Sheffield Wednesday suffered a sixth defeat in their last seven Championship matches on Saturday afternoon, losing 3-1 to Ipswich Town at Portman Road.

Goals either side of half-time from Cédric Kipré and Jaden Philogene put the promotion-chasing Tractor Boys in charge and well on their way to all three points, but Liam Cooper pulled a goal back for Wednesday with just under 20 minutes of normal time remaining to give the Owls a ray of hope.

However, Ipswich sealed the points when Jack Clarke, fresh off the bench, poked home a third from inside the six-yard box.

Here is how we rated Wednesday’s players at Portman Road:

Was not called into action until the 28th minute, but he made a strong save when he needed to, getting down well to keep out Jens Cajuste’s low effort from a tight angle. Added other saves to his collection after the break, including a stunning stop at the end, keeping the scoreline down. Couldn’t do anything about the goals.

Tasked with keeping an eye on the dangerous Philogene, Palmer did get opportunities to get into forward areas from right-wing back. Latched onto a lovely pass from Barry Bannan, who showed excellent vision to find him, but he passed the ball out play when he had better options. Caught high up the field for Ipswich’s third goal.
