George Edmundson’s proposal from Middlesbrough is rejected by Ipswich Town.

The Ipswich Star and EADT understand that Ipswich Town has turned down Middlesbrough’s £350,000 offer to extend George Edmundson’s loan agreement.

The 27-year-old center-back, who has made 20 appearances and scored one goal in the first half of the season, is scheduled to have his contract with Ipswich expire at the end of this year.

When Edmundson becomes a free agent in the summer, he will have plenty of second-tier admirers, and Boro manager Michael Carrick is eager to be ahead of the competition.

It is acknowledged that if Ipswich’s appraisal of the player is satisfied, they would be amenable to a sale this month.

Edmundson could only play for Ipswich and Middlesbrough this season after making an appearance as a late substitute in a Man City game early in the season.

In 2021, Paul Cook paid £750k to Rangers to sign Edmundson. As the Blues earned consecutive promotions from League One into the Premier League, he went on to make 75 appearances.
