Vandagriff and showed elite ball placement and downfield accuracy against Notre Dame in his first career start. The offense is expected to look slightly different with a full offseason to mold the offense to Stockton’s skill sets.

At 6’3, 210 pounds on an extremely athletic and powerful frame, Puglisi is arguably the most talented of all the quarterbacks in the room. He has an extremely talented arm that can make all of the throws.

However, there’s going to need to be continued growth within the system and maturation in the decision making department as a quarterback. Sources insider the Georgia program have indicated the future is bright for Puglisi once experience is added to the plethora of talented traits he possesses.

The PWO from Perry, Ga is listed at 6’3, 203 and he turned down mid major opportunities to walk on at Georgia. He’s another one of these young signal-callers that is just as physically gifted as any thrower.

    – Ryan Montgomery, QB: Montgomery suffered a knee injury at the beginning of his senior year, undergoing surgery.

    – Hezekiah Millender, QB: A PWO from Athens Clarke County, Millender was formerly committed to Boise State.

Former Bulldog Champ Bailey reflects on Georgia’s 2024-2025 season

Georgia Bulldogs junior punter Noah Jones is transferring to the Samford Bulldogs. Jones announced his decision to commit to Samford via social media.

Jones thanked the coaches at Samford for the opportunity before announcing his commitment to the Bulldogs.

Jones entered the transfer portal shortly after Georgia starting punter Brett Thorson said he’d be back for the 2025 college football season. Jones thanked his Georgia coaches before entering the transfer portal.

“Thank you Coach Smart, Coach Cochran, Coach King, Coach Ray, Coach Benidict and the University of Georgia for the past four years and the opportunity I was given!! With that being said, I am entering the transfer portal with one year of eligibility remaining!” said Jones via social media.

Jones enrolled at Georgia in 2021. He participated in Georgia’s G-Day spring scrimmage multiple times but never saw regular-season game action. His top opportunity to play came in the Sugar Bowl. UGA punter Brett Thorson suffered a significant knee injury in the SEC championship game, so Georgia had a competition at punter.

However, Jones lost the punter competition to freshman Drew Miller, who punted four times in the Sugar Bowl for 159 yards (39.8 yards per punt). Both Miller and Thorson return in 2025, so UGA is set at punter.

  • Georgia suffers significant setbacks after NFL draft declarations.

Georgia suffers significant setbacks after NFL draft declarations.

Blake Brockermeyer, CBS Sports’ college football writer, listed Georgia as one of the biggest losers of declaration day, where players announce their decision for the 2025 NFL Draft.

“Georgia’s loaded roster faces another round of significant departures. On defense, the Bulldogs are losing projected first-round picks Malaki Starks, Mykel Williams, and Jalon Walker, along with lineman Tyrion Ingram-Dawkins,” said Brockermeyer.

The team has lost over 70% of its sack production this offseason.

“Offensively, Georgia will be without interior linemen Tate Ratledge, Jared Wilson, and Dylan Fairchild, plus wide receiver Arian Smith and running back Trevor Etienne,” Brockermeyer added. “Quarterback Carson Beck chose to play his final college season at Miami.”

Georgia’s offense wasn’t exceptional in 2024, but it’s difficult to picture the Bulldogs improving after losing so much top-tier talent this offseason.

“However, there is some good news for Georgia. Defensive lineman Christen Miller, wide receiver Dillon Bell, tight end Oscar Delp, and cornerback Daylen Everette are all expected to return. The Bulldogs will always have talent, but this offseason marks the biggest overhaul since before Kirby Smart began winning national championships,” said Brockermeyer.

Georgia is losing a significant number of key starters to the draft, whether due to highly regarded underclassmen, seniors with expired eligibility, or surprising announcements. Additionally, the Bulldogs are experiencing a considerable exodus through the transfer portal, with Carson Beck, Julian Humphrey, Damon Wilson II, and Anthony Evans III among the prominent departures.
