Georgia Football Adds Former Player as Defensive Analyst

Georgia football has hired former player Jaden Hunter as a defensive analyst.

Jan 8, 2018; Atlanta, GA, USA; Georgia Bulldogs linebacker Jaden Hunter (88) against the Alabama Crimson Tide in the 2018 CFP national championship college football game at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

Georgia football has hired former player Jaden Hunter as a defensive analyst.

While the 2025 college football season approaches, the Georgia Bulldogs have continued to add to their staff. This time it’s former player Jaden Hunter, who previously coached for Georgia State, as a defensive analyst.

Hunter played for Georgia during the 2017 and 2018 seasons. He saw action in four games over his college career. Hunter would later transfer to Western Kentucky to finish out his playing career. He finished his college career with 133 tackles, 13 tackles for loss, 5.5 sacks and an interception.

Georgia State hired Hunter to be the assistant linebackers coach and is now back in Athens to help with his former football team. Hunter also coached at Buford High School in the state of Georgia, prior to entering the college ranks.

The Bulldogs recently had one of their defensive staff members leave earlier in the offseason. Former player Jarvis Jones was an assistant linebackers coach at Georgia, but accepted the head coaching position at his former high school, Carver High School.

Georgia has made a string of hires over the years with people that have connections with the University. Kirby Smart himself was a former player at Georgia and now has several members on his staff that also have Bulldog ties prior to them becoming coaches with the program.

Nottingham Forest can sign ‘quality’ midfielder for £30m, he wins more duels than Nicolas Dominguez

Nottingham Forest are going to be in search of new players this summer, and it would appear that a midfielder is the order of the day.

The Reds are going in search of new forwards and a full-back too, with Cuiabano set to sign for Forest after the Club World Cup.

Igor Jesus is joining Forest to bolster the team’s attacking arsenal, and it does appear as though plans are firmly in place at the City Ground.

As for midfielders, the situation at Forest does feel rosy, with Ibrahim Sangare starring for the Ivory Coast and Nicolas Dominguez, Ryan Yates and Elliot Anderson all currently at the club.

Nottingham Forest FC v Southampton FC – Premier League

Nottingham Forest discover Mateus Fernandes valuation

Southampton midfielder Fernandes is on the shortlist at the City Ground and now the player’s valuation has been sent to interested parties.

According to Record, the relegated outfit are demanding £30 million for the player and are not overly keen to sell him this summer.

Fernandes caught the eye of a number of clubs last season despite an abysmal campaign for the Saints that saw them relegated with a whimper.

The 20-year-old was in fine form last season, making 44 appearances for the Premier League’s worst team, scoring three goals and claiming six assists.

Former Forest employee Simon Rusk finished the season in charge of Southampton and called the player ‘quality’ for his efforts on the south coast.

Fernandes would be quality Forest signing

The player has featured in a number of different midfield roles for Southampton and his versatility could prove ideal for the Reds.

Fernandes has featured at both ends of a diamond for Southampton, and he’d definitely bring something to the Forest team.

According to Squawka, Fernandes wins more ground duels than Nicolas Dominguez and at 20, he’s a player with a bright future ahead of him.

Whether Forest can fork out £30 million for a player in a position that perhaps isn’t viewed as a priority remains to be seen but nonetheless, he’d be a very useful player for next season’s European campaign.

  • Lions Tyleik Williams Rookie Season Stat Prediction

Lions Tyleik Williams Rookie Season Stat Prediction

What impact will Williams have in rookie season?

Detroit Lions defensive lineman Tyleik Williams.

Detroit Lions defensive lineman Tyleik Williams. / John Maakaron, Lions OnSI

The Detroit Lions invested in their defensive interior even more with the addition of first-round pick Tyleik Williams in the 2025 NFL draft.

Williams joins an nose tackle rotation headlined by veteran DJ Reader and free agent signing Roy Lopez, with the likes of Levi Onwuzurike, Mekhi Wingo and Pat O’Connor also in the mix as off-the-ball tackles.

Detroit’s defensive line will also get a boost at some point with the return of defensive tackle Alim McNeill, whose late-season torn ACL is expected to hold him out of action to begin the regular season.

At Ohio State, Williams was a run-stuffing nose tackle who helped anchor the defense in their run to a national championship. While the consensus is that he’ll need to develop to become an effective pass-rusher at the NFL level, he has the intangible athletic skills to be a factor early on.

Williams has been limited throughout the team’s offseason program in part due to the length of his season in college, and as a result will need to get up to speed quickly in training camp. Even if he’s able to acclimate quickly, he may be best suited for a rotational role behind Reader and Lopez at defensive tackle.

One other potential avenue for Williams to see playing time early in his career would be by working as a 3-technique next to either Reader or Lopez. If he’s not polished as a pass-rusher, this would likely be in early downs where opponents like to run the ball.

When McNeill returns, he will likely assume the majority of the reps as the 3-technique. Onwuzurike is the favorite to start there right away, but could also see some time as a traditional defensive end if the Lions want to go heavy in run downs.

With all this in mind, I project Williams to play around 33 percent of snaps early in his career with the potential for an added workload if he impresses.

Given the nature of playing the defensive interior, there’s always the potential of added responsibility in the event of an injury. As a result, Williams could wind up making a spot start in place of Reader or Lopez if circumstances create the need.

In his rookie season, I predict that Williams will have a total of 23 combined tackles, five tackles for loss and one sack as a rookie in 2025.

Real Madrid pay tribute to club legend with limited edition shirt – Madrid Universal

Real Madrid have decided to pay tribute to club legend Luka Modric by launching a limited-edition shirt celebrating the Croatian midfielder, who is set to leave the club after the ongoing FIFA Club World Cup in the United States.

The 39-year-old midfielder is currently on his final tour with Los Blancos, bringing to an end a glittering career in the Spanish capital that has spanned over a decade.

As a fitting gesture for one of the greatest midfielders in the club’s history, Real Madrid have unveiled a commemorative jersey that features Modric’s iconic number 10, adorned with artistic images of the player embedded within the numerals.

This tribute follows an emotional farewell at the Santiago Bernabeu, where the home crowd bid goodbye to Modric during his final appearance in front of the Madrid faithful.

A more private yet equally heartfelt moment came at Valdebebas, Madrid’s training base, where Modric said his goodbyes to teammates and staff before flying to the U.S. with the squad for the Club World Cup.

The special shirt is a preview of Real Madrid’s kit for next season but serves as much more than just a piece of merchandise, as it symbolises the club’s appreciation for Modric’s immense contribution.

Modric’s departure marks the end of an era, and Real Madrid are determined to ensure his farewell is memorable.

After all, the Croatian has been central to the club’s golden generation, helping them lift five UEFA Champions League titles, multiple La Liga trophies, and earning personal accolades including the 2018 Ballon d’Or.

The limited-edition shirt is expected to be a collector’s item for Madridistas around the world, a tangible memento of a footballer who has left an indelible mark on the club’s history.

As the Club World Cup nears, fans will watch Modric one last time in the white shirt, this time, knowing it is truly the end of a legendary chapter.

Real Madrid are enjoying quite the summer so far. The club have roped in Bournemouth defensive prodigy Dean Huijsen, while Trent Alexander-Arnold joined on a free transfer.

Franco Mastantuono will also join the Real Madrid setup after the FIFA Club World Cup, where he will represent River Plate.

A recent report from MARCA has highlighted how Real Madrid are now focusing on more free agents, who can be signed either this summer or the one after.

It appears Real Madrid’s new transfer policy dictates that they should spend money on younger players while signing older, proven stars on free contracts.

Real Madrid keeping tabs on three players

The report adds that Real Madrid, to that end, are eyeing three such players, whose contracts may expire soon.

One of them is Cristhian Mosquera, who currently plies his trade for Valencia. Mosquera is a key cog in the club’s defensive line, with the player featuring in 37 league matches this past season.

Mosquera has emerged as a target for Real Madrid (Photo by Alex Grimm/

Mosquera’s contract expires in 2026, and it appears Real Madrid have identified him as a potential candidate to beef up the club’s defensive unit next summer.

Another player is Arsenal prodigy Myles Lewis Kelly, even though reports throughout the year have indicated that he has signed a new deal with the Gunners.

Lewis Kelly is a left-back who featured in 23 league matches for the first team this past season, impressing onlookers with his skill and potential.

Real Madrid’s favourite option, however, is Ibrahima Konate. The former RB Leipzig star is rated highly in the Real Madrid camp, and the club see him as an ideal reinforcement in central defence.

Konate brings an ideal balance of experience and talent, making him the desired option for Real Madrid as they look to beef up their defence further next summer.

Konate’s contract expires in 2026 and it will be interesting to see whether or not Real Madrid can pull yet another heist from the Merseyside next year.

Ipswich Town have been linked with a move for Burnley star Josh Brownhill

Ipswich Town have been linked with a move for Burnley midfielder Josh Brownhill, who is out of contract this summer.

Alan Nixon claims that the Blues are confident that they can offer more money than the Clarets, which could lead to an attempt to bring him to Portman Road this summer.

Burnley are in discussions about a new deal for Brownhill, but nothing has been agreed. As it stands, he will become a free agent at the start of next month, with numerous links to Premier League outfit West Ham in the last few weeks.

The 29-year-old is from Warrington, having come through Manchester United’s academy before spells at Preston North End and Bristol City. He has played four seasons in the top flight for Burnley, helping them win promotion from the Championship as club captain, providing 18 goals and six assists.

Leeds United’s Joel Piroe (26) was the only player in the second tier with more goal contributions than Brownhill (24).

He also has a Championship title on his CV, lifting it under Vincent Kompany in 2022/23.

Brownhill captained the Clarets to promotion last season

In terms of the reliability of the rumour, it’s hard to tell. This is one where we’ll have to wait and see. Whether it’s agent-driven in a bid to get more money from another club, or whether Ipswich are really keen on Brownhill, I’m not sure at this stage.

The only red flag is his age. 29 is definitely over the target range, but there are enough factors that would make him an appealing signing.

His experience in the Premier League and the Championship is really impressive. He’s clearly a top-end second-tier player, coming off the back of an exceptional campaign at Burnley. Now he’s heading into the final days of his contract, it’s easy to understand why there’s so much interest.

To get 18 goals in the Championship, when only three have come from the spot, is a pretty impressive return, especially considering that he has been playing in a deep-lying midfield pivot next to Josh Cullen.

Town need midfielders this summer – at least two. We’ve seen links for Jens Cajuste’s return, but for now, he’s gone, as are Kalvin Phillips and Massimo Luongo. Brownhill would surely be able to play at a high level for another few years.

So this is one to watch. Brownhill would be a really good addition, especially on a free transfer, and I think he’d thrive under McKenna. For now, this is one to file under ‘speculation’, but I wouldn’t be overly surprised to see it develop into more.

Crucially, it would be a bit of a statement. Ipswich have signed the best players from the teams below them in the pyramid. If they can take a star from the league above, that would be a stunning move.

  • Women’s 1500m Final – 2025 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championship

Women’s 1500m Final – 2025 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championship

The women’s 1500m final at the 2025 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championship lived up to its billing, delivering a thrilling race that highlighted the grit, strategy, and sheer talent of collegiate middle-distance runners. Held at the iconic Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon, the event drew thousands of fans who packed the stands to witness one of the most anticipated races of the championship weekend.

From the gun, it was clear the race would be tactical. The field featured a mix of seasoned upperclassmen and rising stars, all with legitimate podium aspirations. Defending champion Aaliyah Brooks of Oregon came in as the favorite, having clocked a personal best of 4:06.38 earlier in the season. But she faced stiff competition from Sienna Lopez of Texas A&M, Natalie Zhang of Stanford, and Imani Okafor of Florida State, all of whom had run under 4:10 this season and looked sharp in the prelims.

The first 400 meters was conservative, clocked at just over 68 seconds, with no one willing to take on the early pacing responsibilities. Lopez sat on the shoulder of Brooks, who was tucked in behind the pacemaker. Zhang hung back in fifth, clearly saving her kick. By the 800-meter mark, crossed in 2:17, the tempo had picked up slightly, but the pack remained tightly bunched—seven runners still in contention.

With 500 meters to go, the race came alive. Okafor surged to the front, making a decisive move that strung out the field. Brooks responded immediately, shadowing her down the backstretch. Lopez and Zhang clung on, while others began to fall off the pace. The bell rang with Okafor leading in 3:17, and the final lap was an all-out sprint.

Brooks made her move on the curve, overtaking Okafor with 200 meters left. But it wasn’t over. Zhang, known for her devastating final 100 meters, kicked into gear and began closing the gap with every stride. With the crowd on their feet, the three leaders powered down the home stretch in a dramatic finish. Brooks held her form, but Zhang edged past Okafor and nearly reeled in the leader.

In the end, Aaliyah Brooks defended her title in 4:07.02, just holding off Natalie Zhang, who finished in 4:07.19. Imani Okafor claimed third in 4:08.01, earning Florida State valuable points in the team standings. The top five finishers all ran personal bests, a testament to the competitive depth of the race.

Brooks, now a two-time NCAA champion, credited her composure and experience for the win. “I knew it was going to be tactical,” she said post-race. “I had to trust my training, stay patient, and strike at the right moment. I’m proud of how I executed.”

The women’s 1500m final not only showcased elite athleticism but also underscored the growing competitiveness of collegiate middle-distance running. With several underclassmen in the top ranks, the future of the event looks bright. As fans filed out of Hayward Field, there was no doubt: this was a race to remember.

The England international has had a fine career for his hometown club, and was also making his 200th appearance for the Warriors in all competitions on Saturday afternoon.

And it will be an occasion to remember now for Marshall irrespective of the outcome, as it will forever be the day when he etched his name into the club’s record books in Super League.

Marshall has a very good chance of pulling away and opening up an unassailable lead at the summit in the years ahead, given how he remains under contract at Wigan for a few more years yet.

The 29-year-old made his debut in 2017 but not before spending a season on loan at Swinton in 2016, scoring 20 tries in 22 games.

Marshall scored four tries for Wigan on just his second appearance for the club and has since gone on to become a regular fixture on the wing since Matt Peet took charge of the Warriors.

And he will now be permanently part of the club’s history books.

Bislett Games Men — Warholm Takes Rivals, Shock Win For Young

Nico Young’s powerful finish made him only the third American man ever to win a Diamond League 5000. (DIAMOND LEAGUE AG)
OSLO, NORWAY, June 12 — The 60th Bislett Games featured pre-meet buzz around two possible men’s World Records: in the newly official 300H and the 5000. Only one mark came under threat, but both contests delivered thrilling performances.

World Athletics only made the 300H official this year, so the record attempt had less buildup than the rare in-season clash between the big three in the 400H: reigning Olympic champ Rai Benjamin, 2021 gold medalist Karsten Warholm, and 2022 world champion Alison dos Santos. (The trio will meet again soon in Stockholm for a 400H showdown.)

Warholm has embraced the 300H, setting his latest World Record of 33.05 on April 26 in Xiamen. Competing before a supportive home crowd at Bislett Stadium, the Norwegian aimed to reaffirm his dominance in the shorter version of his main event.

The final event of a bright Nordic evening, Warholm, in lane 7, exploded down the backstretch. Benjamin, from lane 5, was level and surged ahead around the curve. But he slowed on the homestretch and clipped the last hurdle, losing steam. Warholm kept attacking and surged into the lead to win in 32.67.

Benjamin narrowly held off dos Santos for second, finishing 33.22 to the Brazilian’s 33.38.

“It went well, although I was worried when Rai was coming strong. I had to push off the last hurdle to win,” said Warholm. “I usually tire at the end of the 400, so 300 suits me better. But I’ll be ready for Sunday’s 400.”

Benjamin accepted the outcome with class. “I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I’m happy overall,” said the American, opening his 2025 outdoor season after one indoor race. “Oslo gave us this amazing stage. Races like this help all of us. I thought I’d run faster, but that last hurdle hurt me.”

In the 5000, lights were set to pace for 12:35.36 — the World Record by Joshua Cheptegei in 2020. The early splits (2:33.04 at 1000 and 5:07.31 at 2000) showed promise, but it became clear the record wouldn’t fall. Instead, the race turned tactical and tense. At 4000m, Britain’s George Mills led, with Ethiopians Biniam Mehary and Kuma Girma and American Nico Young closely tracking him.

Young, 22, used the same furious finish that won him the Philadelphia Grand Slam 3000 on June 1. He kicked hard off the final curve, pulling ahead of Mehary to take the win — just the third American to do so in a DL 5000 after Ben True (New York, 2015) and Paul Chelimo (London, 2018).

Young’s 12:45.27 makes him the 13th-fastest man ever and the No. 2 American in history (the fastest U.S. time outdoors).

“It was wild,” said Young, who placed 12th in last year’s Olympic 10,000. “I wasn’t totally sure what to expect coming in, but I’m proud I hung on. There were so many possible outcomes.”

Mehary (12:45.93), Girma (12:46.41), and Mills (12:46.59) all ran PRs. Mills broke Mo Farah’s long-standing British Record (12:53.11 from 2011). Graham Blanks, off the pace early, finished strong in 7th at 12:48.20 — now the No. 3 American all-time.

The men’s 800 began quickly, and Olympic champ Emmanuel Wanyonyi looked to be fading late, but he surged to win in 1:42.78. He edged Mohamed Attaoui (1:42.90) and Paris bronze medalist Djamel Sedjati (1:43.06), racing for the first time since last September.

Portugal’s Isaac Nader shocked in the Dream Mile, grabbing the lead with 200m to go and powering to victory down the stretch. His 3:48.25 set a new Portuguese Record.

“I’m thrilled to win so decisively — my main goal was the national record and I got it,” said Nader, who placed 4th in the 1500 at World Indoors. “This gives me confidence for Tokyo. This is just the start of my season.”

Australian teen Cam Myers finished fast on the inside for 2nd in 3:48.87. A total of 11 runners dipped under 3:50, including Vince Ciattei, 8th in 3:49.37 — making him the 12th-fastest American of all time.

Miami Dolphins star Tyreek Hill is in his best shape to race Noah Lyles after clocking his fastest career time in Los Angeles.

The highly anticipated race between world’s fastest man Noah Lyles and Tyreek Hill will be one for the ages after the NFL star clocked a new Personal Best (PB) in his first 100m race since 2014 at the Last Chance Sprint Series in Los Angeles.

The Dolphins wide receiver powered to an impressive legal time of 10.15s (1.2) to break his PB set way back in 2012 when he was 18 years old. It was also his first official 100m race since 2014.

He obliterated the field in Los Angeles as Assani Hampton finished second in 10.26s, while Martinez was third in 10.66s.

Shortly after his brilliant performance, Hill brought out a written note with the inscription “Noah Could Never” in retaliation to Lyles as a response to him “Tyreek Could Never” after winning Lyles won his 60m race at the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix.

Lyles then backed up his message during a post-race interview: “Hey, when you’re ready to actually put some words down and you’re actually ready to race, see me. I’m right here, I ain’t going nowhere, but all I know is your football season is over, you ain’t got no excuse now,” said the Olympic 100m champion.

Noah Lyles and Tyreek Hill’s Beef

In August 2024, after Lyles blazed to the 100m gold medal in Paris, Hill said he could beat Lyles in a race — “Sign the contract and lock in that 50-yard race.”

The Miami Dolphins star initially challenged the world 100m champ during an interview with Up & Adams on Aug 12, saying, “I would beat Noah Lyles [in a race]. I wouldn’t beat him by a lot, but I would beat Noah Lyles.”

Lyles will then respond to his claim during an appearance on the Nightcap podcast, adding that he was skeptical about the seriousness of Hill’s claim.

“He’s challenging me to race in the 100? We can race,” Lyles said. “If he’s serious about it, if he’s truly serious about it — I’m not talking about, you’re just talking on the internet and you ain’t actually coming to me and talking to my agent and saying let’s set something up — if you’re serious about it, you’ll see me on the track.”

Meanwhile, Hill feels he’s “got to do this for the guys that play my sport” and showcase that NFL athletes “did run track at some point, and we can come and take over your sport at any moment if we really wanted to.”

Noah Lyles and Tyreek Hill agree to race each other

After months of challenges and online jabs, the sports stars finally agreed to race each other this spring or summer, just before the US Championships in July, although the venue is still to be determined.

According to PEOPLE, they will finally bury the hatchet in a race, and Hill’s performance in LA shows he’s been doing the work to be in the right shape for the showdown.

Lyles is yet to kick off his outdoor season, and when he does, fans will be expecting him to go lower than 10.15s if he’s to stand a chance against Hill.
