Wisconsin Football Safety Braedyn Moore Enters the Transfer Portal

The Wisconsin Badgers football team has officially lost its highest-rated member of their 2023 recruiting class to the transfer portal.

Matt Zenitz reported that redshirt freshman safety Braedyn Moore intends to transfer when the window opens on Dec. 9 and will have three years of eligibility remaining.

The Ohio native was part of the Badgers 2023 recruiting class that brought in six defensive backs. With Moore leaving, all six have either transferred or entered the transfer portal this offseason, including Amare Snowden, Jonas Duclona, Jace Arnold, Justin Taylor, and AJ Tisdell.

Despite showing flashes during the offseason, Moore found himself buried on a top-heavy depth chart behind returning starters Hunter Wohler and Preston Zachman, along with defensive back Austin Brown.

During his career at Wisconsin, Moore appeared in 10 games, recorded two assisted tackles, had a fumble recovery, and earned a 71.8 PFF grade in 2024.

With Wohler and Zachman both set to depart, 2025 could have opened the door for Moore to carve out a more prominent role in Alex Grinch’s safety room. Instead, the former four-star recruit has opted to finish his career elsewhere.

Of the six defensive backs in the 2023 class, Moore arguably had the highest ceiling. Known for his athleticism and versatility, Moore stood out as a potential long-term solution at the position. Originally committed to Cincinnati, Moore followed head coach Luke Fickell to Wisconsin as part of his inaugural recruiting class.

Moore’s decision to transfer leaves the Badgers thin in the secondary heading into the offseason.
