Jets’ Garrett Wilson Details Need for Improvement: ‘Be Efficient!’

Week 1 in the NFL is always a learning experience, and for the New York Jets offense, plenty of teachable moments emerged from the 32-19 loss to the San Francisco 49ers.

With the offense only having 266 yards of total offense and suffering plenty of three-and-outs, the unit stuttered and spluttered its way through Week 1.

Let’s not forget, for most of the Jets’ offensive players, it was the first time playing as a group with real NFL bullets flying, and while there was some good, there was a lot to clean up.

For receiver Garrett Wilson, what is he looking for in terms of improvement from the offense against the Tennessee Titans in Week 2?

“Score points, be efficient, not go three-and-out,” Wilson said. “Just play good football. You know it when you see it, you know it when you’re out there. I know we felt like we weren’t playing good ball for a little bit there. That’s how I felt on the field. You have a great idea of it when it feels right and when it doesn’t. As fans watching, I feel like they know the same. You’ll know when we see it. We’ll know when we’re doing it.

“I feel like we’re close. I feel like we’re here. Let’s just go do it.”

With so many jumping off the Jets bandwagon after one game, in reality, the 49ers are one of the best teams in football, and for an offense that has just started playing together, it was a perfect storm.

Still, with high expectations placed on them simply by having Aaron Rodgers back, New York knows it must start to pick up the pace at this early stage of the season.

It’s not panic stations by any means, as there is plenty of time for the offense to get rolling, but lose to the Titans, and some heat will come on the organization.

How do they avoid that? By playing efficient football and scoring points. It’s that simple.
