Crystal Palace are closing in on the signing of Gabriel Aguayo.

According to a report from Popular, the 19-year-old winger has attracted the attention of multiple clubs and the Eagles are now set to win the race for his signature.

Crystal Palace are close to securing an agreement with his club Cerro Porteno. The Eagles are looking to improve their squad adequately this month. They are keeping tabs on other wide players as well.

The teenager could prove to be a quality long-term acquisition for them. The 19-year-old winger has attracted the attention of multiple clubs with his performances this season and he could prove to be a solid long-term acquisition for Crystal Palace. They could help nurture him into a future star.

Crystal Palace need to add more quality in depth to their attacking unit and the Paraguayan youth international has the attributes to develop into a key player for them.

Ruud van Nistelrooy, Manager of Leicester City, shows appreciation to the fans

    Aguayo could fancy Palace move

The opportunity to move to the Premier League will be quite attractive for the player and he will look to make his mark at Crystal Palace if the move goes through.

Regular football in England could accelerate his development and help him fulfil his tremendous potential. It remains to be seen how the situation develops.

The 19-year-old has six goal contributions this season and he will help Crystal Palace going forward. He might not be ready to make an instant impact at the London club but he could be a long-term asset for the club. He will only improve with coaching and experience and he could prove to be a superb future investment for the Eagles.

If the Eagles can sign him for a reasonable amount of money this month, the deal could look like a bargain in the long term. If he manages to fulfil his potential with the London club, he could end up saving millions in the transfer market.

Ipswich boss gives honest verdict on Liverpool after half-time frustration

Kieran McKenna chose to reflect on the positives after his struggling Ipswich Town side were well beaten by Liverpool. A Cody Gakpo brace and goals from Dominik Szoboszlai and Mohamed Salah earned the Reds a comfortable 4-1 Premier League win at Anfield on Saturday afternoon.

Liverpool, who remain six points clear at the summit with a game in hand, could have won by more before taking their foot off the gas in the closing stages, which allowed Jacob Greaves to head in a late consolation for the visitors.

And after Ipswich had been hammered 6-0 at home by champions Manchester City last weekend, McKenna was pleased his players didn’t fold in a similar fashion once more.

“It was a difficult game, and difficult position to be in at half-time but also a frustrating position,” he said.

“In some aspects it was similar to last week. There were some positives in the first half. It didn’t feel like we were under huge pressure and we started the game well.

“From not a huge amount of pressure we were a goal then a few goals behind. Liverpool executed well and we didn’t defend the box well enough.

Interest is real’ – Crystal Palace keen on player, but Eagles yet to take concrete action for signing

Crystal Palace have included Cerro Porteño’s Gabriel Aguayo in their transfer target list.

On Friday, we covered multiple claims from Paraguay which stated the Eagles want the 19-year-old and have made progress to sign him.

Popular even insisted Crystal Palace are in advanced negotiations with Cerro Porteño and are a step away from securing the transfer.

Nación Media journalist Matías Cuevas covers the Paraguayan club, and he appeared as a guest on Versus Radio to discuss Crystal Palace’s interest in Aguayo.

He states the Premier League side have been following the winger for several months and that ‘there is real interest’ from Crystal Palace.

Although yesterday’s claims said the London club have made advances, Cuevas suggests they are yet to take concrete steps to sign the youngster.

Aguayo is currently with Paraguay U20 at the ongoing South American U20 Championship in Venezuela. The journalist claims Crystal Palace want to see him in this tournament to find out ‘what he is made of’.

Talleres de Córdoba have also looked at Aguayo and are the only team to have made an offer. They wanted the attacker as to replace Ramón Sosa, who left them for Nottingham Forest last summer.

Ty Simpson waited his turn, but now has to hold off a phenom to win starting job

Entering his fourth year in the program, Ty Simpson waited his turn to be the starting QB for Alabama football. Now, he just has to hold off freshman phenom Keelon Russell.

In this era of college football, it’s rare to see a player who is patient. A player who is willing to wait his turn in line, keep his head down, and just do the work needed to eventually get an opportunity on the field. Usually, guys who don’t play after a year, two at most, will enter the Transfer Portal and seek greener grass elsewhere.

So when a guy does stick it out for the long haul, he deserves to be celebrated. Such is the case for Alabama QB Ty Simpson, the presumptive favorite to be the Crimson Tide’s starting quarterback in 2025.

Simpson was a highly regarded prospect in the 2022 recruiting class, rated as a five-star in the 247 composite rankings.

He committed to Alabama fully knowing that there was no path to playing time during his freshman season with the Crimson Tide returning Heisman Trophy winner Bryce Young at QB. Simpson competed for the job in 2023, but ultimately couldn’t beat out Jalen Milroe.

Who knows if Simpson was given a fair crack at winning the job in 2024 or not or if Milroe was always going to be the starter, no matter what. But Simpson served as Milroe’s primary backup the last two seasons, playing sparingly, usually when Alabama had games well in hand.

There seems to be some confidence in Simpson by the coaching staff as Kalen DeBoer and company did not pursue a QB in the Transfer Portal during the winter cycle, contrary to some reports with regards to former Georgia QB Carson Beck.

While Simpson will be at the front of the line to begin spring practice, he’ll have to hold off the phenom and prized recruit in Alabama’s 2025 class. 5-star Keelon Russell, who finished as the No. 1 prospect in the country per Rivals and a consensus 5-star across all services.

Russell has drawn favorable comparisons to former LSU Heisman Trophy-winning QB Jayden Daniels and has arrived in Tuscaloosa oozing with confidence and ready to compete for the starting job right away.

Russell is likely the most talented QB on the roster, but picking up a collegiate system quickly enough to play as a true freshman is incredibly difficult. He also needs time in Alabama’s strength and conditioning program to bulk up to be able to withstand the hits that come as a starting QB at this level.

It’s easy to draw a parallel between Simpson and former Alabama QB Mac Jones. Jones also waited his turn and sat on the bench for three years. Jones signed in the same recruiting class as 5-star Tua Tagovailoa and one year after freshman Jalen Hurts won SEC Offensive Player of the Year.

Jones then got his chance in 2020 and was the signal-caller for perhaps the greatest college football team of all time.

Like Simpson, Jones had to hold off a freshman phenom. Bryce Young had the same confidence as Russell and came in ready to compete for the starting job.

I would caution, though, that Jones entered the 2020 season as a more experienced player than Simpson and had flashed more during his time on the field than Simpson has in relief of Milroe.

During his redshirt sophomore season in 2019, Jones made four starts due to various injuries to Tagovailoa. He also came on in relief and played a lot of snaps in two other games due to injury. Simpson’s next start will be his first.

With Tagovailoa suffering a season-ending injury against Mississippi State that season, Jones got all the starter reps during bowl practice and put together a terrific performance against Michigan in the Citrus Bowl, throwing for 327 yards and three touchdowns in Alabama’s win.

Milroe playing in the bowl game this year was understandable, but it also took away a lot of starter reps from Simpson, who could have used the bowl game to springboard himself toward a big 2025 season. Instead, Simpson will enter spring practice with limited first-team reps under his belt.

He has put plenty of work in, though, and he has the talent around him at receiver and running back to be successful, particularly if the offensive line comes together like it has the potential to.

Simpson has waited his turn and will now get his opportunity. But whether he can hold off Russell remains to be seen.

    :

In the world of gymnastics, it’s the little things that really matter.

Jocelyn Roberson is most well known for her spot as a 2024 U.S. Olympic team alternate. However, with a packed Bud Walton Arena full of Razorbacks fans going wild, the true freshman came up with the biggest moment of her young career.

With Arkansas needing every possible hundredth of a point to keep within seeing distance of reigning national champion LSU, Roberson tightened the muscles in her hip and squeezed as hard as possible onto the beam with her toes to hold onto what should have definitely been a fall. After muscling her way out of disaster on one leg, then following with a Hog call from the end of the beam, the comeback was on.

It was still a deduction, but not enough to stop the energy that ripped through the crowd and team in the final third of the meet. All No. 2 LSU and coach Jay Clark could do was watch as the Razorbacks stormed back while the pressure of facing such an intense road environment drug on a typically unshakable championship line-up, resulting in a 196.875-196.600 upset.

“This is a great atmosphere in here,” LSU coach Jay Clark said after the first two rotations. “I love that Arkansas has put this thing in this arena. This is where it ought to be. It’s just a fantasitc environment. It’s our first road test in an environment like this. I think our kids are competing extremely well. It’s wonderful. It’s loud. It’s crazy. It feels a little bit like home. We’ve got to up our game a little bit when we get back home I guess.”

In the end, everything came down to Konnor McClain, Aleah Finnegan and Haleigh Bryant on LSU’s side and Roberson, Leah Smith and Frankie Price for Arkansas. It might not be possible to put together a stronger line-up of six college gymnasts from only two teams to face off for it all.

The Tigers began showing focus issues on floor in the third rotation, which carried over onto beam as things got crazier and crazier in Bud Walton. After numerous wobbles, McClain posted a 9.575, meaning LSU would have to count a 9.600 by Lexi Zeiss, opening the door wide for Arkansas to potentially seize the win.

Bryant posted a 9.800 that raised some eyebrows, but in the end, the controversial 9.700 issued by one judge didn’t matter. That’s because Roberson and Smith nailed back-to-back 9.925 scores on a night where anything out of the 9.800 range was borderline impossible with the judges.

Finnegan posted a 9.925 as the Tigers’ last gasp to make things interesting, but the second Price’s traditional hip-hop music for floor leaning heavily into multiple Snoop Dogg tracks, it was more of a massive celebration rather than a moment to worry whether Arkansas was going to win.

The crowd rumbled as one judge flashed a 10.000. By the time the official score of 9.950 came up, the celebration was already well underway.

“The atmosphere was, oh my gosh, it was incredible,” Arkansas coach Jordyn Wieber said. “I mean, it was loud in there. The people showed up students. I mean, we had a record number of students for the first time ever. So it was just so much fun. I think the fans continue to see the passion and the joy that these athletes bring to the stuff that they’re doing. They’re not only doing hard gymnastics, but they’re doing it with such joy, and I think that people are really attracted to that, and they want to come back and they want to cheer on this team. So I’m looking forward to three more amazing meets in Bud Walton this year.”

The win kicks off what is literally the toughest two-meet stretch in all of college gymnastics. Arkansas has to travel to No. 1 Oklahoma next week.

While the score is a bit less than Wieber would like in terms of the Razorbacks’ potential national qualifying score, it was a big deal to pull off such a big win in front of such a large home crowd. For the team in this particular season, it would have been more advantageous to lose 198.025-197.625.

That would have meant a big jump in the overall college rankings and been a huge boost to the final national qualifer total. However, with Bud Walton potentially filled with a lot of newcomers to the sport who process a win over the nation’s No. 2 ranked team way better that formulas that determine who gets to compete in the postseason using a collection of specific average scores instead of wins and losses, it was big for the overall future health and growth of the program to send everyone home on the high of Price’s final performance.

What Murillo did during Nottingham Forest’s 5-0 loss to Bournemouth that infuriated Nuno Espirito Santo

Nottingham Forest’s nine-game unbeaten Premier League run came to an end on Saturday at the hands of Bournemouth, with Nuno Espirito Santo visibly frustrated throughout.

Forest’s loss away to Bournemouth was Espirito Santo’s side’s first defeat of 2025, adding a rare level of doubt to their push for European football.

Bournemouth may have been surprised at the relative simplicity of the result given Androni Iraola’s comments on Forest’s away form, but the Forest squad looked overwhelmed by their host’s full-throttle display.

It was a particularly disappointing display given the positivity surrounding the City Ground this week after Murillo signed a new Forest contract on Tuesday.

However, the Brazilian defender produced an out-of-character performance against Bournemouth which clearly frustrated the Forest manager on the touchline.

Nuno Espirito Santo seen frustrated by Murillo vs Bournemouth

With Forest a goal down going into the half-time break, Murillo went on one of his trademark runs into the midfield before dragging a poor shot well wide of Kepa Arriazabalaga’s goal.

Phil McNulty, who was reporting on the game for BBC Sport, was quick to notice Espirito Santo’s incredibly animated reaction to his defender’s choice.

He said: “Magnificently furious reaction from Forest manager Nuno Espirito Santo as Murillo surges out of defence before sending a shot from about 35 yards trickling hopelessly wide.

“Nuno went through the full range of gestures of fury before storming – and I mean storming – back to his seat. Not a happy Nuno at all.”

Espirito Santo would only get more frustrated as his side shipped four second-half goals in a humiliating display, with Murillo’s stats from the defeat showing he didn’t cover himself in glory.

Murillo struggles in Nottingham Forest humiliation vs Bournemouth

Murillo was up against Bournemouth’s backup striker in Dango Ouattara as Evenilson was injured, but it was far from an easy afternoon for the Brazilian.

First, he was out-jumped by Ouattara for Bournemouth’s second goal, before the striker out-muscled Murillo to fire in his hattrick.

Murillo lost five of his nine duels in the match, including half of his aerial duels against a Bournemouth side with little to no height in attack.

He also struggled on the ball, completing just 74% of his passes which must’ve been incredibly frustrating for the Forest coaching staff as their side couldn’t build out from the defence in a convincing way.

Forest are demanding a world-record fee for Murillo should any side be interested in buying the Brazilian, which seems less likely after his disastrous performance against Bournemouth.

This Arsenal star is on the verge of leaving Arsenal permanently – Beyond The Posts

Manchester City Are Set To Trigger The £85 Million Release Clause Of The Arsenal Target

In the whirlwind of the January transfer window, the saga surrounding Kieran Tierney’s future has taken a dramatic turn. Initially, there was a widespread belief that the Scottish international would be making a move before the window closed. Numerous clubs had shown interest in recruiting the 27-year-old left-back, whose contract with Arsenal is set to conclude at the end of this season. However, despite the anticipation, it now seems that Tierney’s much-talked-about departure from Arsenal will not occur until the summer.

Celtic, the club where Tierney honed his skills and captured the hearts of fans, quickly emerged as the frontrunner to secure his services. From the outset, it appeared that a January transfer was on the cards, with many expecting the former Arsenal defender to don the green and white of Celtic once again. Yet, recent developments suggest a different timeline. Instead of an immediate transfer, Tierney is reportedly on the brink of signing a pre-contract agreement with Celtic, which would see him return to his boyhood club once his current deal with Arsenal expires.

This Arsenal star is on the verge of leaving Arsenal permanently:

This strategic move towards a pre-contract signifies that while Tierney’s heart may be set on returning to Glasgow, both parties involved have decided on patience rather than haste. The Telegraph has highlighted this as an emotional homecoming for Tierney, who has evidently chosen the call of his roots over potential offers from other European leagues or a continued stay in England’s top flight.

The decision to wait until the summer for this transfer does not stem from any complications in negotiations but rather from a calculated approach to secure the best outcome for all parties. By opting for a pre-contract, Tierney ensures he can return to Celtic without Arsenal receiving any transfer fee, a scenario that reflects his desire to go back to where his professional journey began.

This delay also provides Tierney with the opportunity to complete the season with Arsenal, potentially showcasing his talents in any remaining matches and leaving on a high note. Meanwhile, Celtic can plan their squad’s future with the certainty of having one of their prodigal sons back, adding his experience and skill to their lineup for the upcoming season.

As the transfer window nears its close, fans, pundits, and the clubs themselves will keep a keen eye on this developing story. The narrative of Tierney’s return to Celtic, now set for the summer, is not just about a transfer; it’s about a homecoming, a testament to the bond between player and club, and a strategic move that could benefit both Tierney’s career trajectory and Celtic’s ambitions in Scottish and European football.

Sha’Carri Richardson, born on March 25, 2000, in Dallas, Texas, is more than just a sprinter—she’s an electrifying presence in athletics.

Raised by her grandmother, Richardson grew up in a household that instilled both discipline and ambition. Inspired by her mother’s high school track medals, which her grandmother proudly displayed, Richardson decided to pursue her dream of becoming a decorated sprinter at just nine years old.

Her passion for running blossomed at Carter High School, where she made a name for herself as a standout athlete. Her early promise was further cemented when she dominated the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) Junior Olympics, setting the stage for a meteoric rise in the sport.

    Career breakthroughs and medals

Richardson first captured global attention in 2019 when she shattered two U20 world records in one day at the NCAA Division I Outdoor Championships.

She clocked 10.75 seconds in the 100 meters, obliterating a 42-year-old record held by East Germany’s Marlies Göhr.

Later that day, she recorded 22.17 seconds in the 200 meters, surpassing Allyson Felix’s record from the 2004 Athens Olympics. These performances cemented her status as the sport’s next superstar.

Despite the pandemic stalling her professional momentum, Richardson returned to the track with ferocity.

She won the 100-meter race at the 2021 U.S. Olympic Trials, a victory that seemed poised to solidify her position as Jamaica’s primary rival in sprinting.

However, a positive drug test for THC led to her disqualification, barring her from competing at the Tokyo Olympics. Richardson’s transparency and accountability during this period earned her widespread respect, even as she faced significant setbacks.

Her redemption arc began in 2023 when she delivered a championship-record performance at the World Athletics Championships in Budapest.

Winning the 100 meters in 10.65 seconds and anchoring Team USA to gold in the 4×100-meter relay showcased her resilience and established her as the world’s fastest woman. She added a bronze in the 200 meters, completing her medal haul with a display of versatility and grit.

At the Paris 2024 Olympics, Richardson earned her first Olympic silver in the 100 meters, finishing behind St. Lucia’s Julien Alfred. However, she didn’t leave Paris without gold, anchoring the U.S. women’s 4×100-meter relay team to victory with an impressive final leg.

As of 2024, Sha’Carri Richardson’s net worth is estimated at $3 million. Much of her earnings come from sponsorships and endorsements, notably with Nike. She has also collaborated with luxury brands like Jacquemus, further boosting her financial portfolio.

Richardson has captivated audiences not only with her speed but also with her bold and unapologetic style. Known for sporting vibrant wigs, long painted nails, and eye-catching racing attire, she’s often compared to track legend Florence Griffith-Joyner.

Richardson’s embrace of her individuality extends beyond the track, where she has made appearances at prestigious events like the Met Gala and starred in campaigns that merge athletics with high fashion.

    Personal life and relationships

Richardson has been open about her identity, publicly identifying as bisexual. She previously dated Jamaican hurdler Janeek Brown, but their relationship ended amid allegations of abuse, which both parties have addressed.

More recently, fans have speculated about a possible romance with fellow sprinter Christian Coleman, though neither has confirmed the rumors.

Sha’Carri Richardson’s journey is one of triumph over adversity. From her record-breaking performances as a college athlete to her comeback from personal and professional challenges, she embodies resilience and determination.

With her eyes set on future Olympic glory and a legacy that transcends the track, Richardson is not just a sprinter—she’s an icon in the making.

Arsenal dominated the first half and should have been in front before the game took a dramatic turn as Michael Oliver controversially sent off Myles Lewis-Skelly.

Halfway through the second half, Wolves midfielder Joao Gomes was sent off for a second yellow card for a challenge on Jurrien Timber.

Gave everything down the right flank, solid in his defensive work and tried to support Martinelli in attack. Drew the foul from Joao Gomes that gave the Wolves midfielder his second yellow card.

    William Saliba- 7

Not his usual calm and composed self upon return from injury. Sloppy on the ball at times and looked rushed in his decision making.

Second half was back to his commanding presence and marshalled an Arsenal back four in difficult circumstances down to ten men.

    Gabriel Magalhaes- 7.5

A real captain’s performance from the Brazilian. Lead by example with some strong defending and stood strong with the side down to ten men for much of the second half.

    Myles Lewis-Skelly-5

Another promising performance from the youngster before his controversial red card. Lewis-Skelly can find himself extremely unfortunate to be sent off for what looked like a routine booking.

Ultimately, his tackle cost Arsenal a vital three points, which is extremely harsh on the youngster given his bright start to the game.

    Thomas Partey – 6.5

Neat and tidy in possession and kept a close eye on Matheus Cunha throughout the game. Broke play up at will in the second half however, did have a couple of moments being sloppy in possession at the end of the game.

    Declan Rice- 7.5

Worked tremendously hard as always in both an attacking sense and covering Lewis-skelly’s ventures forward. Rice has really stepped up as a leader of this Arsenal side in recent weeks and today was no different. Superb performance.

    Ethan Nwaneri- 5

Tried to pick up pockets of space but found it difficult to get on the ball and dictate at times. Substituted at half time as part of re-shuffle following Lewis-Skelly red card.

    Gabriel Martinelli- 5

Looked bright in the first half with some excellent movement but failed to find a decisive final ball. Failed to get the better of his man Agbadou in the second half at a time when his team really needed him to.

    Leandro Trossard- 5

Sloppy on the ball in initial stages that almost led to a sensational Wolves opener on the break but delivered two exquisite crosses that Havertz should have buried in the first half.

Set-piece deliveries were poor all afternoon, the Belgian took the corners with his left foot but failed to beat the first man on a number of occasions.
