
The women’s 200m event lit up the Ed Murphy Classic as McKenzie Long and Favour Ofili shone with blistering times.
Sprint star Favour Ofili continues to impress as an elite performer in each of her races this season. This time, blazing to her second-fastest career 200m time at the Ed Murphy Classic.
The 22-year-old stamped her name with another fast time of 22.00s to finish second behind USA’s McKenzie Long, who clocked a blistering Season’s Best (SB) of 21.93s to win the race, while Paris Olympic bronze medallist Brittany Brown was third in 22.17s.
Ofili’s impressive time sits second behind her Nigerian record of 21.96s set in 2022, when she became the first and only Nigerian woman to go under the sub-22s mark.

Despite the controversy surrounding her nationality switch to Turkey, she remains focused, consistently delivering brilliant performances that prove she belongs in the elite league of the world’s best female sprinters, and she is a medal contender at the World Championships in Tokyo this September.
Meanwhile, Long’s winning time is world No.2 this year (behind Julien Alfred’s 21.88s) and her third fastest time ever, indicating she’s rounding into form nicely ahead of the US Championships next weekend.

With her performance, she now stands as a top challenger alongside Olympic champion Gabby Thomas, Anavia Battle, Sha’Carri Richardson, and Brown to slug it out for the top three spots in making the US team to the World Championships in Tokyo this summer.
