The No. 5 Georgia Bulldogs defeated the No. 2 Texas Longhorns 22-19 in the SEC Championship Game to improve to 11-2. Georgia is set to return to the College Football Playoff after missing in 2023.
With the win over Texas on Saturday, the Bulldogs will earn a round-one bye in the CFP. The extra break will be helpful for Georgia, as quarterback Carson Beck will have extra time to heal from the upper body injury he suffered in the first half of the SEC championship.
The Bulldogs could be without one of their wide receivers for the CFP.
Per Hayes Fawcett with On3 Sports, Michael Jackson III will hit the transfer portal. He broke the news after the Bulldogs won the SEC title.
“Georgia WR Michael Jackson III plans to enter the Transfer Portal, he tells On3 Sports,” Fawcett wrote on X. “The 6’0 205 WR will have 1 year of eligibility remaining Was ranked as a 4-Star Recruit in the ‘21 Class.”
Jackson played for three seasons at USC before transferring to Georgia before the 2024 season. His best season came in 2022 when he recorded 17 receptions for 236 yards and four touchdowns in the same year his quarterback, Caleb Williams, won the Heisman Trophy.
