Nottingham Forest Show Interest in Liam Delap

Nottingham Forest have reportedly joined the race for Chelsea striker Liam Delap, as manager Oliver Glasner continues to strengthen his attacking options ahead of the new Premier League season.

The 23-year-old forward has found it difficult to establish himself at Stamford Bridge since completing a reported £30 million move from Ipswich Town last summer. Despite a challenging campaign in London, Delap remains highly regarded because of his physical strength, movement and previous record in the Premier League.

Delap made a name for himself at Ipswich, scoring 12 Premier League goals during the 2024/25 campaign and earning a move to Chelsea. His first season with the Blues, however, produced a much lower return, with reports putting his tally at just two or three goals across the campaign.

Forest are believed to be considering Delap as they look to add another centre-forward to Glasner’s squad. The club’s interest is not new, with Forest having previously been linked with the striker before his move to Chelsea.

Chelsea’s asking price could prove to be the biggest obstacle. Recent reports have suggested that the London club could demand between £40 million and £50 million for Delap, despite his disappointing first season at Stamford Bridge.

Nottingham Forest would also face competition, with Everton and other clubs reportedly monitoring the England Under-21 international. No concrete Premier League offer has been confirmed, meaning Forest’s interest remains at the monitoring and negotiation stage.

For Forest, Delap could represent a calculated gamble. His Chelsea spell has raised questions, but his previous performances at Ipswich demonstrated that he can be an effective Premier League striker when placed in a system that suits his direct and aggressive style.

The coming weeks could therefore be decisive. If Forest can negotiate a deal below Chelsea’s reported valuation, Delap could become one of the club’s most intriguing attacking additions of the summer.

At this stage, Liam Delap remains a Nottingham Forest target rather than a confirmed signing.
