Auburn football flips 3-star defensive lineman from Tennessee on signing day

Darrion Smith, a three-star defensive lineman from Baltimore, Maryland, became Auburn’s first signing day flip Wednesday morning.

After being committed to Tennessee since July 30, Smith changed his pledge to Auburn. The flip comes one day after four-star defensive lineman Nate Marshall flipped from Auburn to Michigan.

Measuring 6-foot-2 and 265 pounds, Smith is ranked as the No. 601 player in the country and the 17th-best player in Maryland, according to the 247Sports composite rankings.

Along with Auburn and Tennessee, Smith had offers from Colorado, Indiana, LSU and others. He held 24 offers total, according to 247Sports.

With the addition of Smith, barring any changes to Auburn’s current or prospective roster, Auburn’s defensive line room is set to include Smith, Quientrail Jamison-Travis, Joe Frazier Jr., Malik Blocton, TJ Lindsey, Zykeivous Walker, Keldric Faulk, Darron Reed Jr., Amaris Williams, five-star Malik Autry, four-star Jourdin Crawford and four-star Antonio Coleman.
