New Crystal Palace signing Christantus Uche has said goodbye to Getafe, by admitting that he knows he underperformed at the Spanish club.
Mundo Deportivo cover the situation today after Uche completed a move to Crystal Palace on deadline day of the summer transfer window.
The midfielder has been linked with a move away from Getafe all summer, with it initially appearing that he would be joining Wolverhampton Wanderers.
It led to plenty of drama around the club, with fans unhappy with their summer business after they were forced to sell off players this summer to satisfy their financial problems.
Uche is one of those who have departed, joining Crystal Palace on loan until the end of the season, when the deal will be made permanent for âŹ17.5m.
Thatâs secured the Spanish side a tidy profit on a player who cost them âŹ3m just a year ago and managed five goals and eight assists in 41 games for the club last season.
Those are decent numbers by most peopleâs reckoning but the new Crystal Palace man believed he underperformed during his solitary year with the club.
âWhen I arrived at Getafe, I was full of ambition, dreams, and the desire to make my mark,â he said on a post on social media.
âI know I didnât live up to expectations, but football and life are much more than numbers or moments on the pitch. During my time here, I have grown, I have learned, and, above all, I have discovered the true meaning of family. Thatâs what Getafe has given me.
âIâm leaving with a bittersweet feeling, but also with pride, knowing that I gave everything and never stopped trying. Now itâs time to start a new chapter, but I wonât forget where Iâve been. I will always be a fan of this club. Thank you, Getafe, from the bottom of my heart.â
