Arsenal got back to winning ways with a 3-0 victory over Monaco in the Champions League on Wednesday evening.
The Gunners were the dominant side in this Champions League encounter, as a Bukayo Saka brace and a late Kai Havertz strike secured the triumph.
Mikel Arteta faced some challenges heading into this fixture. Arsenal are currently in the midst of a defensive injury crisis. As such, the Spanish coach had to shake things up with his starting XI selection.
Thomas Partey survived an injury scare of his own and was fit to deputise at right-back. Meanwhile, Myles Lewis-Skelly was afforded his first ever Champions League start at left-back.

What Bukayo Saka said to Myles Lewis-Skelly
Lewis-Skelly impressed Arsenal fans with his performance. The 18-year-old was composed on the ball and showed great maturity with his display.
The Hale End academy gem also played a vital role in the build up to the opening goal. Lewis-Skelly showed off his quick feet to beat an opponent, and then broke open the Monaco defence with a brilliant through-ball to Gabriel Jesus.
The Brazilian striker was able to pick out Saka at the back post, who tapped in from close range.
After the final whistle, speaking to TNT Sports (11/12/2024, 21:55), Saka was quick to praise Lewis-Skelly, and revealed what he said to his fellow homegrown talent prior to kick off.
Saka said: “I just said to him, like I said to him before the game, that this is his level and he needs to have no doubts and do what we see him do in training. Amazed with him and he played a big part in the first goal.”
Lewis-Skelly proves point for Arsenal in Champions League
Lewis-Skelly demonstrated with his display against Monaco that he can be relied upon to step up and shine on the biggest stage.
He has now made seven first team appearances this season, and is clearly ready for more game time.
Lewis-Skelly has now shown Arteta that he doesn’t need to sign another defender, and that he ought to be in contention to start games for the Gunners on a more regular basis.
The teenager deserves further opportunities, and with Arsenal’s current injury woes now is the perfect time to give him a run in the team.
