Chris Wood scored a hat-trick as Nottingham Forest dominated Brighton at the City Ground, responding forcefully to their 5-0 loss at Bournemouth the previous Saturday.

Forest suffered their first Premier League defeat since early December at Vitality Stadium, but they rallied to victory in front of their home fans, recording their largest-ever triumph over the Seagulls.

Lewis Dunk accidentally turned Morgan Gibbs-White’s low cross into his own net from close range in the 12th minute, giving Nuno Espirito Santo’s team the lead.

Just after the break, Wood headed home Anthony Elanga’s cross for his 15th Premier League goal of the season, the most he has scored in a single campaign. Gibbs-White had extended the home team’s lead with a glanced header from Elanga’s corner.

Yankuba Minteh shot directly at Forest goalkeeper Matz Sels in a one-on-one, but Brighton was unfortunate not to score before halftime.

Despite Jess Rousseau’s incredible goal in the first half, Leeds United Women lost to Cheadle Town in the FA WNL Division One North.

The game got off to a spirited start on a mild February afternoon, with both teams attempting to break the deadlock by taking advantage of early opportunities.

A lengthy descent from Sophie in Cheadle Ellie Dobson’s excellent defending allowed the Whites to clear their lines, but within minutes John saw striker Rachael Dunlop break off in pursuit, crossing for the charging Imogen Porteous-Williams.

Simon Wood’s team started moving quickly and made their way to the Stingers’ area before Amy Woodruff’s strong shot flew off a red shirt and out of harm’s way.

Moments later, Oates was engaged once more. At first, he made a fantastic save to block Porteous-Williams’ close-range attempt, but unfortunately for the home team, the ball fell fortuitously for the forward to bundle home on the second try.

Sarah Danby, a midfielder, attempted a quick-fire comeback by shooting an arrowed free kick towards goal, but it just missed Emma Bradley’s crossbar.

Following a series of corners, Darcie Greene’s bold long-range attempt pricked the busy stopper’s hands.

The Whites created a fantastic opportunity near the halftime mark when Drew Greene’s brilliantly woven assist put Woodruff through on goal.

Bradley had to make a spectacular diving stop as the attacker rushed into the area. The ball trickled after cannoning back off the forward.

“Brilliant [to get him], I think Kevin will be a great fit for us,” Postecoglou told Sky Sports.

Aston Villa is still interested in acquiring Joao Felix.

But there’s a catch, according to Sky Sports Germany. While his club, Bayern Munich, wants a permanent transfer, the Red Devils desire a loan move. We’ll have to see this one tomorrow.

Nico O’Reilly, a young player for Man City, is someone Chelsea is certain they can sign.

The England U20 midfielder is not eager to leave the Cityzens. Last month, during the FA Cup match against Salford City, O’Reilly scored his first goal for the team.

Edwin van der Sar, the former goalie for Manchester United, has informed Ruben Amorim about the squad’s weak points.

“Manchester United needs consistent performances,” the Dutchman told Oddspedia.

“Reentering the Champions League this year is probably not going to happen since there are too many clubs ahead of the top four.

“United should be okay to contend for those spots once more with a strong preseason and one or two decent additions up front and possibly in midfield.

These days, they have good, technical individuals on board when it comes to signings.

“They are undoubtedly qualified to bring in the appropriate individuals.”

  • Following Nottingham Forest’s crushing defeat, Fabian Hurzeler delivers a message to Brighton supporters.

Following Nottingham Forest’s crushing defeat, Fabian Hurzeler delivers a message to Brighton supporters.

After Brighton’s humiliating 7-0 loss to Nottingham Forest, manager Fabian Hurzeler apologized to the supporters, acknowledging that “everything went wrong” at the City Ground.

Chris Wood continued his incredible run in the Premier League this season with a spectacular hat-trick, and following Lewis Dunk’s early own goal, Morgan Gibbs-White, Nico Williams, and Jota Silva also scored.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s team responded to Bournemouth’s crushing of Forest last weekend with a resounding victory in front of a boisterous home crowd.

As a result, Forest now leads fourth-place Newcastle by five points in the standings. Eddie Howe’s team will host Fulham at St. James’ Park this afternoon.

Shortly after the final whistle, Brighton head coach Hurzeler told TNT Sports, “In the end, we are responsible for the performance, we are responsible for the result.”

“We are really disappointed because that was not the performance we wanted to give.”

We can just express our regret to all of our supporters and fans outside for this outcome and performance.

Selecting a certain player or stage of the game is not the appropriate course of action when you lose 7-0 since, in my opinion, everything went wrong.

“You win as a team in the end, and we lose as a team today, so we need to stick together, analyze it, and be honest with each other.”

Hurzeler refused to use the absence of Carlos Baleba and Yasin Ayari in midfield as an excuse for Brighton’s crushing defeat. The German remarked, “I wouldn’t say that was the main reason.

” Football is ultimately about doing the fundamentals correctly: sprinting, counterpressing, and reacting.

I believe that we weren’t playing at our best in these areas, which is why we weren’t able to maintain a clean sheet. Playing like this won’t get you a win in the Premier League.

EPL: Nottingham Forest batters Brighton 7-0 as Wood records a hat-trick.

At the City Ground on Saturday, Chris Wood scored a hat-trick as Nottingham Forest crushed Brighton 7-0 to rekindle their push for the Champions League the following season.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s team put on an incredible display as they recovered from a 5-0 loss at Bournemouth last weekend, with Morgan Gibbs-White, Neco Williams, and Jota Silva also scoring after Lewis Dunk’s own goal opened the scoring.

With the win, Forest closes the gap on sixth-place Chelsea by seven points and ties up with second-place Arsenal on points.

Due to English clubs’ impressive start in European tournaments, fifth place in the Premier League this season is nearly guaranteed to be sufficient for Champions League qualification.

Forest, who won the European Cup twice in 1979 and 1980 when the team was at its best under Brian Clough, didn’t participate in Europe again until 1996.

However, they are well on their way to ending their two-decade wait for continental competition after winning ten of their last twelve games.

Forest was only the second team in Premier League history to win by that margin after losing a match by five goals or more.

“That’s exactly what the fans wanted and what we wanted after last week,” Gibbs-White stated. “We have been working all week in training to make things right because last week was well below our standards, and the guys were amazing today.

“We caught them on the counter a couple of times and totally nullified everything they did.” In the last three minutes, we were clinical.

When Nottingham Forest and Brighton & Hove Albion play one other on Saturday afternoon in the Premier League, they hope to recover from dismal losses.

Last Saturday, Forest was dragged back to earth after suffering a crushing defeat at Bournemouth, when they gave up five goals.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s team is still in third position, but they are now only three points behind Newcastle United, who are in fifth place, as they attempt to maintain their Champions League qualifying slot.

In Saturday’s early kickoff slot, the Premier League’s unexpected top performers must overcome Brighton, while the Seagulls also need to bounce back from their lackluster home loss to the resurgent Everton the previous weekend.

Before falling to the Toffees, the south coast team had won two straight league games after going on a losing streak.

Ipswich Town 1-2 Southampton: Ivan Juric on Flynn Downes absence

When questioned why Flynn Downes wasn’t included in Southampton’s team for yesterday’s 2-1 victory at Portman Road, manager Ivan Juric responded ambiguously.

Kieran McKenna attempted to entice the former Blues midfielder back to Suffolk last summer, but he was an unexpected absence.

He was an unused substitute in a 3-1 home loss to Newcastle after being substituted at halftime in the team’s 3-2 loss at Nottingham Forest last month.

“He didn’t play today because we had some issues with him during the week,” Juric remarked.

In response to a request for further information, he stated, “No, I’ve said enough.”

After his first six league games as Southampton’s manager ended in defeat, these were Juric’s first points.

To surpass the lowest-ever Premier League point total, the Saints now need one more victory.

They are now seven points away from Ipswich at the bottom of the table. “It is important for the players, for the fans and I think we deserve it,” Juric stated.

“In the past, we played some excellent games against West Ham and Manchester United, but we didn’t win the points.

  • Marcus Rashford will have a medical at Aston Villa while Manchester United attaches a £40 million buyout option to the loan agreement.

Marcus Rashford will have a medical at Aston Villa while Manchester United attaches a £40 million buyout option to the loan agreement.

With Manchester United apparently adding a £40 million buyout option to the contract, Marcus Rashford is getting closer to joining Aston Villa on loan.

For the remainder of the season, Villa has agreed to pay 70% of Rashford’s £325,000 weekly salary through a loan, according to Fabrizio Romano.

He adds that a possible three-and-a-half-year contract may follow the £40 million ($49.5 million/€48.8 million) buyout option. On Sunday, a medical appointment is also scheduled.

Six weeks ago, Rashford made it clear that he wanted to leave United, but few anticipated that the England international would be benched for almost two months due to a continuing conflict with head coach Ruben Amorim.

However, the 27-year-old appears to be on his way out of Old Trafford after a string of unsuccessful attempts, matchday banishments, and other false dawns.

Following the sale of striker Jhon Duran to Al-Nassr of the Saudi Pro League late last month, Villa has been searching for a forward.

Rashford may join England teammate Ollie Watkins in Unai Emery’s offensive line-up if selected.

With the winter transfer window closing at 11 p.m. on Monday, Villa, who are four spots and eight points clear of 12th-place United, has a limited amount of time to complete this transaction.

  • Daniel Farke is taking the right stand, as seen by his most recent Leeds United transfer disclosure.

Daniel Farke is taking the right stand, as seen by his most recent Leeds United transfer disclosure.

Although Leeds United has a strong enough team to be promoted to the Premier League, it would be foolish to overlook the obstacles that might arise.

Daniel Farke is “staying awake” to potential additions prior to the deadline day since he is aware of this.

He has acknowledged that Brenden Aaronson has no direct backup, and he is also keeping an eye on the striker position due to Patrick Bamford’s injury issues.

Farke has, however, also emphasized how difficult it is to make improvements to a league-leading club.

The 7-0 thumping of Cardiff City on Saturday demonstrated the foundation of that theory.

Leeds has now gone undefeated in 13 games across all competitions, with six different scorers and a fifth consecutive clean sheet since Pascal Struijk returned.
