BCFC – Birmingham City’s Lyndon Dykes celebrates scoring their first goal
.
Birmingham City are ready to offload Lyndon Dykes in January, and Blues could even sign a direct replacement for the Scot, reports Alex Dicken.
Lyndon Dykes is at the centre of a transfer battle right now. Recent reports have revealed how Leicester City, Ipswich Town and Charlton Athletic are all interested in signing Dykes during the January window, with the Scot struggling for game time at St Andrew’s.
He’s featured 21 times in the Championship this season and has three goals to his name. But Dykes has only started three times for Chris Davies’ side in the league.
Dykes joined Birmingham City from QPR during the 2024/25 season and he’s so far scored just three goals in 46 league games for the club. The 30-year-old is hoping to keep himself in international contention with Scotland for this summer’s World Cup.
Birmingham City’s plan to offload Lyndon Dykes
Perhaps unsurprisingly, journalist Alex Dicken has written for Leicestershire Live that Birmingham City are ready to let Dykes go during the January transfer window, with Dykes himself frustrated at his current situation under Davies has panned out.
Interestingly, from a Birmingham City perspective, Dicken adds that ‘offloading Dykes would allow Blues to sign a new forward who could challenge for a starting berth’, despite Davies already having a large attacking department at his club.

There have been rumours on social media that Charlton Athletic are poised to win the race for Dykes, although these rumours are yet to be confirmed.
Lyndon Dykes’ Championship record
Dykes first arrived in English football when QPR signed him from Livingston in 2020. He started well for the R’s, netting 12 goals in 42 Championship games in his first season, with eight in 33 the following year. Dykes also became a key player on the international stage with Scotland.
His 10 goals in 48 caps has made him a bit of a cult hero among Scots. But Dykes’ form for club and country has tailed off in the last couple of years, with QPR offloading the striker after a record of six goals in 41 league games in the 2023/24 campaign.
He’s obviously struggled for goals at Birmingham City. But at 30 years old, he’s arguably in his prime years ad with a World Cup to play towards, Dykes will surely be hugely motivated to join a new club in January and score some goals.
