The Germany international became a free agent after leaving Bayern at the end of last season, bringing an eight-year spell with the Bundesliga giants to an end. During his time in Munich, Goretzka established himself as an important figure in one of Europe’s most successful teams.
The 31-year-old made 312 appearances for Bayern in all competitions, scoring 51 goals and providing 53 assists. His experience at the highest level makes him an attractive option for Unai Emery as Villa continue to strengthen their squad.
According to reports, negotiations between Villa and Goretzka’s representatives have progressed well and are now at an advanced stage. A move would reportedly be completed on a free transfer, making the deal particularly appealing from a financial perspective.
