GB & NI TEAM SELECTED FOR THE WORLD ATHLETICS RELAYS 2025

UK Athletics has announced the Great Britain and Northern Ireland team for the World Athletics Relays, Guangzhou, China (10-11 May).

With the start of a new Olympic cycle heading towards LA 2028, UKA has selected squads across all relay events with the overall objective of qualifying for the World Championships in Tokyo later this year.

This competition also allows developing athletes to integrate with our senior squads and gain valuable experience in a global senior competition with a view to maintaining the form that saw the programme win medals in every relay event at the Olympics, GB & NI being the only nation to achieve a clean sweep.

This is the seventh edition of the World Athletics Relays, with nations competing in the men’s and women’s 4x100m, 4x400m, mixed relay 4x400m and a new discipline of a mixed 4x100m event.

Darren Campbell, Head of Sprints, Hurdles and Relays at UK Athletics said:

“After our brilliant achievement in Paris at the Olympic Games, I am excited for the continued success and development of the Great Britain and Northern Ireland relay teams at this Championship.

“It is great to see a team combining World and Olympic medallists alongside several developing athletes to strengthen the depth of relay runners across the GB&NI team.

“I am looking forward to the squad developing their relay skills whilst performing their very best on the world stage and looking to secure a qualification spot for the Tokyo World Championships later this year.”
