According to Lewis Hamilton, the day after he informed the Brackley-based Mercedes engineers that he was leaving for Ferrari, they all turned on him during a team paintballing session.

Prior to preseason testing in February 2024, the British player traded the Silver Arrows for Fred Vasseur’s team.

As Mercedes got ready for life without their top driver, this led to a protracted divorce.

Speaking about the split with TIME Magazine, Hamilton clarified that when the group went paintballing together, he was targeted in good faith. “They really lit me up,” he remarked.

“It hurt so much.” At one point, the seven-time world champion was even struck by a member of his own squad.

Hamilton still has a lot of affection for his former employers, even though 2024 has been a frustrating year for him. “There is no bad blood,” he added. Not at all. We took home numerous titles.

He also thinks they’ll soon be back in the running for the crown.

He went on to say, “They have everything they need to win world championships, and they will win more.”

“I am certain.” Hamilton has exclusively used Mercedes power units during his tenure with McLaren and the Silver Arrows.

The 40-year-old is currently going through a challenging learning curve after switching to Ferrari for 2025.

Hamilton also has little time to lose, as 2025 is predicted to be the most competitive season in Formula One in ten years.

The British driver has been working from early in the morning till late at night at the Bahrain International Circuit for preseason testing after completing a rigorous private testing program during the off-season.

Even though he recorded the quickest time of the Thursday morning session, the British athlete isn’t entirely happy with his adaptation as of yet.

He admitted on Friday, “I still feel that there’s quite a bit to come.”

According to the investigation, the school bus driver dozed off before the collision.

(WALA/Gray News) MOBILE, AL A crash report states that a school bus driver dozed off while operating the vehicle.

According to the report, 47-year-old Angela Lane Weaver overcorrected after falling asleep and running off the road on February 12.

After that, the bus veered off the road, collided with a tree and a ditch, and finally overturned on Mason Ferry Road in Mobile, Alabama.

There were fourteen pupils on the bus. According to the report, seven people were hurt in the collision.

According to Tiffany Blankenchip, whose daughter was on the bus when the collision occurred, she has previously expressed worry about Weaver’s driving.

Blankenchip remarked, “My daughter has told me numerous times about the various problems the bus driver had.”

Although I don’t think the bus driver would purposefully harm someone, I do think it’s careless.

Photos showed Weaver reportedly operating a school bus on February 21, nine days after the collision, were sent to WALA by a parent.

According to the information we received at the time, the driver was put on administrative leave right away following the collision.

For a moment, she went back to work. After that, we learned more, so she was put back on administrative leave, where she is still now.

The school district said in a statement, “Now that ALEA has completed its report, that report will be part of our ongoing investigation as we determine further disciplinary action.”

Weaver had also received three speeding fines in the previous four years, according to WALA, for exceeding the speed limit by more than 19 miles per hour.

Additionally, Weaver acknowledged dozing off while driving in 2021 in a prior crash report.

  • Alabama football’s Jalen Milroe named ‘wildcard QB’ after unusual NFL Combine

Alabama football’s Jalen Milroe named ‘wildcard QB’ after unusual NFL Combine

There’s one area of the NFL Combine that Jalen Milroe expected to dominate. Meanwhile, another Alabama Crimson Tide standout had a great interview. Also, Milroe got named as a “wildcard quarterback” after an unusual NFL Combine decision.

While Milroe is a burner, he didn’t want to show his wheels to the NFL scouts at the combine, according to nytimes.com.

“Milroe is blazing fast,” Bruce Feldman wrote. “(Watch him in 2023 against LSU to witness some spectacular acceleration). He told an NFL coaching staff in one of his meetings last week that he thinks he’d run the 40 in 4.3, but that he wasn’t going to run it in Indy. The staff was curious why Milroe wouldn’t run, because they told him, if he did run that, he’d wow scouts and might boost his stock by a round.”

What will NFL future be for Alabama football QB Jalen Milroe?

It’s not just the speed that has NFL scouts interested in Milroe. Feldman said Milroe also has a powerful arm. Also, coaches in the NFL have heard great things about his work ethic. But his consistency is a concern.

Milroe isn’t expected to go early in the draft. But he said that’s OK, according to usatoday.com.

“I’m cool with being underrated,” Milroe said. “I play in the hardest conference in the country. I played against the number one team in the country, the number one defense in the country. So, if I lack knowledge, I wouldn’t be able to win big games. And 2023, my first year starting, I didn’t lose a SEC game and was playing a lot of different defenses. A lot of things that was unraveled when it came to the game planning and a lot of things I pour into (it) that people don’t see.”

Also, Milroe has a passion for playing the game.

“I love football,” Milroe said. “I love everything about it. (And) I know where I’m at today, I’m going to be even better at this time next year. Everything I try and do is for the betterment of the team and not be one-dimensional at all when it comes to physical attributes on the football field. There’s a lot of things I can improve on, but there’s a lot of things that I can say I can definitely do. What I saw in the SEC has catapulted me to being ready to play in the NFL.”

More than 150 wildfires rage across South Carolina as state of emergency is declared

A combination of dry and gusty conditions has fuelled the blazes which are also raging across North Carolina and Georgia.

    Monday 3 March 2025 11:49, UK

A state of emergency has been declared in South Carolina as wildfires caused by dry and gusty conditions have forced people to evacuate some areas.

More than 175 fires covered 6.6 square miles in the state on Sunday as the National Weather Service warned of an increased risk of blazes in the region.

The number of fires was down to 163 by early Monday, the state’s forestry commission said.

South Carolina governor Henry McMaster declared a state of emergency on Sunday to support the wildfire response effort and a state-wide burning ban is in effect.

People in eight neighbourhoods were forced to evacuate as several fires raged in the state’s Horry County, officials said.

Soldiers used two Blackhawk helicopters to drop water 600 gallons at a time on the blazes, the South Carolina National Guard said on Sunday.

Meanwhile, firefighters made progress containing a fire in Carolina Forest, where people had been ordered to evacuate several neighbourhoods, according to Horry County Fire Rescue.

Footage showed some people running down the street as smoke filled the sky.

However, Horry County Fire Rescue announced by late Sunday that Carolina Forest evacuees could return home.

The Red Cross of South Carolina said approximately 135 Carolina Forest residents had taken shelter in a county recreation centre.

The fire in the area had burned 2.5 square miles as of Sunday evening, the South Carolina Forestry Commission estimated.

No structures had succumbed to the blaze and no injuries had been reported as of Sunday morning, officials said.

It came as fire crews were working to contain multiple wildfires burning in four forests across North Carolina.

The largest covered around 0.6 square miles and burned in Uwharrie National Forest – about 50 miles east of Charlotte.

The North Carolina Forest Service said on Sunday that it had been made progress on the fire, reaching about one-third containment.

The small southwestern town of Tryon in Polk County, North Carolina, had urged some residents to evacuate on Saturday as a fire spread rapidly there.

The evacuations remained in effect on Sunday.

A decision on whether to lift the evacuation orders was expected to be made on Monday after intentional burns are set to try to stop the fire from spreading.

That fire had burned about 0.8 square miles as of Sunday evening, with 0% containment, according to the Polk County Emergency Management and Fire Marshal’s office.

The North Carolina Forest Service was conducting water drops and back-burning operations on the ground and residents should expect a lot of smoke during those operations, officials said.

It comes as at least six active fires were burning in Georgia on Sunday, with nearly 5.8 miles burned in a seven-day span that brought the region gusty winds and low humidity, according to a Georgia Forestry Commission fire summary.

Officials have not said what caused any of the fires.

The dry and gusty conditions fuelling the fires are expected to fade as a cold front pushes out the dry air mass over the southeast of the US and brings rain by Tuesday, the National Weather Service said.

The convergence of warmth, dry air and gusty winds is not inconsistent with the season’s La Niña weather phenomenon, which is associated with warmer, drier winters in the Carolinas, according to North Carolina State University.

  • Alabama transfer takes massive parting shot at Big Ten team on his way to Tuscaloosa

Alabama transfer takes massive parting shot at Big Ten team on his way to Tuscaloosa

The transfer portal has reshaped college football in ways fans could have never imagined, and few players have embodied this new era quite like offensive tackle Kadyn Proctor. The former five-star recruit has taken a rollercoaster ride through his collegiate career, and after a short stint at Iowa, he’s heading back to Alabama with some choice words about his time in the Big Ten.

Proctor originally committed to Alabama out of high school, joining the Crimson Tide in 2023 as one of the most highly touted offensive linemen in the country. But after just one season in Tuscaloosa, he surprised many by transferring to his home-state school, Iowa. The move seemed to be driven by proximity to home and the appeal of playing for the Hawkeyes, but just a year later, he’s once again heading south—this time with a brutally honest assessment of what made him leave the Big Ten behind.

In a recent interview, Proctor didn’t hold back when explaining why he decided to leave Iowa and return to Alabama. He pointed to one glaring issue that he felt was missing from the Hawkeyes’ program.

“I never heard the words ‘national championship’ come out of their mouths,” Proctor said bluntly.

That’s a parting shot that certainy isn’t going to sit well with Iowa fans.

The Hawkeyes’ last claimed national championship was in 1960—long before the era of the College Football Playoff.

In contrast, Alabama has been synonymous with competing for championships. Even in the wake of n remains the same in Tuscaloosa: winning it all. Of course, the Crimson Tide will have quite the uphill battle in actually competing this year even in the SEC, much less for a national championship.

With Alabama entering Year 2 under Kalen DeBoer, Proctor’s return is a major boost for an offensive line that will need to protect the next quarterback to replace Jalen Milroe.

Time, Date Unveiled for Alabama’s Spring Game

The logistics for Alabama’s A-Day have been revealed for the Crimson Tide’s spring game in a release by the University of Alabama and confirmed by Alabama’s NIL collective, Yea Alabama.

It will be a high-noon showdown inside Bryant Denny Stadium on Saturday, April 12. Kickoff for A-Day is scheduled for Noon CT according to Alabama Athletics and Yea Alabama.

A-Day will serve as the 15th and final practice for Alabama as the Crimson Tide concludes its spring practice schedule, and admission is free for any Alabama fans who can make the trek to Tuscaloosa in April.

One difference in this year from years past is that there will be no live broadcast of the spring event.

It will be Kalen DeBoer’s second A-Day as the Alabama head coach. DeBoer, who was hired in January 2024 after former Alabama head coach Nick Saban retired, participated in his first A-Day in April 2024.

Last year, Alabama modified the format of the game, with new ways that the defense could score points while taking on an Alabama offense that had a lot of hype going into 2024.

Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer mentioned to Pete Nakos of On3 Sports that the Crimson Tide will tweak the format of the spring game once again in 2025 amid several other big-name programs changing or outright cancelling spring games.

  • Alabama’s Malachi Moore Would Love To Join Detroit Lions

Alabama’s Malachi Moore Would Love To Join Detroit Lions

Malachi Moore would love to reunite with Brian Branch and Terrion Arnold.

Alabama Crimson Tide defensive back Malachi Moore (13) celebrates after a play against the Auburn Tigers during the second quarter at Bryant-Denny Stadium.

Tuscaloosa, Alabama, USA; Alabama Crimson Tide defensive back Malachi Moore (13) celebrates after a play against the Auburn Tigers during the second quarter at Bryant-Denny Stadium.

If there’s one thing that can be taken away from Brad Holmes’ first four drafts as Lions general manager, it’s that he holds Alabama players in high regard.

In his time with Detroit, he has drafted several Crimson Tide products: wide receiver Jameson Williams (2022), running back Jahmyr Gibbs and defensive back Brian Branch (2023) and cornerback Terrion Arnold (2024).

And he’ll have a chance to add another Alabama player (or more) via this year’s NFL Draft, taking place from April 24 – 26 in Green Bay.

If Holmes chooses to go the defensive back route, Crimson Tide safety Malachi Moore would be a solid mid-round target.

The 6-foot, 201-pounder made quite the name for himself during his five years in Tuscaloosa. In 64 games, he logged 214 total tackles, including 15.5 for loss, 31 passes defensed, seven interceptions, three forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries.

Additionally, he was a first-team All-SEC selection in his final season with the Crimson Tide, earning an 84.9 overall grade and an 89.4 coverage mark from Pro Football Focus. He also posted a 75.5 PFF run-defense grade.

Moore’s time at Alabama overlapped with each of Holmes’ four Crimson Tide draft picks. Additionally, he has stayed in touch with both Branch and Arnold since, and has consistently sought them out for advice throughout his draft preparation.

Moore and Branch go way back, as they were part of the same recruiting class at Alabama (2020). As a result, they developed an ultra tight relationship.

“We came in together as freshmen in 2020, and we were like two peas in a pod,” Moore told reporters during his media session Thursday at the NFL combine. “We really were attached everywhere we went.”

Moore and Branch further bonded over transitioning to primary safety roles this past season.

“He got moved to safety this year also when I got moved to safety, so we would talk back-and-forth with each other on what we were seeing and how we could be instinctive and make plays,” Moore expressed.

Moore, Branch and Arnold each play a physical brand of football and share a desire to be “great.” And now they could reunite in the Lions’ defensive backfield.

Moore would love to play alongside the two Detroit defensive backs once again.

“It would be great to play with my guys, Terrion and BB (Brian Branch) on the defensive side of the ball,” Moore said. “We already have that great chemistry. We come from the same lineage in college football and playing under coach (Nick) Saban. We are like-minded. We (are) still brothers to this day, and our relationship is great.”

Moore, with over 500 career special teams snaps under his belt, profiles as a core special teams performer at the next level. And with proper development, he has the potential to become a starting-caliber NFL safety.

Per The 33rd Team’s Kyle Crabbs, the Crimson Tide product possesses fourth-round value.

Ole Miss Cornerback Trey Amos Speaks Highly of Terrion Arnold

Amos, a cornerback prospect in this year’s draft class, was teammates with Arnold at Alabama during the 2023 season. He spoke glowingly of his time playing alongside the former Crimson Tide defensive back.

“There’s only one Terrion Arnold,” Amos said at the combine Thursday, in reference to Arnold’s brazen personality. “Learned a lot (from him). Making that transition, all he did was support and just wanted to be better.”

Amos transferred to Alabama in 2024, and put together a productive campaign. He compiled 40 total tackles and permitted an opposing passer rating of 54.5 in coverage, with 10 passes defensed and three interceptions. For his efforts, he was named a first-team All-SEC selection, and earned an 85.6 PFF overall grade.

How fast did 2 Alabama tight ends run the 40-yard dash at NFL Combine?

Alabama football had a duo of tight ends going through drills at the NFL Combine on Friday. Both CJ Dippre and Robbie Ouzts were among the group in Indianapolis running the 40-yard dash.

Dippre was the fast of the two by a fair margin. He ran his first attempt in 4.74 seconds, then improved the time to 4.69.

Ouzts ran a 4.95 on first attempt. He also improved the second time around, shaving the time down to a 4.91, still slowest in the group.

Dippre’s time was good enough to finish third among tight ends, behind Terrance Ferguson from Oregon and South Carolina’s Joshua Simon. Ferguson ran a 4.63, while Simon went in 4.65.

The two Alabama tight ends split snaps for the Crimson Tide during the 2024 season. Dippre was more of a threat in the passing game than Ouzts, who is known as a fearsome blocker.

On Thursday, speaking to reporters in Indianapolis, the two tight ends, who roomed together at road games for the past two seasons at Alabama, said they were thrilled to go through the combine together.

“It’s a blessing to have CJ here with me,” Ouzts said. “That’s my brother. We’ve been through it. Through the ups and the downs. He’s done a lot for me and I’m very proud of that kid and everything he’s been through. All the work that we’ve done behind the scenes that nobody’s seen, it’s just very special to be able to share a moment and opportunity like this with a guy that’s done so much for me.”

Besides Ouzts, the only Alabama player who could have run on Friday was Malachi Moore. However, Moore, who underwent a sports hernia surgery earlier this offseason, was not participating in drills and will instead run at the Crimson Tide’s pro day in March.

Time, date of A-Day game for Alabama football in 2025 announced

The event will start at noon on Saturday, April 12, Alabama’s NIL collective, Yea Alabama, announced Friday. There will be no live broadcast of the event, per UA. Admission will be free.

In 2024, the game was broadcast on ESPN.

A-Day 2025 will be coach Kalen DeBoer’s second spring game with the program. Spring practices start next week and will run through A-Day. What the exact format of the event will be is to-be-announced.

    RECOMMENDED

DeBoer indicated there will be modifications during an interview he held with On3 recently.

“A lot of times here, the A-Day Game, it’s been more of a practice, and there’s been some scrimmaging, not necessarily much of a game,” DeBoer told On3. “Even when I was at Fresno State, we called it the spring preview. Especially this year, there’s some things we’re working through with some injuries and so forth. So it’ll definitely be modified. We want to try to have some type of event around April 12.”
