Georgia football special teams preview

The Georgia Bulldogs put their talent on full display over the course of the spring, and Georgia will enter the 2026 campaign with one of the most promising rosters in all of college football.

Georgia has a plethora of talent on their special teams unit, which is an overlooked aspect of the team. Veteran kicker Peyton Woodring will return to Athens for his fourth season as a Bulldog, while punter Drew Miller will begin his third season at Georgia in August. Miller is replacing All-American Brett Thorson. The Dawgs’ special teams unit should have no problem in solidifying themselves as a top unit in the SEC again this year.

Here’s an inside look at each projected starting member of the Georgia Bulldogs special teams unit prior to the 2026 season.

Kicker: Peyton Woodring

Year: Senior

Woodring will enter his senior season at Georgia as one of the top kickers in the SEC. The veteran will continue playing a critical role on the Dawgs’ special teams unit after putting together a fantastic junior season. Woodring is also expected to take care of kickoff duties.

2025 stats: 17 of 19 field goals (89%), with a long of 53 yards

Punter: Drew Miller

Year: Redshirt Sophomore

Miller is a talented sophomore who flashed his potential during his second season at Georgia in 2025. The punter has appeared in just two total games to begin his career at UGA, but Miller should do well in his first season as the Dawgs’ starting punter.

2025 stats: 48 yards per punt, 288 total yards in six punts

Year: Sophomore

White-Helton is a talented wide receiver who is expected begin 2026 as the Dawgs’ starting punt returner. The talented sophomore has elite speed, quickness and athleticism. White-Helton had five punt returns for 57 yards in 2025 and is expected to replace Zachariah Branch’s role as the punt returner.

2025 stats: 70 total yards on eight receptions

Kickoff returner: Talyn Taylor

Year: Redshirt Freshman

Taylor is projected to enter his second season in Athens as the Dawgs’ starting kickoff returner. The redshirt freshman has major big play potential considering his size and speed. Taylor could be the perfect candidate to be Georgia’s starting kickoff returner. Expect him to get competition from running back Dwight Phillips. Taylor had a pair of kick returns in Georgia’s spring game.

2025 stats: 28 total yards on two receptions

Snellings will have some major shoes to fill during his first season as the Bulldogs’ starting long snapper. The big man is expected to take over the starting role in 2026 following the departure of All-SEC long snapper Beau Gardner, but Snellings should continue Georgia’s streak of excellent long snapper play.
