Week 10 looks like a boom week for Jameson Williams in fantasy

As could have been expected coming into the season, Detroit Lions wide receiver Jameson Williams has been somewhat boom-or-bust in fantasy football thus far. In 0.5-point PPR scoring, he has scored 21.9, 11.9, 0.70, 15, 16.20 and 0.10 fantasy points in the six games he has played.

Williams has more than 75 yards in four games, and more than 15 fantasy points (as shown) four times. He had 20 targets over Week 1 and Week 2, with some correction lately (10 targets over his last four games).

Williams has of course missed the last two games due to a performance-enhancing substance suspension. He was back in the fold seamlessly this week, and head coach Dan Campbell said he’s “ready to roll”.

Williams actually didn’t miss as much practice time as he ordinarily would have due to his suspension. He did not drop his possible appeal until Thursday before Week 8, so he only missed one full week of practice. He should be ready to roll for Week 10 against the Houston Texans, with no real limitations on his snap count.

Entering Week 10, the Texans have allowed the sixth-most fantasy points to wide receivers (30.1 per game, Yahoo! scoring-0.5-point PPR). As noted by FanDuel, they allowed the highest percentage of deep passing plays and second-highest average depth of target.

Lions-Texans has one of the highest over-unders on the Week 10 NFL slate (48.5 points on FanDuel sportsbook, odds subject to change). That adds a layer to the idea Williams could have a big night, with his three touchdowns this season coming from 52, 70 and 37 yards out.

In his bold fantasy predictions for Week 10, Mike Fanelli of Rotoballer included Williams with a punch line to open the case.

“Massive” is a vague way to define the bold prediction, but we know what it means in regard to Williams. Maybe not a lot of targets, but some big plays and quite possibly a touchdown or two. It’s also fair to say the Lions want to find a way to feature him some in his first game back from suspension.

It’s a weekly challenge for Williams’ fantasy managers to know when to start him, and there’s always downside risk. But Week 10 looks like a week to get him in lineups, most ideally as a flex in traditional formats as well as in DFS ($6,300 salary on FanDuel).
