The Gators wrap up the regular season with a 7-5 record.
The future looks promising with Florida Gators QB DJ Lagway leading the way. The freshman ends the 2024 season living up to the hype and then some.
If the Gators can continue to play at the level they’ve shown in recent weeks throughout the entire season, they’re in for a strong future. After a dominant victory over the Florida State Seminoles, Florida secures another win for Billy Napier and enters the postseason on a three-game winning streak. The Gators’ defense was outstanding, recording eight sacks and forcing five fumbles.
Looking ahead to the 2025 schedule, it will closely mirror this season with home and away games swapped:
Home Games: Florida State, Texas, USF, Tennessee, Mississippi State, and LIU. Away Games: Georgia, Miami, Ole Miss, LSU, and TAMU.
With lessons learned from this season, the 2025 campaign could be very successful for the Gators if they carry over the momentum from recent performances. If Billy Napier can keep the team on the path of improvement and eliminate the mistakes that hindered them earlier this season, next year could see a much more cohesive squad.
While not all issues have been resolved, this late-season surge shows promise, and continued progress would make for an exciting start to 2025 if the Gators maintain their high level of play since the LSU game.
Florida will lose a few key players to the NFL Draft, but the recruiting efforts are looking bright, with some big flips in commitments and solid additions via the transfer portal. Napier has a real chance to win back the trust of Florida fans.
The triumph over Florida State marks a turning point in rebuilding the program, and as mentioned previously, Florida fans deserve a more competitive team. Over the past month, a visible shift has started, offering hope that the Gators will soon return to their former glory both on and off the field.
