Centre-back Wout Faes has been a hit since his loan switch to Monaco in the January transfer window, the Belgian losing just two of his 12 appearances in Ligue 1
Monaco have held talks with Wout Faes’ representatives ahead of a potential summer transfer, reports in France say.
Faes is on loan from Leicester City at Monaco and there is an option to buy in his deal with the principality club.
The Belgian centre-back has been a big hit for Monaco, only losing two of his 12 appearances in Ligue 1 and helping them rise up the table to challenge for the European places.
He was, however, an unused substitute for the weekend’s 2-1 win over Metz, having not missed a minute in their previous 10 matches.
With Faes happy in Monaco and the club impressed with his performances, Nice-Matin report that conversations have been held between club officials and the centre-back’s representatives over a summer transfer.

They add that Faes will “not be returning to England”. It is likely that, even if a move to Monaco does not come off, that the 28-year-old will be sold during a summer of change at City.
He has one year remaining on his contract at the King Power Stadium, and so this is the final summer in which City can get a fee for him. Faes joined from Reims in 2022 in a £15m move.
Making as much cash through sales as possible will be a big factor in City’s summer window, so that they can make up for the drop in TV and sponsorship revenue that comes with being in the third tier.
They already have one transfer going through, with Bilal El Khannouss’s switch to Stuttgart to become permanent this summer after clauses in his loan were met.
Reports from Germany say City are due to get between €15m and €18m (£13m to £15.5m) for the Moroccan, having received £3m in a loan fee last summer. City also have a sell-on clause in his deal.
