Lewis Hamilton confirmed his move to Ferrari at the beginning of 2024, and come the 2025 Formula 1 season, joined Fred Vasseur and Charles Leclerc in the Italian team. Now, as he celebrates his first season with the Scuderia, he’s broken the internet with a post on Instagram.

“I remember getting off the phone and, like, almost shaking,” the Briton said when his move was confirmed in his interview with TIME. Ferrari is a dream he didn’t expect to come true, but this Friday, he will sit behind their 2025 challenger for the first time for Free Practice in Australia. In the same interview, he revealed his dream car: the Ferrari 250 GT California Spyder.

“That’s the ultimate retirement car.

“I can just see myself with Roscoe [his pet bulldog], him with a scarf and goggles in the seat next to me, driving down the PCH.”

Today, in an Instagram post from the seven-time world champion, he ticked off one more dream.

“No better way to start the season than by fulfilling another dream,” he posted in the caption.

Ferris Bueller’s Day Off has been one of my favourite movies since I was a kid. This is to pay homage to the iconic film and to celebrate my first season with Ferrari. It definitely took a lot of cutting edge tech, production and planning to get right. Had to get the exact car too … it’s been a dream car since seeing the movie.

In just 5 hours, the video, that was created by Hamilton’s film and movie production company, Dawn Apollo Films, had received over 550,000 likes. This comes as no surprise, with the video showing the former Mercedes driver jumping the classic Ferrari through the streets of Chicago. Riding shotgun is none other than Edward Norton, the actor known for his roles in The Incredible Hulk, The Italian Job, and Fight Club.

Talking ahead of the Grand Prix this weekend, Vasseur is excited for the season to start in Australia.

“The wait is finally over and we’re ready to take to the track for the first race of the season,” he says. “One could say we’re stepping back in time, as it’s been a few years since Australia hosted the opening round. The Albert Park street circuit is not particularly representative of what the rest of the year has in store, but we did well there last year.

“Naturally, there are plenty of unknowns and we are keen to find out what the hierarchy will be, especially as the results of the Bahrain test were very difficult to read. Everyone, including the drivers has worked hard all winter in the factory in Maranello.  Charles has also pushed harder than ever in the gym, and Lewis has made a great effort to assimilate with the team as quickly as possible.

“I believe we have everything in place to do well. As always, we will concentrate on ourselves this week, aware that this is just the start of a very long season.

“A week ago, we were given a wonderful welcome by a huge crowd of our tifosi in Milan and now, in Melbourne, we will be aiming to give all our fans further reason to be proud of us.”
