According to the investigation, the school bus driver dozed off before the collision.

(WALA/Gray News) MOBILE, AL A crash report states that a school bus driver dozed off while operating the vehicle.

According to the report, 47-year-old Angela Lane Weaver overcorrected after falling asleep and running off the road on February 12.

After that, the bus veered off the road, collided with a tree and a ditch, and finally overturned on Mason Ferry Road in Mobile, Alabama.

There were fourteen pupils on the bus. According to the report, seven people were hurt in the collision.

According to Tiffany Blankenchip, whose daughter was on the bus when the collision occurred, she has previously expressed worry about Weaver’s driving.

Blankenchip remarked, “My daughter has told me numerous times about the various problems the bus driver had.”

Although I don’t think the bus driver would purposefully harm someone, I do think it’s careless.

Photos showed Weaver reportedly operating a school bus on February 21, nine days after the collision, were sent to WALA by a parent.

According to the information we received at the time, the driver was put on administrative leave right away following the collision.

For a moment, she went back to work. After that, we learned more, so she was put back on administrative leave, where she is still now.

The school district said in a statement, “Now that ALEA has completed its report, that report will be part of our ongoing investigation as we determine further disciplinary action.”

Weaver had also received three speeding fines in the previous four years, according to WALA, for exceeding the speed limit by more than 19 miles per hour.

Additionally, Weaver acknowledged dozing off while driving in 2021 in a prior crash report.
