American sprint star Sha’Carri Richardson is poised to make her long-awaited return to the women’s 100 metres at the USATF LA Grand Prix this weekend, with fans around the world eager to see one of track and field’s biggest names back in her signature event.

According to the official entry lists, Richardson is scheduled to line up in the women’s 100m on Sunday at the LA Grand Prix, which will be broadcast live on NBC and Peacock. The race would mark her first appearance in the 100m since the 2025 World Championships, where she finished fifth in the final.

The 2023 world champion and 2024 Olympic silver medallist remains one of the most recognizable figures in athletics. Known for her explosive starts, vibrant personality, and ability to deliver on the biggest stages, Richardson’s return adds another layer of excitement to an already star-studded meeting in Los Angeles.

So far in 2026, Richardson has focused primarily on the 200m, competing in two Diamond League meetings in China earlier in the season. She also participated in relay and exhibition sprint events during the spring, but the LA Grand Prix will provide the clearest indication yet of where she stands in the women’s 100m as the outdoor season gathers momentum.

The women’s 100m field is expected to be highly competitive. Fellow Americans Cambrea Sturgis, Kayla White, Tamari Davis, and Jenna Prandini are among the athletes entered, ensuring Richardson will face a strong challenge in her comeback race. Sturgis, in particular, arrives in impressive form after clocking a personal-best 10.92 seconds earlier this year.

The LA Grand Prix itself has attracted a remarkable collection of Olympic and world champions. Fans can also look forward to seeing Olympic gold medallists Masai Russell, Tara Davis-Woodhall, Letsile Tebogo, and Cole Hocker in action. The meeting is part of the USATF Tour and serves as an important stop on the road toward the U.S. Outdoor Championships later this summer.

One of the most intriguing storylines will be whether Richardson can immediately challenge the fastest times of the season. Her personal best of 10.65 seconds, set while winning the world title in Budapest in 2023, remains one of the quickest performances in women’s sprinting history and a reminder of the level she can reach when fully fit.

For fans, Richardson’s return is about more than just times and results. She has become one of the faces of modern athletics, drawing attention to the sport through her charisma and fearless racing style. Every appearance brings anticipation, and Sunday’s race in Los Angeles is expected to be one of the highlights of the track and field weekend.

The USATF LA Grand Prix will be held at Allyson Felix Field at the University of Southern California, with live television coverage on NBC and streaming available through Peacock. Track enthusiasts will be watching closely as Richardson takes her first 100m steps of the season and begins another chapter in her sprinting journey.
