Leicester City warned by Lee Hendrie that they are likely to receive bids for ‘real big player’

Former Aston Villa midfielder and football pundit Lee Hendrie has issued a stark warning to Leicester City, suggesting that the Foxes may soon face strong interest in one of their most influential stars. Speaking during a Sky Sports segment, Hendrie praised Leicester’s recent performances but cautioned that their success could come at a cost, with bigger Premier League sides and even European clubs circling for what he described as a “real big player.”

Hendrie did not mention a specific name outright, but it is widely believed he was referring to Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, the dynamic midfielder who has been one of Leicester’s standout performers since their return to the Premier League. Dewsbury-Hall, 25, has been a driving force in the Foxes’ midfield, combining technical quality with relentless energy and leadership on the pitch. His passing range, ability to dictate tempo, and eye for goal have made him a complete package — the type of player top-six clubs crave.

Leicester City, under manager Steve Cooper, have started the season brightly, playing attractive football and securing results that have surprised many who doubted their ability to adapt after promotion. Dewsbury-Hall has been central to this resurgence, and Hendrie believes that his performances will inevitably attract suitors in January and next summer.

“Every time I watch him play, he just looks a level above,” Hendrie said during his analysis. “Leicester fans will hate me for saying this, but when a player is performing like that week in, week out, the big clubs notice. They will be getting phone calls and bids — it’s just a matter of when, not if.”

This warning comes as Leicester look to solidify their place in the top half of the table. Having lost big players in the past — such as Riyad Mahrez, Harry Maguire, and Ben Chilwell — the Foxes know all too well what it feels like to see stars poached by wealthier clubs. The key challenge for Leicester’s hierarchy will be whether they can hold firm and convince Dewsbury-Hall that his future lies at the King Power Stadium.

Leicester’s recruitment model has always been about selling at the right price and reinvesting smartly, but supporters will hope this cycle does not repeat too soon. Dewsbury-Hall is not just a talented player but also a local lad and academy graduate, which gives him special significance to the fans. His departure could have a similar emotional impact as when Jamie Vardy eventually calls time on his Leicester career.

Hendrie’s comments may serve as both a compliment and a cautionary tale. On one hand, they underline just how good Leicester’s key players are and how well the team has adapted to life back in the top flight. On the other, they highlight the ongoing challenge smaller clubs face in keeping their best talent when the financial muscle of the Premier League’s elite comes calling.

For now, Leicester fans will be hoping Dewsbury-Hall and other key men stay focused on the task at hand. But come the next transfer window, Hendrie’s prediction may be put to the test — and Leicester could find themselves in a battle to keep hold of their prized asset.
