There was a big Monday Night Football game between the Detroit Lions and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, which the Lions won 24-9 on Monday, Oct. 20 at Ford Field in Detroit.
However, there were several injuries of note in the game.
The biggest in-game injury was to Bucs six-time Pro Bowl receiver Mike Evans. The update is grim, as he was carted to the locker room from the sideline in the second quarter in “excruciating pain” and ruled out by the Bucs with a concussion and shoulder injury. Evans had missed the previous three games with a hamstring injury.
The Buccaneers were already without receiver Chris Godwin and running back Bucky Irving, while rookie receiver Emeka Egbuka is playing despite a hamstring injury suffered last week.
In addition, the Lions’ already depleted secondary may have lost another player to injury.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Mike Evans (13) tries to makes a catch against Detroit Lions cornerback Rock Ya-Sin (23) during the first half at Ford Field in Detroit on Monday, Oct. 20, 2025.
The Lions are missing starting safety Kerby Joseph due to a knee injury aggravated during last week’s 30-17 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. Detroit is also without its other starting safety Brian Branch due to a suspension for sparking a fight last week, and five of its top-six cornerbacks, including starters Terrion Arnold and D.J. Reed.
Here were the injury updates from the Monday Night Football matchup in Detroit.
ANOTHER DB injury??? Arthur Maulet appears injured
Following the cramping injury to Rock Ya-Sin, Lions cornerback Arthur Maulet, who recorded an interception in the second quarter, appeared to hurt himself midway through the fourth quarter. He got up and walked slowly off the field under his own power.
Lions DB Rock-Ya Sin questionable to return
How many injuries can one position group withstand?
Despite being down their entire starting secondary from Week 1 – literally – the Lions’ secondary has played well against the Buccaneers and Baker Mayfield. But the group may have gotten more bad news as cornerback Rock Ya-Sin limped off with an apparent left leg injury after a third-down stop in the third quarter.
The ESPN broadcast reported that Ya-Sin was taken to the locker room and a replay showed Ya-Sin grab his hamstring while in coverage.
In the fourth quarter, the Lions announced on social media Ya-Sin is questionable to return
Mike Evans injury update: Out with concussion/shoulder injuries
Evans left the field in the second quarter against the Lions on Monday Night Football after laying out on an attempt to catch a deep ball, losing the ball after his shoulder and helmet slammed into the turf at Ford Field.
Evans, 32, was carted off from the sideline in “excruciating pain,” ESPN/ABC sideline reporter Laura Rutledge said on the TV broadcast, and the Bucs quickly ruled him out with a concussion and shoulder injury. Evans, who has 10 straight seasons with at least 1,000 yards receiving, had missed the past three games with a hamstring injury.
Craig Reynolds injury: Lions RB has hamstring issue
Reynolds, the Lions’ third-string running back, is questionable to return to the game with a hamstring injury.
Mike Evans appears hurt
Bucs quarterback Baker Mayfield attempted a long pass to receiver Mike Evans in the middle of the second quarter, who stayed on the field for several minutes following a drop. He was able to stand up and walk off the field slowly with the help of trainers.
We await updates on the nature and extent of his injury.
