.Speaking to Sky Sports, the England international shared his admiration for the way both players have slotted into Mikel Arteta’s system, helping maintain Arsenal’s strong start to the season.
Gyökeres, who arrived at the Emirates this summer after a prolific spell in Portugal, has quickly become a focal point of Arsenal’s attack. Known for his strength, tireless pressing, and direct runs in behind, the 26-year-old offers something different from the forwards Arteta has relied on in recent seasons. Saka, who has built excellent chemistry with multiple attacking partners, admitted that it’s been a process for the team to fully adjust to Gyökeres’ unique profile — but he’s been impressed by the forward’s rapid progress.
“Viktor is playing really well,” Saka said. “He has settled in well with the group. Last season, we didn’t play with a striker like him. Kai (Havertz) is a different player from him. It’s about us having to adapt to his game a bit and create a few more chances. He’s getting more and more settled each game.”
Saka’s comments capture what many Arsenal fans have noticed: Gyökeres gives the Gunners a new attacking dimension. Unlike Havertz or Gabriel Jesus, who often drift deeper to link play, Gyökeres thrives on early service and aggressive movement into the box. His physical presence and ability to pin defenders have already opened up new attacking patterns for Arsenal’s wingers, including Saka himself.
Under Arteta, Arsenal have become renowned for their fluid, possession-heavy football. But integrating a more traditional, high-intensity striker like Gyökeres requires subtle tactical adjustments — particularly from creative outlets like Saka, Martin Ødegaard, and Gabriel Martinelli. Saka’s acknowledgment of the adaptation process reflects the squad’s awareness that maximizing Gyökeres’ potential could be key to sustaining their title challenge across multiple competitions.
While Gyökeres has drawn much of the attention, Saka also took time to praise Eberechi Eze, who joined Arsenal from Crystal Palace last summer. The silky playmaker has brought flair, creativity, and composure to Arteta’s midfield, providing a fresh spark alongside Ødegaard and Declan Rice.
“He’s fitted in like a glove,” Saka said of Eze. “He’s happy, he’s playing, and he’s playing very well. I’m happy to have him at Arsenal. He is a player who wants to be here and loves the club. He’s going to give everything for this club, and that is what you need.”
Eze’s arrival has added a new layer of unpredictability to Arsenal’s attack. His ability to glide past defenders, pick incisive passes, and score from distance has made him a fan favourite at the Emirates in a short time. Together with Saka, Ødegaard, and Gyökeres, he’s helping to form one of the most exciting attacking units in English football.
For Saka, both signings represent Arsenal’s ambition to keep evolving. Gyökeres brings power and end-product, while Eze injects flair and invention. As the young winger put it, the key now is for the team to continue adapting and finding chemistry — something that could make Arsenal even more formidable as the season unfolds.
At just 23, Saka’s leadership and maturity shine through in moments like this. His praise for teammates old and new shows not only his humility but also his understanding of what it takes to build a championship-winning side: unity, adaptation, and a shared hunger for success.
